i LOVE this! the people you chose for everyone fits so perfectly. the two divorced being sskk and awkutagawa being catherine the person that henry (dazai) cheated and betrayed (leaving the mafia) and how even if aku ADMIRED dazai sm, he still chose the ‘vatican’ (pm) over him! also anna of cleves had the best because even after her divorce with henry, she got her own castle keeping friends with henry! like in the anime. i love odasaku being jane which is biblically accurate being the favourite and the one dead, it just fits so well. ango betraying dazai with anne betraying henry plays so well with the whole thing. i love chuuya being katherine howard, it just makes so much sense to me! he would definitely vide with katherine and like how they met when they were young kinda works too? chuuya is just so k howard coded! and ofc kunikida being catherine parr 😭😭

I thought a lot about who would be who at the time I decided: Ok, but what about an ex-wives animatic with dazai?
For me, the most perfect ones were Akutagawa, Oda and Ango (exactly for the reasons you mentioned!!) But I also loved the nuances in Atsushi and Kunikida's story.
And my god, I couldn't leave chuuya out at all! And he has so much Howard vibe that I decided to make a big joke around the "betrayal" plot and it end up sooo funy

love your art!! i also noticed how people didn't really comment on how ango and chuuya have chokers that have letters 'a' and 'c' and i love that since in the original six anne and catherine also have chokers like that. its so great!!
well, in the original there are different letters on the chokers but the idea is still here and i adore that so much !
I'm so glad you noticed!! And yes, I made them with their initials, A for Ango and C for Chuuya, just like in the musical the girls use B and K (Boleyn and Katherine)

I love how chuuyas kathrine it fits idly enough. Ango makes sense because he betrayed them in the show and manga and dazai still hasnt forgiven him. Oda being the one that died, is canon accurate. I love how both atsushi and akutagawa are divorced, to show how dazai is bonded two both, but in different ways to a point. Also i love how the chokers on ango and chuuya are their initials kinda like how the singers are. Also, get it chuuya jump atsushi lol.

I also noticed that Ango and Chuuya have chokers with their intials on them and that such a tiny detail but it makes me so happy because they also have that in the musical.

watching this again and im finding so many cool details... kunikida sings "so i picked up a pen" (1:01) YEAHHHH BC THAT'S HIM HE LOVES TO WRITE!!! ango who "broke england from the church" and a photo of 15!dazai is shown (1:25)... jane's chracter fits oda so well, they're both more than what they seem at first (also, the pic of his chidren HURT). chuuya's entrance (2:04) he looks so good. he's such a hot person i can't. i really can't. he's so charismatic too... his story also fits the one of katherine h, in a way they both were used by others (beauty / ability). the transition from chuuya to kunikida was so cool. and the flashes of every 'wife' too!!! so cool!

ohhhhh my god??? i didn't see the vision from the title but i'm sooooo glad i decided to watch. your mind is so beautiful and this was so well executed? you did such a wonderful job with everyone's eyes at the beginnning, the only ones i missed were oda and chuuya but that's just because i didn't know their eyes were blue.
when i connected the cheating with the being a triple agent for ango, i gasped. someone already wrote a comment going into detail but you really did choose such good roles for everyone. i especially loved oda's "the only one he truly loved" because oda was the only person dazai really cared about, or at least the person he cared the most about.
i adore everything about this thank you so much for making it.
