I streamed this game for about 100 people today and it was great! It's really chill which allowed me to interact with my chat while still focusing on mining and other things. Giving them the choice of which planet to go to or what to name things was also great interaction. I think streamers will benefit most from this game, but it's also fun to play alone imo
omg i luv ur vids
Didn't think I'd find u here introspecktive
+Not a Sheep your wool sucks
:v
I love your videos bro :D
Love your vids man!
Hype can be one of the best and worst things for a game.
yep
Look at Overwatch. It's the perfect example of this. It lived up to the hype, but the haters think it was overhyped.
Maybe the trailers for it was...Overwatched :D?
It can be the best and worst thing of anything
+Stan Knight the cringe is real.
18 quintillion planets, 20 inventory slots.
foxdemon yeah I know you can upgrade lol, my suit is maxed, but let's be real, it's a fucking pain.
less inventory spots than runescape
20 inventory slots, 15 - 20 different resources. Seems fair to me
An upgrade takes up an inventory slot as does any relic that you can sell that you find whilst exploring. It's an absolute nightmare.
+Time2LevelUp don't forget relics can be stacked
I have to say we really enjoyed our time playing No Mans Sky, and I'm seriously hooked. I can't get off the game, it's just such a soothing adventure.
I concur. This is a game you can truly lose yourself in (and I'm not saying that lightly).
i dont like games where you sit in your room alone for 6 hours and achieve nothing, like fallout
No Man's Sky is terrible.
I miss the days when games were full version and not a tech demo for full price.
I like your icon lol
I miss days when people actually seemed to give even the slightest shit and respect for other people and what they stand for.
How is this game a tech demo? I highly doubt you have even played it.
Ive seen someone reach the center. Its the most disappointing thing ive ever experienced.
+The Fresh Peddler - Beats For People Who Hate Radio I have and it's a tech demo.
That Mario balloon though...
haha
Yay, Proto is here xD
didn't expect to see you here... not sure why, but hi
It's mah boi
Hey it's you
Definitely a game where people need to have realistic expectations. The hook of the game is the joy/wonder of exploring. Great video Boogie!
Weird to see you here haha I really enjoy your content, keep it up!
+Stun Zeed she is showing boogie some support
yeah, when people were having these insane ideas i thought "no way" so i dont expect much. im still waiting for a reviews anyways
+Storme Prince Not so sure you had realistic expectations then. I bought it for the fact that I can explore entire planets, even if they are all much the same the whole way around at least I can say I've looked and discovered everything on each and every one I explore. I haven't bought it for the combat because that is only a tiny part of the game. It's about exploration and discovery and that was explain about a quintillion times, you also have to remember that only about a dozen people made the game, if you're unimpressed by a game of this size made by a few people then your realistic expectations are way off the mark.
+Matty Jones LMFAO
The game is not worth 60 dollars, PERIOD.
Well your internet opinion is law. Thanks for making that decision for everyone in the world.
Let's do some math. There are 15 employees at Hello Games right now, it started with 4, averages 11. So, call it 11 employees over 4 years, or 44 man years.
75k a year is a reasonable salary for the average upper-mid-teir dev, odds are some could be more in the 100k+ range. So, 75,000*44=3,300,000 dollars needed only for the salaries.
Let's say costs are about 300k a year, keeping computers up-to-date, replacing them all in 2013, keeping the power on, one-time hires, etc. That's another 1.2 mil, making it 4.5 million dollars to develop.
Now, hard numbers. They make at most 66% on a sale, after distributor cuts (steam, psn, humble, etc) and costs (printing discs.) So, $40 per game.
So, all up, in order to break even on a LOW estimate, they need to sell 4,500,000/40 units to break even, or 112500 sales to not lose money going by a very conservative estimate on the cost.
TL;DR: Developing games is expensive, so the cost is somewhat justified. You may not think that 60 of your bucks is reasonable for the experience you'd have, sure, but the price isn't unjustified.
You better pray larger companies don't use your line of thinking and start selling their games for over 100$
+Grissol I know right dude. Or out of a hobby
+droppingplates87 you're very welcome.
I wonder how long it would take to explore a boogie-sized planet.
Sorry please dont kill me
sounds like your jealous?
FOREVER :D
I forgive you.
Go away.
ask his wife ;)
Well, at least No Man's Sky was finished when they released it. Can't say the same for very many survival/crafting games...
*Cough DayZ Standalone cough*
No it wasn't ... it needed a massive day 1 patch! Hence the reason the guy who got an early copy stated that the game was buggie
The amezing Mr p If they need to patch it, then it's not complete. If the game was not broken it wouldn't need a patch. The same applies for your Battlefield scenario ... they were not complete either.
it's not done though. isnt there still base building a multiplayer they are planning to add?
+Aussie Gamer it's still a day 1 patch. meaning that it was finished on release
hmmm... people say this game is repetitive, yet people play cod, battlefield, dota, lol, csgo on the same maps constantly. they give you pretty much unlimited planets and people still moan.
2 completely different genres of games, you can't compare those.
Shooters and Moba's have the multiplayer aspect. Which makes each game different. Singleplayer games can make you do the same exact task over and over, without anything different from the first time you did that thing.
