    My blend door quit working, no heat. I tried this fix by greasing the rails and after getting it to move, it's working great now. Thank you for this idea. I didn't even need to put the new one on I ordered. I'll save it for next time.

    A common problem is that the blend door actuator arm pin simply gets stuck in the channel. Tapping often frees it up and operation is restored (as what happened in my case). If tapping doesn't fix it, remove the actuator but keep the wires connected--then try activating it (by turning the temperature control knob on the dash while the heater fan is operating). It may spring back to life all on its own! I highly recommended that some gel-type lubricant be applied to the pin and channel to help prevent the same thing from quickly happening all over again (VGAPR recommends silicone paste, although if you don't have that, petroleum jelly would work and it's better than nothing). The whole job took me about 90 minutes. This simple troubleshooting saved me around $250 and a trip to the dealership!

    Glad i watched this video. Just turned on my heat for the first time in about 6 months last night since it was cold outside, and got only cold air. I knew it worked fine the last time I used it last winter. I was thinking I had a stuck open thermostat, or worse a plugged up heater core. So before I checked all that stuff I figured I would check what showed in this video. Sure enough the arm wasn't moving. I then just touched the arm, and it started moving. I then had heat. I applied grease to it, and all is well. I have a 2014 Jeep Patriot so everything was the same in the video. Thanks again!

    Thank you for posting this. This was the same issue with my daughters 2014 Patriot. I was able to accomplish this in minimal time thanks to your directions. Greased the slide on the blender door and the pin on the actuator, problem resolved.

    This video was extremely helpful! Heat went out just as it started to get cold here in Indiana. Diagnosed and switched this out for a new one. $28 and 45 minutes later, it's working again. I have a 2015 Jeep patriot but this was perfect and not much different at all. Thanks so much!

    I had a hard time getting the screws back in, but I found that if you get in on the passenger side and lay across the seats you can better get to the screws. I used a short Phillips screwdriver.

    Oh man so funny. I tried to find this a few weeks ago when I went to use my heater and it didn't work but I could only find other similar mechanisms for the other controls. Looking at this video I realized the problem, I been watching videos from other countries where the steering wheel is on the left which is not true from where I am from so I kept looking on the right side where my steering wheel is...... but this gear is still all on the left side where my glove box actually is.
    All fixed now, it was just jammed presumably from not being used for so long.

    Is there any other known fixes for this? I did this probably about a year and a half ago, but now I'm having the same issue again(Just in time for winter, of course.) Is the only fix for this just to keep lubricating it? Is there something that can lubricate for a longer lasting fix? I can't find much of anything on this except your video. Thanks.

      Fingers crossed it’s the motor. I can be that the blender door is broken. I would take the motor off and take a look inside. It’s a clamp shell that’s only held together with clips.

    • @jth1987leb
      @jth1987leb  4 года назад

      River Sharp that’s wears for manual controls. That’s more like someone I see and dual automatic climate controls. That’s not a Freon issue. Something is wrong with blender doors or a heater bypass valve

    Hello, I need your advice about an issue on my 2010 jeep patriot 2.0 CRD (manual) already. Sometimes there are popping (or air blast) sounds coming from behind of air blower and behind of cluster area. While the sound stopped after about two seconds, the heater isn't blowing hot air. Considering the possibility of clogging somewhere in the system, I cleaned the heater radiator with using chemical but nothing changed. I think there is some air in the system but I couldn't find the reason. What would be the reason and what part I should focus on? Thank you., Selim

    • @jth1987leb
      @jth1987leb  4 года назад

      google google so it’d check the blender door motors. The gears inside can break and cause that noise.
