Thank you so much for all your videos and helpful and helpful information. I am very new to ocean fishing. I’ve been boating and fishing for a long time but recently got into the ocean. All your videos have been extremely helpful. You seem like you have so much experience and knowledge I wish I could spend the day out there with you guys. I live in Santa Clara, California only fished out of the Santa Cruz Harbor one time so far see me say hi ya baby I’m in 17 Boston whaler Montauk name Badfish. take care have fun and be safe.
My hoops is 14 pound. It is depends on how deep you drop. The deeper you drop the heavier weight your hoops should be. I will add weights if I drop over 100' to 200'. If I drop around 50 ft. My 14 pound hoops is good. However, on the strong current or big swells day, you .at need to add additional weights.
I understand that the fishing regulations is ridiculous. Very frustrating. Fishing has not been fun as before. I feel the government are trying to get us.
I believe you are wrong. 3. TRANSIT PROVISION: In waters where groundfish species or species groups are closed to take or possession but authorized for take or possession in other areas, those species or species groups may be possessed aboard a vessel that is anchored, drifting, or transiting in or through that closed area. While anchored, drifting, or transiting through an area closed to take or possession of these groundfish species or species groups, no gear may be deployed other than for the take of crustaceans with hoop nets used pursuant to subsection 29.80(b), Dungeness crab traps used pursuant to subsection 29.80(c), and dip nets used pursuant to Section 28.80. (§29.80(b), §29.80(c), §28.80).
Thank you for your information and you are correct about transit provision. As long as you do not deploy Rockfish gear in the water while having Rockfish on your boat. I have already sent an email to DFG to clarify the regulations regarding ground fish and crabbing. I really appreciate for your times to research and provide useful information and clarification. Awesome.👍
So when the regs change in December back to fishing above 50 fathoms, we have to drop hoops above 50fathoms in order to obtain both limits of crab/rockfish….?
For December 2024, It will be over 50 fathoms for rockfish in December. I asked this question with Game Wardens 2 weeks ago and I was informed that you can drop hoops for crabs under 50 fathoms while having Rockfish on the boat but you can't not have any fishing line in the water less than 50 fathoms. I will confirm with Game Wardens again about your question. Thanks for your question. We will make sure we understand the regulations correctly to avoid tickets and enjoy our times on the water.
i think you are wrong about not being able to pull your hoops in over 20 fathoms even if you have rockcod. Law says you cant take rockcod over 20 fathoms. doesnt say you cant possess or have them in transit.
You are correct sir. I email game gardens and they confirm with me that you can drop hoops over 20 fathoms if you do not have line and hooks in the water. Thanks for watching and your comment.
@@Fishing247 i know that there are folks thinking that they cant go pick up hoops after fishing and they are wasting time by sitting on their hoops first and then going into shallow water to get their rockcod and lings. You have good intentions to help people not get ticketed but the title of this video is misleading unless the reader goes through all of the comments and replies. Best of luck to you and be safe out there.
YOUR HOOPS ARE ILLEGAL. REVIEW THE REGULATIONS ABOUT HEIGHT OF HOOPS, AND THE WIDTH OF THE RINGS. YOUR TOP HOOP APPEARS TO BE TOO HIGH AND TOO WIDE. CHECK YOUR REGULATIONS!!
Thanks for watching brother. Sometimes looking is deceiving. I know about type B hoop net regulations. My hoops dimensions are as follows: bottom ring is 35", top ring is 18", and it is 9" tall. The type B hoop net regulations: bottom ring max is 36", top ring no less than 15" and no higher than 10". I appreciate for your time to watch my video and your comment.
Another great informal video all I gotta say is “yeahhhh BaByyyh” 👍
Yeah baby. Really appreciate.♥️

Awesome brother. I am glad you like my videos. I love to fish in the ocean more than bay, river or lake.
@@Fishing247 I forgot to ask you how much weight is your hoop. what’s a good amount of weight for our area to use so the crap pots do not walk away

Thanks for the tips! Can’t wait for this crab season. It’s too bad the weather doesn’t look good for the opener.
Yup. It is a little rough. Just be careful. Safety first.
Gotta say, I’m excited about crab season 👍
Me too and the same for many. Thanks for watching.
Great info Thuy! Thanks
Thanks for watching. I just want to warn people who do not pay attention to ridiculous regulations.
Crazy regulations!! Good thing you sharing the news
Due to the complicated regulations, fishing/crabbing has become stressful and no more fun for us.
We all need to get together and protest these ridiculous regulations!

😮😮😮Time flies! Another season is upon us! Great info to keep everyone from getting a ticket, so they can have a good time! 👍👍👍
Definitely time flies. Thanks big brother JU for your supports.⚒️⚒️
I love your videos I am by San Jose California
I am glad you like the video. I am from San Jose too.
@@Fishing247 I am by Blossom Hill in Camden Avenue
Appreciate the info!
Thanks for watching. I just make sure people are aware of the changing in fishing regulations.
Good luck.
Thanks brother.
This weekend opener weather doesn’t look good
I know. Safety first. Thanks for watching.
Got to remember that 20 phantom is around 120 ft but the 20 phantom line can go threw deeper water as long as you stay in that line you are ok
Yes sir. I can't cover everything. People also need to understand the basic of RCA lines, MPAs... Thanks for your information.
What is the reasoning for the new regulations? I still have 6 cage type traps I can’t use. So I haven’t been crabbing in 2 years!
Yup. I know. Very frustrating. It is sad but it is the reality. Thanks for watching.
I am assuming if you can go the other way, meaning you can crab in deeper than 20 fathom waters first, then rockfish in less than 20?
Yes. It is legal that way or just fishing and crabbing under 20 fathoms.
I believe you are wrong.

Good to have a galley that way you can have a rockfish lunch just discard the bones and stuff in your crab trap before the man shows up
Lol. Thanks for watching.

Yeah, the regulations just seem like a gotcha. I don't see the point of flip-flopping every month.
And that was the compromise. CA DFW was forced into after protest. They got sued by the feds over copper and quillback rockfish 2 years ago.
Yup. If people are not careful, they will pay a big price for a ticket. Fishing or crabbing is not fun and relaxing anymore.
Thanks for the info.

They make it sound like my hoop nets can accidentally catch a rockfish. These regulations make no sense. 🫤
The Rockfish regulations make it complicated.
