I'm glad I ain't the only one who noticed!
I think it also echoes the fact Incantations and Sorceries are essentially the same. The nature of Glintstone, the Primeval Current and the additional context we get from Ymir only further reinforce this IMO.
Miquella used "faith" and sought ascension via divine ritual, amassing fanatical followers who believed in his vision of a gentler world (willingly or not...). He embraced the future fated by the Fingers, and entered the metaphysical Realm of Shadow to divest himself from everything, to be re-made alongside his one and only chosen Consort.
Ranni used "intelligence" and approached it like one would a formula, scheming in secret to orchestrate her personal emancipation from the fate imposed on her by the Fingers. She remained in the physical Lands Between and started to divest herself of everything to gain it. Our actions serve to finally sever the last of her connections to the world until only we are left as her Consort.
Logic and observation may reveal that there are no true Gods, but preternatural forces do exist in the world of Elden Ring with a will behind them; it's not really a mistake to think them Divine. Conversely, these influences may be godlike in power, but that doesn't mean that they're deserving of our faith.

@@delrunplays2903 The Castle Sol lore directly stated that Godwyn (a soulless demigod) could be revived when an eclipse happened, and Castle Sol was working for Miquella by trying to call the Eclipse, in the same fashion as Griffith from Berserk, his character's inspiration. This was the previously theorised justification for the Aeonia war, because Radahn holding the stars in place means the moon can't cause an eclipse, and made a whole lot more sense than the actual "justification." Miquella also wanted to revive Godwyn/at least give him a true death (perfect justification for a boss fight) as directly stated by the Golden Epitaph item description, so he had the motive. We also know absolutely nothing about Godwyn pre-death besides that he was nice to dragons, so that leaves a ton of room for character exploration, and he's also like the main long term danger to the Lands Between with his deathroot. His ending was also very lackluster and inconclusive in the base game, and plus he's just very interesting and people were excited to fight him.
Godwyn seemed like the main focus of Miquella's plan, so him not being a boss, not being relevant in the slightest in the DLC, and not even getting any meaningful lore besides "he had knights" confused and annoyed a lot of players, especially given how smoothly he would have fit into the role of Miquella's promised consort instead of lame fanservice Radahn. To me it reeks of a rewrite or abrupt change of plans, because Radahn and Miquella's relationship isn't foreshadowed in the slightest in the base game while Godwyn and Miquella is. They foreshadowed the means in which he'd come back, the motive Miquella had to do so, but that whole plot thread just ended up being unresolved. Disappointing :(

One thing I noticed forever ago was that in the base game, 3 characters had a ring on the same finger (the right ring finger); Miquella, on the withered hand; Ranni, a small ring that is there before you give her the Dark Moon Ring; and Melina, whose ring is the Spectral steed whistle before she gives it to the player.
Apparently, wearing a ring on that finger is symbolic of a vow. It seems that somehow, there were alliances made between these 3. Maybe that had something to do with the vow Miquella talks about in the last cutscene. Even then, there are still questions left to figure out.

I truly hope we get another dlc that expands on deathblight lore. Particularly grafting, because its never directly stated how its done, but since all of it is tied to the shed skin of godwyns corpse below stormveil castle in the base game, I've always been under the speculation that grafting is a process of inflicting a creature with deathblight, thus killing its soul but leaving its body undead, then before its able to naturally reanimate, fusing it with your own flesh allowing you to impose the will of your soul upon the undead flesh. I could also very easily see a godwyn bossfight inspired by ludwig the holy blade. In his first phase, a twisted creature filled with all the souls of those who live in death, driven mad by their screams. Then, the soul of godwyn is able to reclaim control of his body once more, and though twisted and mishapen, he begins to wield his golden lightning against us, even tainted as it is by the deathblight

    • @sixheadhydra2317
      @sixheadhydra2317 2 месяца назад +1

@C3lticlord That's what they do to make the living jars, fusing the souls of many beings into a jar, with the shaman as a base. It's possible considering the boss arena for Godrick is right next to some living jars, but grafting doesn't have the same effect as the flesh melding in the living jars does. That gives life to a completely inanimate object, but that inanimate object takes on its own unique identity and personality. Grafting is a little different since it requires a living host that grafts dead flesh onto their body. The flesh doesn't become a soft pink lump like in a living jar, it maintains the same form it had when it was grafted, and it only grants the physical skills that flesh possessed. Alexander was able to use fire based attacks and had super high fire resistance after consuming the flesh of redmanes, and tempering himself in a volcano. While maybe the volcano alone gave him his powers, I think he is able to absorb some of the soul of the flesh he absorbs, letting him gain some of the knowledge of the flame arts the redmanes were famous for. I would imagine grafting could be an offshoot of the process used to make living jars, but I can't see them being exactly the same since the affects and end results aren't the same. Perhaps someone used deathblight and the process the greater potentates used to make livings jars to make graftable flesh
Edit: Sorry that's a lot lol, grafting is something that's barely touched on in the story outside of stromveil, and I've been curious about it forever

But in the main game the jars do say they add the corpses of their victims into the jar, so that means dead material will get merged. I think that they are the same mechanic but because the shamans are inside a tight space as the jar, when they graft it just becomes mush as there's no room.