What different does it make if you go to a purple planet with weird creatures every time over and over and over again if the game is boring, they lied about the multiplayer component and doesn't have a compelling story ?
jzacarias117 'They' lied?? If you mean the community then yes. But the creator stated that it would be almost impossible to find someone else. Even the steam page sais singleplayer in order not to be confusing.
Because those games are actually fun. Idiot. Lol
The only reason review codes where held on to as long as they did, is because they want to delay reviewers as long as possible in order to gather as many sales possible, before everyone realizes how shitty this game actually is.
Nice conspiracy.
No they didn't, the game went gold but still wasn't finished. Literally EVERY SINGLE game now goes gold before it's actually finished. That's why you always see a day 1 patch for a game. Difference between HelloGames and every other studio is that they're a team of 12 people, not 200 - 300. The game went gold and they spent a full month working on the first Day 0 patch they put out that changed the game DRASTICALLY. They're STILL working on it now. They don't take vacations and they barely rest. Put your conspiracies to bed, it's just simply not true. This isn't EA or Ubisoft we're talking about, it's a small indie team from a guy that literally sold his house because it was bought of using "EA money and it felt dirty". Think before you type up some bullshit man. You just sound so stupid.
Jeremy Michael Doesn't matter if you have 12 or 1200, for $60 a pop (NOT an indie price mind you), at least make sure your game works as intended prior to shipping, I've seen better games with just 1 or 2 devs on staff. This is a classic example of: "Biting more than you can chew". It is clear they knew full well what they had on the table, otherwise they would have allowed others to do a full review prior to releasing their product.
🖕
+3li0 Sony forced them to make it 60 bucks
I don't understand how people could over hype this game or even think it's 'boring'. It was explained about a quintillion times by Sean Murray what it was about. I knew months ago, if not longer than that, that it was mainly about exploration. That is exactly why I want to play it, it's the only time that I'll be able to discover and name new things, the only time that I'll be able to travel in between planets, discover new star systems knowing there are thousands or millions of other players out there some of whom may come across my discoveries. The fact that they are going to continue to add new stuff into the game is great too because so many dev studios/publishers use the lure of dlc to get you to buy into the hype for a particular game and the dlc is utter crap or wildly overpriced for what you get.
people are idiots and humanity is doomed thats why
+eg0zb I think you're pretty much spot on with that. 👏
Every comment section for video interviews he gave was people completely ignoring what he said cause they wanted COD in space.
My main issue isnt what you do in it, its what my motivation to do it...
My fun with a game like this will die quickly if i dont have a clear objective to work toward... yeah the main goal is to get the the center of the galaxy/universe but to me the game is so big it almost seems pointless to work towards it...
so whats my next goal, or what mini goals are there that helps you towards the main goal
I had the same problem with Minecraft, but I eventually found things that interest me and I like to do that. It ends up being a game I can come back to periodically and expect to have fun. Honestly, I think it's an inherent problem with survival games. But people do all kinds of things in Minecraft, a lot of which Notch probably never imagined. NMS will be the same, I expect. Sure, a lot of people will rush to "finish" the game, but other people will find other things that interest them, and do that instead. It's kinda the beauty of games that just drop you off in the middle of nowhere and say "good luck, try not to starve to death". The ultimate goals, beyond survival, are really whatever you make of them.
I don't understand why people are upset, the game is exactly what they said it was
^^This.
I wouldn't say that I was on the 'Hype Train' but I did watch most of the content put out by Sony and Hello Games prior to the release of NMS. However, after spending about 10 hours with the game today I have to say that it is exactly what I expected it to be based on what we were told.
There's multiplayer?
+LOUDMOUTHTYRONE yes. It's just the galaxy is so big your odds of finding another player are very low. We've known this from the beginning. It's like one of the most talked about aspects of the game.
+_ zorged :o
I must add that actually, you can't see (yet) other players at the same place as you. You can see the way they named it or whatever but you can't see them. On the nomansky's subreddit somebody submitted it. It's sad but let's hope the updates make it possible
SCI-FI? Check. Space Exploration? Check. Crafting? Check. Survival? Check.
Think I like this just fine :p
The science fiction part of it isn't too great.. it shouldn't even be in the sci-fi category to be honest.
+Cristiano Salgado You are an idiot.
Sounds like mine-craft minus the space exploration.
It uses Science based Fiction as a setting. How is it NOT Sci-Fi?
Space battles. Don't forget that.
This game would get 10/10 if it was $20. As a $60 game it is just not worth it.
True
No, this game is boring as hell
Coding and programming a game like this is not easy, the algorithms are insane in order to create a world like this, people think that games with high-graphics should be full-priced when people don't know they use the same engine all the time and No Man's Sky is new. I think they deserve every $60 people spend to get this game. Just saying, but respect your comment. I could say Overwatch is not worth $60 with a repetitive engine and not even has Campaign mode,, don't get me wrong, I love it, but maybe $30 should be better, but you know what? Every developer has the right to price its own creation. ;)
Try No Man's Sky, you won't regret it.
60$ is NOTHING!!!!!
Lazy people don't DESERVE to have hobbies.
