In this 13-week course, instructor Stephen Bauman will teach you how to paint the figure in the sight-size method. You will explore the processes of creating a transfer drawing and a color study to prepare for your final painting. Stephen will lecture on the materials and techniques he employs when painting the figure. This course will provide the knowledge you need to skillfully capture the human body on canvas utilizing the sight-size method.
Stephen Bauman is a Tennessee-born artist. He trained at Florence Academy of Art, where he later taught and worked as the Director of the Anatomy & Écorché department for six years. He left the academy in 2020 to focus on his art career and online teaching. Stephen has representation in New York with Grenning Gallery and Hersh Fine Art.

Thank you Stephen. Do you spray fixative on the transferred drawing or just paint right over it?

You can. However when you're doing your preparatory sketches and final drawing for the painting. It's always good to have a reference to go back to. It makes things a LOT easier during the process of painting. For example when you're painting light and shadows on say a human figure. If your original drawing is well done enough you can use it as a reference while painting.
Also if you paint on top of your drawing and you screw up your painting. Guess what? You have to start all over again.