I thought it was awesome that we got to see Radahn in his prime, he was known as the strongest of the demigods so I don't know why it would be anyone else. The fact that we got to see Miquella in full was cool too. The shadow realm is everything discarded by Marika and the golden order, things and people that were abandoned or deemed lesser before the shattering. Godwyn was the pride of Marika until his "death". It doesn't really make sense for him to be in the shadow realm. Miquella divested himself of grace and retired to the shadow realm, Radahn had made a pact with him before the Shattering to be his consort. I honestly believe that Miquella wasn't using his powers to control the minds of Radahn or even Mohg. Mohg being omen born tracks pretty well with why he would follow Miquella. And they point out multiple times that despite Radahns skill in battle, he was kind and compassionate compared to the other demigods. Also when Miquella controls your mind in the final fight you get a bird sigil over your head to represent the spell. Neither Mohg nor Radahn had that. I do agree that Miquellas rule would be no different than Marika's tho, you can't make the world exactly how you want it without controlling people.

Because of that I got myself questioning which and if there is at least one relationship with Miquella that he hasn't manipulated the person into, though that might be too much.

    • @gunk856
      @gunk856 2 месяца назад

The only reason that symbol pops up is because of his godly circlet. Radahn didn't want to be his consort hence Melania tried to kill him. Mogh was most definitely bewitched, why would he talk about his dynasty but throw it away for miquellas rule? He wanted miquella to be his consort and instead was tricked into helping miquella reach the shadow lands.

@@teamtea3439 None of the people that go into the shadow realm are directly under Miquellas spell, half of them end up rebelling against Miquella by the end. Miquella guided people who already followed him to the shadow realm sure but not against their will. If that was the case neither Ansbach or Thiollier would help you in the final fight and Hornsent was there for vengeance against Mesmer. It's also pointed out that Radahn promised before the Shattering to be Miquellas champion because he supported his vision, I believe Mohg followed him for the same reason.

@@DoctorPecker That's not true, Miquella used Mohgs fully intact and living body to implant and house Radahns soul and power. There's nothing that indicates Radahn would be weaker because of it. Mohg is as much a demigod as Radahn, and the body is far less important than the soul as far as the demigods are concerned. It's made clear that the demigods don't truly die in Elden Ring, you destroy their bodies but their souls live on to be reincarnated in the future. What Miquella does with Radahns soul is no different. It is definitely Radahn in his prime, fully reborn

I feel like Elden Ring deserves a second DLC, fully fleshing out the outer gods, as well as (especially) Godwyn. It could be required to have beaten Fortissax, maybe even have beaten the game, and possibly use the DLC gates of divinity. We could travel to a new realm like 'The realm of true death' where peoples souls who have died like Godwyn reside, or people who did not return to the Erdtree. Maybe a bunch of Hornsent and blasphemous bosses. Maybe even give the ability to become a shell for an outer god that gives you a new game ending. Could control it the same way as the frenzied flame

Holding stars is what started whole family killing family business. Radahn is a fucking indirect progenitor of everything because he wanted to stop stars medling with stuff.
He stopped stars, that stopped Ranni from fatereading, Ranni picked her other brother Rykard who had doubts about golden order at the time and they stole piece of death, then Godwyn got iced by the said piece of death, Marika shattered ring because her favorite child became another monster, and everyone starts a war over great runes, Miquella started his ascension program and sent Malenia to kill Radahn while he called Mohg to Über him elsewhere, oh and Caelid became nuclear wasteland with Radahn rotting away.
So yes he is an MVP because everything went to shit because he decided that blocking literal cosmological phenomenon and a direct influence of greater will is a good idea.

I actually believe it’s a perfect ending. You must understand no matter which ending or outcome happens, it’s just another unique form of hell. This is no different. It makes total sense he chose Radhan. There was nobody else powerful enough to be his consort, could be Godwin, his body is a deformed husk of what it once was. Couldn’t be Morgott, he’s at the Erdtree. Couldn’t be Radagon, he’s in the Erdtree mending the shattered ring. It had to be Radhan, because his body lay in the desert and is intact, it’s a totally sensible ending. There is no way for Godwin to return as a fight, his fate is long sealed. My only wish is that Melina would be a fight to be revealed as the Gloam Eyed Queen, however that also would make sense since at this time she is still your maiden.