Overwatch isn't worth $60, but it was worth $40. Especially considering the extra content. That said, I'm not too into Overwatch. Got Subnautica for $12 marked down from $20. That seems like a fair price for a crafty crafty game. Still, it's all relative. Coming to your main point. That's the issue with procedural lots of complex algorithms and difficult refactoring for a mediocre product. A game is ALWAYS better when the levels are properly designed. I gotta give it to something like Rogue Legacy which does procedural right. But, I'd prefer a massive well designed world like GTAV or Arma:Apex to any random procedural because the human element is generally what leads to good design, I think.
No man sky more like no guy buy- Dunkey
😂😂😂
This is like the 10th time I've seen someone make this comment. It isn't very clever to be honest.
+Luis Chapa it's just the way he says it that's funny
I've heard more creative things on the back of cereal boxes
Your english sucks
Expecting a majority of gamers to be reasonable, realistic, and keep up with something is nigh impossible. Thanks for your thoughts man, sounds about what I expected it to be.
hey my friend, you are 100% correct
With that being said. The game just isn't fun. Like at all. It's an experience for sure, a unique one at that. But that doesn't make it fun.
Boogie and HYPE have something in common. Unrealistic expectations
No Man's Sky is hand's down the most boring, painfully slow-paced, utter waste of money, over-hyped game I have ever had the misfortune to suffer. Absolute waste of money, and time.
i agree. never pre-ordering a game again. scarred 4 lyf
I don't have a ps4 and was bummed I couldn't get this. Went over to a friends house to play it with him. After two hours I had my fill.
Jake Mitchell tbh I got burned out after 2 hours as well. luckily steam is a boss and they let me refund the game.
It's supposed to be slow and peaceful idiot
😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 now you see the pile of shit you would've walked in if you did have one.
Overhype and its the consumers fault? Pretty sure this was marketed as a multiplayer game from the get go, then we were told not so much, and then 2 ppl happened to already meet up and couldn't see each other. so...
their servers might hve lost connections
It really didn't. They did a variety of tests on Twitch. The developers lied.
Actually, the devs specifically said multiple times that this was NOT a multiplayer game. That's the part that a lot of people overhyped.
I think it was also just difficult to find reliable info about the game unless you knew where to look, because I had a google alert set up for articles about the game, an there was a LOT of inaccurate statements about it. And once one website put up an article, others would write their own article based on the one with false information, like a game of telephone.
So the only place to find reliable info was directly from the devs mouths.
No you were told, "Not so much" from the get go. This game was NEVER marketed solely as a multiplayer experience. You're part of the group that does 0 research.
sean murray directly referenced the players meeting and said that features were broken due to the servers being overwhelmed.
I've already put 41 hours into this game, and I loved every minute of it! Great first look at the game!
I KNOW RIGHT! The planets and the game itself is so beautiful and interesting.
The PC version is only 1 day away so ill be waiting.
waiting with anticipation.
I WATCHED YOUR STREAM!!!
Keep it up😃
T-O-D-D= 4
H-O-W-A-R-D= 6
S-E-A-N= 4
M-U-R-R-A-Y= 6
OH NO PLEASE
S-T-V-N = 4
M-O-L-E-N-U = 6
I'm gonna fucking make that fit.
Hey! It's my twin!
TELL ME SWEET LITTLE LIES
Wait I meant Pter Molenu, didn't I? Stvn is that loony bin conspiracy nut.
wtf lol
The hype for No Man's Sky reminds me of Destiny... and we know how that went.
^
Destiny is freaking awesome! Although I just got it and all of the DLC included taken king a couple months ago so I never played it without all the updates and such. I'm excited to see where Sean Murray takes this game.
Destiny was fun... But hey not all games will be for everyone!
Destiny has gotten a lot better since its release.
I liked raiding in destiny, most fun I had since the old WoW days although I haven't played for a while. The biggest complaints were things like "grinding" and the "story", but really the most fun was figuring out how to beat the raids when they were patched it. If you weren't there for raiding there really wasn't much for you in destiny. I mean if you don't like the core feature of the game, of course it's going to suck, same thing for no man's sky, if you are the kind of person who sees a panda and thinks "well it's just a black and white bear", it's not going to be for you.
The games that get overhyped the most are games that do multiple things, that's the problem of no man's sky, it has crafting, combat, mining, aliens but while they are a part of the game, they aren't the core of the game and get completely blown out of proportion.
Boogie, I disagree with you on one thing: The developers are COMPLETELY at fault for this hype. This is on them. Sean Murray repeatedly talked this game up. He lied through his teeth about many things, multiplayer in particular. They sold pre-order copies under false pretenses.
He repeatedly went into interviews and gave statements talking the game up, saying how it is revolutionary, how nobody ever done this before, how incredible it was. They built this hype. They made this monster. They delayed for years and then they delivered a shoddy shell of what they promissed. They couldn't even optimize it properly for PC. That is the very least they could have done.
+LightYagami100000 in many interviews Sean Murray stated that there would be multiplayer and you can play with friends. This was one of their strongest advertisement points and the game was released without it. And all these people saying "it is but there's such a low chance of seeing someone because the map is so big" need to stop trying to defend the game so much and accept the obvious
The developers themselves said your chances of meeting another player are extremely slim so I'm confused bout what you are saying. Like less then a percent. I've watched a few of them. Glad this isn't going to be multiplayer, I don't like players killing me just for shits and giggles right at the start. And most multiplayer gamers do just that. Even in games based around survival, people are much more happy slaughtering each other.
