    Some people should read the lyrics to this song... This i an ironic celebration of the England, that "gave him 40 years of pain and nothing to kling to"... You, my dear friend are the ones who "all think they know, but they all got it wrong"
    This song is, contrary to popular belief, not a celebration of England but as he sings "here's my middle finger".
    Read the lyrics - and if you know just a bit about Elton Johns struggle - you will see this song in a very different light :D

      This song is very much in the spirit of what Springsteen was doing with "Born in the USA" with lyrics that are less patriotic than one would assume from the refrain.
      There is an even bigger hint here that all of the references are American and nothing mentioned is really English at all.
      It's a great mockery.
      This song should be loved way more than it is.