It doesnt make sense in fact, for the pact was sealed long ago, and the fatherhood aside, miquela and radahn are never seen or depicted together in the lore
On the other Hand, miquella tried to save /ressurect godwin whom died in soul only… thus it would have make sense to ressurect him, in the land of shadows where all dead wash up, and use Mogh’s body as a vessel…
It meant linking the one who livr in death, omens/hornsent (for it is clear they share the same lineage) and Humans thanks to godfrey’s blood
But i assume it won’t take place unless another dlc comes out, and that seems likely thanks to some unused asssets just like in the end of DS3 the serpent statut at the end of the dlcc that lead to the last dlc
But on the other end.. frenzied flame as been developped a bit, hornsent/omens/crucible are pretty clear by now, all that remains is the one who live in death, and the departure of the greater will

Yes, he did; *everyone* in the Lands Between deserved so much better. As much Mogh as Radahn and as much Miquella as Marika. The DLC fully hammers home the arduous, and brutal journey that founding a New Order entails.
Not to pull a "we live in a society" card here, but the game is basically a giant metaphor about the realities of people who try to make the world a "better place" and the messiness that comes with social organization.
Belief in the values of a noble cause will eventually fester into the kind of messed up fanaticism we saw in the Golden Order. Hell, the Hornsent's culture is basically practicing what the wise dog Miriel preached, taken to the most messed up extreme possible. The truth is, even if you are well and right (by morals, might, logic or faith ect...) it *still* won't matter; people are going to suffer in the Order you ultimately *impose* upon them.
It's *never* going to be perfect. People will continue to yearn helplessly for relief from the systems that represses them; that divide and distinguishes them. It can become so unbearable that burning everything down just to find relief becomes palpable, a pain manifested in the maddening Chaos of the Frenzied Flame. But Omnicide *isn't* an answer, it's just giving up and letting the woes of the world erase everything you are.
The only mildly comforting part of the DLC, and the wider message of Elden Ring (embodied by Melina), is to keep *trying* no matter how messed up it becomes, so that one day it can get better. Marika's order was better than the Hornsent's, and while it's inevitable that our own Order is also going to bring suffering (and fail) it *can* be better.
Don't give in to the cruelty and hopelessness of a world brimming with adversity. Don't be discouraged into apathy, or tempted into scorn by the failures of the past. Never stop fighting for that flawed future, and maybe one day the world can truly be the gentler place Miquella dreamed of.

The eclipse wasn’t physical, rather metaphorical. We need to complete so much of Lunar Princess Ranni’s quest to get the statue, to get to her hallowbrand, to then take to Fia, and we kill the final roadblock Fortisax, so she can rebirth Marika’s Golden Son, Godwyn into the Great Rune of the Death Prince. None of that would have happened without our Tarnished.

Ngl Miquella’s plan was lowkey kinda 🔥, sure he wanted to manipulate and control everything but he is quite literally a god, is that not his right? Like fr he just wanted to establish an age of compassion where everyone lived in harmony regardless of background

Wish Miquella somehow created a fake Godwyn or something, that way the lore can stay intact while still getting to see some part of him. Maybe combine him with Mohg and Radhan for the ultimate Frankstein beast god or something. Then for second phase have some form of the Greater Will to try to intervene and have you kill it.

The thing is its a bit of a spectacle but i don't really think hes the best final boss imo especially since first phase is bassically just him doing godfrey stuff plus 3 gravity attacks and second phase is mostly the same just holy beams now he would've done much better as a protector to miquelas castle and for her the be a vengful god such as a medusa or athena gimmick

Elden Ring does better use of cosmic horror than Bloodborne in that sense. While BB has the best lovecraftian theme and ambientation, you can kill the creatures in front of you, in Elden Ring you can't kill the Greater Will, the Formless Mother, the God of Rot, you wouldn't have been even able to burn the Erdtree if it wasn't because of Melina or the Three Fingers, we stand powerless and do what we can with creatures and outer gods we barely know about

Did Mohg really deserve better? From my knowledge Mohg has a blood themed cult that uses the blood of a tarnished's maiden for a ritual to prove your allegiance to the Mohgwyn dynasty. He also recruited okina, a man who thirsts for bloodshed and varre, a sadistic killer. It's uncertain whether miquella influenced these actions of Mohg and if he was a different person before miquella's charm but I believe that to not be true since miquella's charm didn't cause his other victims to injure, kill, or torment for pleasure.

The problem is that technically - the final boss is not Radahn, but Miquella
Radahn is dead, well, his soul is probably still alive somewhere but Miquella miquellested Radahn and mind controlling him so that body is entirely Miquella
So realistically, this is fighting against Miquella, which is still alittle on the cheap side

But Mogh never was the Moghlester, for he was the one being Mohglested and... deathbeded,... fiad... Well i guess he was also mind controlled... Honestly mohg was way less of a creep that i thought. Hell in this light he seems morel ike a good guy who just wanted a place to live and follow his own god.

See i disagree and think it's fine for one reason: it fills the missing parts of miquella's story. Prior he was a prodigy that was reduced to egg, but now has a plot that rivals even Ranni's ambition.
The others need their stories completed but Miquella having his is not bad and adds tragedy to radahn and mogh