***** He repeatedly said that you could meet other people. Sure, he said the chances were slim, but he also said MULTIPLE TIMES THAT YOU COULD MEET OTHER PEOPLE.
You can't. If we could, the chances would be slim, but we can't. The chances are 0%. Nada. Multiplayer does not exist in any form in this.
***** Because on release day they completely backtracked on their previous multiplayer statements and declared that it was actually Single Player.
The spokeperson who wouldn't shup up about it before, Sean Murray suddenly stopped mentioned it and has ignored all tweets on the topic even until now.
lol..
Getting hyped for a product isn't beneficial at all.
If you go into a product with little expectations then you won't be hurt if it sucks,
and if the product is good then you're more likely to enjoy it because you didn't have any pre-conceived expectations of it.
I was immensely excited for Dragon Age: Inquisition but when I got my hands on it, I got bored after a couple hours despite the fact it's a good game.
I went into Dark Souls expecting to hate it because of the alleged difficulty but it quickly turned into my favorite game of the last generation.
Just wait and see, don't dissect trailers and don't pre-order. Hype doesn't benefit you whatsoever.
There's nothing wrong with getting disappointed. Hype really pays off if the product satisfies. Even if it doesn't, that doesn't necessarily make it a bad product.
This actually might be the most logical comment ive read all week lol, all i read is kids saying first and finally actually commented a decent comment. good day to you sir and also i totally agree, dark souls is nailbiting at times but a great game.
Yeah been waiting for no mans sky for a while but didn't let my hopes get too high, played last night for 5 hours and loved it
Well said, but your words are waging a losing battle. The hype machine will keep on turning, because it puts money in the pockets of the big business, who don't give a single shit whether the end product is any good. They just want profit. And they always get profit.
so true...
video idea
Francis gets mad at No Man's Sky for not living up to the hype and being "shit"
make it happen boogie 😋
but that isnt his opinion
Nah Nah francis gets mad at no mans sky because he tries flying from his star to the next!
Well he did it 😂
You predicted the future.
It's a simple indie game and it's doing what no game has ever done, an open universe..just like minecraft it's getting hate for no reason, great game and I completely agree
It's damm repetetive.
For being an indie game, it sure is priced as a AAA
+FateBringsMe2U AAA indie game.
AAA solely means high budget.
MrJobocan The point is it isn't a fucking indie game. Sony funded that shit.
+MrJobocan exactly, people don't realize that. Same reason most indie games have low prices, and low sales.
No Man's Sky seems like a very solid $40 game to me. Worth more than $20, but not quite $60.
Yet it's 80
+Isaac Matthew it is $60
$75-$80aud and $60usd
hmm... I'd say 59.2$
but definetally not 60$, hell naw
No, its worth $10
the game is exactly what I expected and I can enjoy it.
I do enjoy it.
It actually exceeded my expectations. I love it.
+mebombu would you mind explaining why? I'm so curious about this gane
+PickledKhan you just explore and find new things, or you can follow atlas (I have no idea what that does) and just get to the center of the univers
+PickledKhan the simplicity of the game and repetition (especially) in mining calms me down. That's one of the reasons I love mine craft.
people hating on this game hard...i think it is fanFUCKINGtastic.
Nah, there are plenty of newly released games that get good feedback. I think more and more people are frustrated on games being released in a half-assed state or devs making or feeding hypes that then dont deliver. I think gaming consumers are beginning to be just like consumers of anything. A thing you buy should work from day 1 and should deliver what it promises, end of story. So i think its good that people are complaining and having certain standards. They should have. And the gaming industry should get rid of all their scammers and lazy developers that rely on releasing unfinished crap and then fixing it over a period of several months. This has to go.
watch videogamedunkey's review, good perspective on the other opinion
D C has the right idea, Definitely watch Dunky's review. Boogie has the same opinion of everybody who starts the game, the first few hours are fantastic. After a good couple of hours it winds up being very repetitive. Which is disappointing :L
nope
IMO, not all games are meant to be played hours and hours on end. This isn't one of them. It's a nice environment to explore as a nice escape from my others games.
Some people think NMS is a triple A game. It's a niche and relaxed game (and an indie game, not a huge budget). Idk I just feel like some people are going into with the wrong idea
it's 60$ . no indie game is 60$
+mottasem mhnnad it is actually an indie game
logic
+mottasem mhnnad that's because Sony are majorly money-grabbing. A dev team of less than 20 people is most definitely indie, compared to the hundreds over at EA, Ubisoft and Activision.
What? Sense when does cost dictate whether or not a game is indie. It was created by Hello Games, an Indie studio.
Great tech demo, terrible game!
Hey...the fatso say: "Don't listen the public opinion" Maybe the game is good, like a say the marketing...
Ad Scientia All you have to do is go to twitch and watch someone play this "game" to see how horribly boring it is. Hell, there probably isn't much appreciable difference between watching someone play, and playing it yourself.
i have and i love it
+Ad Scientia lol what's a fatso
terrible game? coming from someone who hasnt played it. You watched it on twitch and came here to call it terrible? Seems like you want it to be terrible. its funny how people concern themselves with terrible things.
the notion that this is a tech demo is absurd. some of you will eventually learn a lesson about jumping to stupid conclusions.
