Amazing introductory video. I have been using HubSpot automation to design pipelines and decrease to minimum manual input of my team however, I wish to know how can I expand this experience and pursue further to eventually stop doing just marketing and specialise only in marketing automation? Any ideas or videos that could explain this? Thanks
Thanks for your comment! My own course on Udemy is a great start www.udemy.com/course/marketing-automation-for-beginners-strategy-and-tools/?referralCode=3B966CD23F4A253328B1 - Also, take a look at the HubSpot Academy courses, particularly this one here: academy.hubspot.com/courses/automation-strategy Overall, people typically start working in Marketing and then end up specializing in Marketing Automation with time. You can do this by delving into a specific Automation platform (sich as HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce, etc) and taking courses on the topic, as well as getting actual work experience on it
Hi Thalita… I’ve been working in marketing for about 8 years now. Digital and content marketing. However, I want to move completely into marketing automation. Do you think it’s good career path in the long run?? Since this role doesn’t have targets as such… Companies might start thinking about eliminating these roles in the name of “AI can do this now” what do you think of that possibility?
Hi! Thanks so much for reaching out 😊. Marketing automation is definitely a solid career path for the long run! While AI tools are getting more advanced and can help automate certain tasks, the real value comes from the strategy and customization that only a skilled marketer can bring. Think of it like this: even if AI can execute automations, we still need people who understand the bigger picture and can guide the AI to build automations that are truly aligned with business goals and adaptable to change. It doesn’t do much good for a company to have a powerful AI tool if there’s no one who knows how to use it to create an effective automation strategy.
Hi great insights in this video and motivating as well. I have knowledge of constant contact marketing automation, I can also copywrite and do performance marketing (ads). Do you have any work that you can outsource, I’m actively looking for work. Thanks.
Hey Thalita, loved your video, such clear and valuable information🎉 I would love to expand my knowledge as I am super passionate about this! would you recommend I start playing around with active campaign or hubspot? Would love to also get deeper knowledge into advanced marketing strategies and data analytics. For context I'm a former front end dev. turned automation and funnel implementation specialist. I work mostly with digital creators and platforms like convertkit/kartra/thrivecart. Thank you so much, have a lovely day
Thank you so much for the kind words! 🎉 I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Both ActiveCampaign and HubSpot are excellent tools, and the choice really depends on the types of clients you’re aiming to serve. HubSpot can be a great fit for clients looking for a robust, all-in-one platform with CRM, automation, and detailed analytics in one place, especially if they’re scaling or want more advanced capabilities. ActiveCampaign, on the other hand, is fantastic for businesses that need strong email automation and a user-friendly experience without the full CRM suite. Since you already have experience with platforms like ConvertKit and ThriveCart, diving into either will add valuable skills to your toolbox, but the best choice will align with your client base and the level of analytics and CRM integration they need. Hope that helps, and enjoy exploring! 😊
If you're looking to start in marketing automation, it's a good idea to begin by learning the basics of digital marketing concepts like email marketing, lead generation, and customer segmentation. Familiarize yourself with platforms like HubSpot, Mailchimp, or ActiveCampaign, which often offer free or low-cost certifications and training. As you learn, practice by creating automated email campaigns, building customer journeys, and experimenting with workflows. Once you've gained some experience, explore advanced concepts like segmentation strategies and data analytics to deepen your skills.
Absolutely, as a data analyst, you’d bring some powerful skills to a marketing automation consulting role! Data analytics is essential for understanding customer behaviors, campaign performance, and ROI, all of which inform the automations you’d set up. You can apply your expertise by analyzing engagement metrics, conversion rates, and audience segments to help clients optimize their automations based on data insights. Plus, as a data analyst, you’ll be able to make strategic recommendations, tweak campaigns for better results, and provide clients with measurable, data-backed outcomes. It’s a fantastic way to bring value to any marketing automation project!
@ Thanks for responding ,I really appreciate taking your time to respond, this was insightful!,Do I need to take a y courses or learn any extra skills to become a marketing automation expert ..how can I augment my data analysis skills to become a marketing Automator
Great question! If you enjoy the technical side, there are several paths you can explore. One option is becoming a marketing operations manager, where you'd oversee tools and processes for larger teams. If you’re into coding, you could dive into custom integrations or API development. The key is to keep building your technical skills-there’s so much demand for specialists who understand both marketing and tech!

Many b2b companies already have big marketing teams, so why would they hire someone to help them with marketing automation since they can do this on their own?
This is an excelent question! Let me know if I can clarify this for you: Having a big marketing team doesn't necessarily mean having someone with Marketing Automation expertise. To give you an idea, once I worked at a company with a Marketing team of 11 people. They were all experienced Inbound Marketers, but nobody had experience with paid ads. The company decided to outsource the paid marketing strategy to an agency. Remember that Marketing Automation is a skill, just like any other skill you have inside Marketing. I provide consulting to all types of company: From a one-person business to big marketing teams. Of course, there can be a time where a big marketing team wants to hire someone in-house to do that job, so as a Marketing Automation consultant, you can help them before they get someone in-house (and also guide them through the decision of choosing the best support!).
