Buying this tools is more expensive than the cable itself

for a bicycle you should be able to use a wood pin for this fix

Done the same and added Red Thread Locker--after cleaning cable end, set screw, and end-piece with carb-cleaner (and let dry for a few minutes).

I still think that it would be better to dip it in hot solder metal

I have done almost exactly the same thing with a car accelerator cable, even down to the M4 tap and the grub screw, and I thought I was the only one to think of this, so good for you!

Not all of us have that option. Maybe you don't have a prefabricated tool for the use case. On a bicycle, it's a different story. I am looking at my throttle cable.

the pinch point of the repair can fray and crack more easily that a pro cable after 1000-2000 repetitions, for a life-death equipment, it's not the wisest. you will see that cables are always designed to have no pinches or bends, only crimps and welds, to avoid risking lives. If he did that first and then welded it would be ok.

Hi Michel if you treat it well it doesn't hurt anything if you put a thicker wire and pinch a bit in front with electric welding to make it thicker or not go away and the screw grips the cable well there is a chance that it will last for an animal and never get hurt

it's dangerous what he did because the metal gets fatigue stress once it's pinched like that, it will start to fray and cut slowly at the point where it is pinched... A few thousand brake movements and it will just come loose by surprise. The point with solder is that it holds all the strands and can (ideally) prevent the pinch stress completely by developing all the cable.

Thank you! You are my absolute hero! I'm surprised more people haven't commented on this video. I'm somewhere where it's not convenient to try to fabricate something with solder. This is much simpler. Thank you a million times.