"Buy the game and try it for urself"
but bruh! 60 bucks bru!
all games are 60 bucks, or would you rather buy the new Call of Dick: Infinite Repetition, with the Modern Rehash HD Remake, for 100$ and be even more disappointed; even if you don't like the game, if you keep the receipt you'll get a full refund
+Cooper McDonald is No Man's Sky a good $60 AAA game? I would say no, but is it a fucking fantastic $15 - $30 indie game? Hell yes.
$60 isn't even that much
+Diego Torres It is if your dirt shit poor with a mortgage.
+Chef Jack well said.
Is it fair to call a game you've played for 2 hours the best of anything? I would love your impressions but 2 hours seems extremely premature to me.
I hated witcher 3 for the first 4 hours, but loved the other 120+ that I played.
2 hours of playing the game is not enough time to judge it. That's why people that play for 2 hours and did a hate review are idiots and people that did a review but liked it are also idiots. Except boogie he's not an idiot. I think steam should increase the time you can play and still refund to like 6 hours instead of 2 so you can truly see what the game is about.
you literally see everything in the game in the first few hours... everything in the game is the same even the space stations are all the exact same and every building you visit on the planets... exactly the same... in 5 hours you've definitely experienced everything worth experiencing...
Totally agree with your comment. For example:
*2 hours it's the first loading of Skyrim on the console version
*2 hours of monster hunter = This game sucks, the monsters are tiny, the stamina bar it's ridiculous and I have to fish!
I have like 12 hours gameplay, discovered three planets and still yet to complete even one of them, I'D give it a 8/10
Not really happy with the visuals expected really better at high settings
New generation games are INDIE games. A small crew, new tech, great art, brave vision and a AAA game. Screw big studios. If they can do this with only 13 people, why would I buy a buggy game made by 250 people.
indie gane at 60 dollars
Barf Chicken 44 So? Better give 60$ to Indie devs than thieving major studios. I bought that game without winking
Preach it, brother. 100% agree with you.
But the game isn't even good nor is it worth $60
The Witcher 3?
I would really like to see multiplayer, you and your friends saving lots of money to buy this 3 man ship, and traveling the galaxy with them, 2 friends shooting other ships, And you finally get enough materials for the upgrades. I love a good solo game, but i feel like i want to explore this huge world with some people.
Aaahm.. I think you're mistaking no man sky with star citizen :|
Really this was the whole point i got the game. Im super salty that it's pretty much obsolete. I love the game but i was really hoping for at least something.
What you describe is what star citizen is promised to be and more.
+xxCrimsonSpiritxx without the 35 year old roleplayers who take it too seriously
TheHolyFox123 Oh yeah sure.. Cause everybody knows passion is a crime punishable by abolishment, riiiight?
Wow good review! I really like this guy. He dresses smart, thinks smart, and presents smart. You've earned a subscriber Boogie! :D
Welcome! You'll find an all you can eat bar to your left, stocked with plenty of perspective, reason, compassion, passion, and humor. Enjoy!
I will!
not stocked with any food though... cos... well... reasons :D
Eats smart?
Agreed, Make that two new subscribers.
I'd buy it at $20-40. $60 is a little too steep of a purchase. The only games I'm executed for at the moment are FFXV and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Maybe even Battlefield 1 (kinda getting tired of the multiplayer fps genre as a whole).
*excited (fuck autocorrect)
+MrAwesomeGamer Ye, I'm pretty edgy like that.
+BossHalo219 Yeah I would execute myself for Skyrim remastered
go to walmart and price match with Amazon
+MrAwesomeGamer Fuck, if that's the case, I'd do it for Half Life 3.
the same kind of thing happened to fallout 4
Fallout 4 was released buggy and broken. That is on the developer.
+manniefaces Yep, but this time the devs even said not to over hype it
+manniefaces nah
Plus Fallout 4 was a shitty Fallout game.
+Brick ByBrick someone is a salty fanboy
Watched over 45 mins of gameplay and decided this game is not for me. It feels soooo boring!
Funny, I watched over 45 mins of it and said, 'Yes!' - to each their own, I get it, but a game that I can veg to, great idea for me. Evens me out, lol
EnvyShade Thats cool, I guess you either hate it or love it with this game. Enjoy it dude. Happy exploring!
I love this conversation. we need more of this on the internet. keep it up you two! respect for others personal preference is the only way to end the senseless bickering online.
I have 6 or so hours in pc so far and I'm enjoying it. Certainly not for everyone but I like just going around discovering things and naming animals incredibly childish and juvenile things lol
I feel it's an interesting concept. And it's decent while you're playing it. But to me there's not enough substance. I don't care about the Warriors and the other factions. (I don't remember the other one). But there isn't enough "rich" content for me. But it's concept is done well, just isn't for me. I'm enjoying 7 Days to Die but to each their own.
You want a game like the devs described? Go check out Star Citizen
By the time that game releases, or even achieves a stable Beta, we'll already be flying around in our personal spaceships in real life.
Star Citizen is even worse because its never even gonna come out.
He is right though :)
I can see that game being the biggest disappointment of all time.
What interview did the No Mans Sky devs describe their game as being like Star Citizen?
No Man's Sky is the new Spore, Sadly!
Not really no.
+vugibu oip Yes, really
+Avg Gamer calm down bitch
+Avg Gamer Nah.
+Issac Mathai He's referring to the hype surrounding the game, not the game itself.
The problem is Starbound came out. And that cheaper albeit 2D game has more content in a single solar system than seemingly the entirety of No Man's Sky. If they copied Starbound fully and just made it a 3D/First-person then it would actually be really good, but as of now Starbound is a vastly superior game for less money.
Agreed
Starbound and Empyrion are 10x better imo.
I will disagree I find them quite different
Nail on the head.
Star bound doesn't have space combat or space flight other than traveling between planets. The planets are also extremely small compared to no man's sky. Those aren't all the differences, but it's a few. I love star bound and no man's sky both, and they feel very different to me. Star bound seems more like terraria in space. No man's sky feels like living in the star was universe.
"Not a marketing thing" & "Not talked up".... You've got to be kidding me. How many things was Sean talking about being included in the game - that was dumped without the players even hearing about it? They have all reasons to be upset, not because it was delayed on PC, or never released on xbox - but because the developers straight out lied about the features of the game.
The elephant in the room being multiplayer - Sean actually saying (several times) you could play with friends, interact with them and somehow grief them (?). Space battles are near non-existing, you can't destroy space stations, as he was also saying. Many of the features displayed in the trailers and "gameplay" is removed from the game: Sandy/desert planets, proper orbital physics of the planets, alliances being useful, different classes of ships (essentially removing a big part of the game)... the list goes on!
I especially love when Sean stated that "Noone knows what dinosaurs looked like, and therefore this will be a whole new experience" - I know for a fact that dinosaurs did not have a square tail, oversized head and hooves!
There really is no justifying what they did with this game. It was hyped because, on paper, it sounded like an absolutely fantastic game! The downsides mentioned does not even regard the framerate drops, numerous crashes, bugs, and so on.
For the people who loved the game, great for you - but please don't say this is worth 60 dollars. They tricked everyone with the way they showed off the game. Even if you love the game, you still didn't get what you were promised - a diverse gaming experience for every player. We're sitting here with our money blown out of the window, while trying to play this vague "space simulator" created with a minimum budget, adverticed as a AAA game.
* in the end - the hype is not what killed the game entirely - far from.
I played for 23 hours and I sadly traded it in because I found myself repeating the same thing for the sake of repeating it again somewhere different, the survival thing turned me off a fair bit mostly with the ship and suit life support I'd prefer the only thing you had to do with survival is fighting people/beats, felt quite empty, with the ships I used needing more fuel after every 2 take offs then not having enough space in my slots for the materials got me bummed because I felt limited being able to travel places
Land vehicles, large populations of village/city/tribes native to planets/npc' s'more story and things to do to fill in all the empty space left in a canvas that is no mans sky
+xxkillzone77 I'd love that, there's just too little. There's so much that has too little to offer. It's just the same shit over and over. They need to be constantly updating this. And the space stations need more variety. And we need shit to build too.
+Raine Welsher maybe one or two compelling story modes that you can find, I think I'll defiantly buy the game back eventually just when it's cheaper and has more content so maybe around New Years
+Raine Welsher base building is going to be in the next update.
This game is step one of a true star wars game. Think about it.
only one important question to me. Is it $60 game? or a $29.99 game for a sale?
It feels...like a $30 game. Am I wrong? it's SporeCraft, in my mind.
If you are interested in it then it is definitely worth the $60 in my opinion
$30 for sure. Needs updates, gets a bit repetitive.
Put in nearly 30 hours so far and I'm still in the first solar system. Def worth $60.
Hmm. Ok, good to hear. I'm up in the air. Nothing wrong with that I suppose. It looks epic though!
It's $60 but really worth it. There will be multiple free updates. NO PAID DLC! The creators don't believe that players should pay for new content after paying for the game itself.
Sean murry did say his team will update the game with new content so the game will definitely get better as time goes by.
It doesn't matter, its core is boring and lame. Adding paid dlc isn't going to fucking do anything.
+BigBagOfFrikenAirFak it's been confirmed free expansions and dlc ya troll
+BigBagOfFrikenAirFak I've had a blast playing this game. I smoke a J and just get lost for hours. After I played a few hrs I told my brother that a lot of people wouldn't like it because of the overhype and there's no multiplayer or intense action/fighting. After a hard days work this is the game I play 1st because the music, art style and gameplay is just so relaxing and fun.

Sean has said a lot of things..._
3 hours in this game is exactly as i thought it would be. It is awesome.
As I first woke up and laid eyes on my ship for the first time, I felt a sting on my skin, my enviro suit was smoking! I had started on a planet with a constant Toxic rain. I opened the boxes and searched around my ship. The first plant I come across moved a little as i neared, so I bravely continued to get closer. All of the sudden this plant lashed out at me grabbing at my leg, striking me hard I swear I could feel my life essence start to fall. I quickly, and bravely backed away from this, none too happy, plant. I pulled out my scanner and added this aggressive life form to my index, and a mental note to steer clear. I found a strange red orb hidden in the wreckage. I am still unsure what it did for it sure was pretty.
As i started to explore my surrounding's my suit was getting weaker and dropping fast, I had to do something. Not far from the ship I can see a cave so i set off for shelter, i hoped. After discovering several new plants, while taking cover in the near by cave. I was revealed to see my suit regen to full health. Well one problem down about 100 more to solve.
Now my ship is fixed, I have been flying around the planet for a few hours now discovering new life and locations of interest. As i know my story is just beginning.
i wish every game had a demo to play cause i cant judge reviews on games cause there different thoughts to what i feel makes a great game.
same
Considering the mass size of this game, a demo would not give you a true depiction of the game. Or atleast it would be difficult.
+Im Derk I'm only asking for a small chunk of the game or even a custom demo designed for what the company want to offer in the demo for the right size and build
Well i remeber the time where they had but yea i think demo is needed for every game it's better then a review you can play the game for short time and then see if it's something you like
ill probably just buy it on steam and if i dont like it ill refund it
I've played for 13 hours and I am loving the game. Ps I haven't left my star system yet I got 5 planets and 1 moon.
When I get it on PC I am going to make it my goal to learn as much of my starting system races language as possible before leaving that star. I have a feeling its going to take me a good long while. But im sure i'm going to have fun doing it.
+GiantSavage117 That's what I'm doing though I didn't plan it. So far I've put in 30ish hours in NMS so far and haven't left my 3 planet system yet. Ive managed to learn over 1000 words and locate every species in 2 of the planets (supposedly). Having a blast.
multipleman910 I'e been playing for 3 hours now and am having the hardest time finding the last animal on my beginning planet, despite knowing how to use the visor. But I did get a new ship already and have 20 words and counting. Having a lot of fun. Although my starting planet is a bit of a downer, just a big wasteland with some trees and tiny cacti like things here and there.
+GiantSavage117,
My starting planet on PC was a cold desolate world but it had trees, other plants and a few small animal species. I didn't explore too much as once I got the necessary things, I fixed my ship and left. Nearly 3 hours later and I'm still in the starting star system even though I have built a hyper drive. The system has 2 moons too, each of which is unique; one is almost totally barren but with life underground and in crevasses, the other is semi-tropical. Quite a lot of variety in one system, so I have no need to leave yet. I've decided that once I exhaust the resources/discover everything, I'll make the jump.
so my buddy got this game today I went into it know nothing about it and I found it visually beautiful in its art form, and very fun, considering getting on pc nor sure tho. but for the 3 or so hours played it was enjoyable and entertaining
knowing *
+Sticky the Squid nah, it was Just the marketing pretty much.
remember steam's return policy 120 minutes of play or less better be less and refundable.
steam customer review: overwhelmingly negative:(5,258) mostly negative:(71,137)
Their promo video showing big animals attacking each other and smashing trees is false advertising, BUT with that said; the game is fun to play!
So far I have seen no evidence showing that that kind of thing is _not_ in the game, it could be something you find as you get further into the game. But I haven't seen anything like it either so we shall see I guess.
Its too soon to call it fact, unless there is a video or interview I don't know about that says otherwise.
+GiantSavage117 That is true.
+GiantSavage177 yeah, this game is massive, who knows what's possible on a fraction of those planets. Other than the devs obviously.
Even they don't really know though
I highly doubt anything shown from the e3 trailer is present in the game, if it is it's a downgraded version of it. From all the planets I've visited and the 20+ hours of gameplay(Milestones have been fully unlocked, so I do explore), I've only seen a dozen giant creatures and based on their movement and AI its pretty obvious that things were changed(watered down). They will probably "improve" it hopefully in later updates, but for now it feels like what Ubisoft always does with their games.
This game is the next Minecraft, for better or worse. There is a goal, but it is impossible to complete the ENTIRE game. Tried it for 4 hours and it didn't hold my attention. Dull and repetitive.
Your dull and repetitive.
+Valor708 wow nice comeback (sarcasm) people like you make valor look bad.
+Agent Frank Butterman true we all had high hopes for the game. I wish it was on xbox 😢
+Agent Frank Butterman hype has killed my hopes in anything.
Im pretty sure he was joking buddy
Several things.
1: I've stayed off of the stupid hype train as it does no one any good..... Ever
2:I love this type of game, survival and syfy.
3: I'm unfortunately waiting till the 12th to get my hands on it, and I'm staying away from any and all spoilers.
4:Keeping my expectations down to a reasonable level so I think I'll have a ton of fun with it.
I bought it for PC and ps4. You won't be disappointed.
How is it a survival
+J Roach6634 he means survival as in craft your recourses and that stuff not as in survival horror.
Might have misinterpreted what you said but I'm not really sure.
PlagueBoy Nope you got it right haha. I do love survival horror as well. But I meant survival as in you craft resources and have to survive on planet to planet.
J Roach6634 I meant it as in you craft better resources for your gun, suit, ext. to be able to survive on hostile planets and such.
I can't believe this game costs as much as GTA 5.
Space engineers is better in every way.
It is and looks great, i don't see how its better though i think both of them looks great.
Hes probably talking about how much more there is in Space Engineers.
How big is the Space Engineers universe? No Man's Sky is bent towards exploring. What I saw of Space Engineers, and the name is that it is more about building.
Yeah but they don't have the same objective
Space Engineers is infinite i believe but don't quote me on it
This is about as good enough of a review for me. I'm sold. Getting it tomorrow. Thanks boogie!
._. First impressions. Not a full review...
+Huzi37709 he never said it was a full review.
+john Whoops, I misread :P
+Huzi37709 Shut up.
Clemente Küchle ?? Ok...
Oh really? but money doesn't grow on trees or from making videos for us, Boogie. $60 is a lot for some of us
By that reasoning no game should be 60$ if it a lot of money to you. Buy it on pc when it goes on sale.
+Edgar Venzor "buy it on pc" u realise there are 2 different kind of people right?! Pc & console plus to run that game smoothly ull have to buy a pc twice as much expensive(minimum)than a console right?! Damn youre an idiot dude don't worry tho u arent the only one!! "Buy it on pc" 😂 maybe if u give him one as gift
wrong you can get a PC that can run it for the same price, if you know what to buy. Consoles are just "easier" because you can just buy it and play.
+MrPerfectjake this is true...sadly
This complain is beyond stupid, here is why: The game will drop in price in the next 6 month. If anything there will be an autumn sale in 2 month or so, there will be a christmas sale. + The game will be more stable with more content and essentially patched in 6 month. A lot. So complaining that the game is 60 buck is beyond stupid, it will be 20 bucks sooner than you know it.
Thanks for the awesome video, I totally agree with you. I am one of the lucky few who had never really even heard of the game until around the date of the PS4 launch, when one of my fav RUclipsrs (sorry, I've just now found you . . . ) posted a video of the game. From that point until a couple of days ago, I watched him and a couple others play the game. I tried and tried to resist buying it, but finally did a couple days ago, on PC - I don't have a PS4 - and I love it! I was not at all a part of the Hype Train, but even so, I have always been the kind of person to say, try a game out and if you like it, fine, if you don't, fine - just don't play it. Hype is BS and people need to form their own opinions, which you can't do until you try it for yourself. Plus, I've always felt that people need to enjoy a game for how it was made, and not freaking try to mold (mould?) it into what they want it to be. Again, play it if you like it for what it is, and just don't, if it's not something you want to play. I know for some people they might say "Yeah, but I would really love it if they'd just change this one little thing . . .!" Sorry. I've now seen posts where people are griping about stupid things, like that there is not enough inventory space. These people either haven't really looked around, or they just have no clue that you can find drop pods all over a single planet and add an inventory slot at each one. I've seen one guy, so far, with about 40 additional inventory slots on his eco suit, so I'm going to "assume" (dangerous, I know) that each planet, moon, star, w/e, has drop pods, and I have no idea so far just how many slots you can have. Sure, it does cost more and more for each one you get, but it's up to you to spend the units on it, and it's really not all that hard to earn units, it just takes time. People just need to get over this stupid age of "entitlement" and learn to be individuals. Check videos out or check out the game itself, and make your own damn decisions!
Thanks again, for sharing your videos!
eh, I'll stick with Rebel Galaxy for now, it's free on PSN and I'm having lots of fun.
Me too.
Wow u guys get the good games. We're stuck with shit like Warriors Oopsy 13 and some gay wrestling game.
Lol. Rebel Galaxy is like a bootleg no man's sky
As someone that's played Rebel Galaxy, I can say the two games have very little in common. Rebel Galaxy, from what I've experienced, puts a heavy emphasis on sidequesting, trading, collecting bounties, etc. to upgrade your ship, get better weapons and defenses, stuff like that. No Man's Sky is more of a survival-based game, with no real quest system other than the final goal of reaching the center of the universe. It's unfair to compare the games, as the only thing they really have in common is space travel.
Rebel Galaxy is not similar though. Rebel Galaxy has no z-axis. It's still a 3D game, but you can't make your ship go up or down, only left and right. You can't actually land on planets. There is no real exploration.
Rebel Galaxy is a different kind of game. It's more story and narrative based, without all the technical features that No Man's Sky has. It's not generated, it's not really exploration based.
Rebel Galaxy is still a good game, and a lot smoother and more polished than No Man's Sky, but the two are not very comparable other than you can control a ship in space.
Last time someone came this early I was born...
So you were not in your mum's belly for 9 months? Pls delete your comment
+Phillip Meyer lol right
I didn't say that I was born straight away after someone came early just that it happened following that
Nah fam I just wanted my place in the Internet next to the obviously superior and higher beings such as yourselves
but.... it takes 9 months to be born after getting impregnated
The only people who are going to be playing this game for more than a week are streamers and people who are impressed by every grain of sand they find.
The game is all about quantity over quality. The junk food of exploration games.
k
Might want to re-read my comment.
I'm about 10 hours in and still loving it. I've explored 4 or 5 systems, 10-12 planets, named the things I've found interesting, interacted with everyone, explored all the cool things. I've made no effort to head to the centre of the galaxy at all. I'm just enjoying the encounters and battling the different terrains :)
Is it bad that I pretty much take boogies word for gospel?
Nah lol
+Themexicansloth I do also.I won't go to movies he gives bad reviews
No, not at all. I think he's among the very few on RUclips who review games in an honest way that is presentable. There are honest reviewers here, but their presentation sucks. ACG, Boogie, and Angry Joe are the reviewers I generally listen to the most (in that order). Overall Boogie's just an awesome guy.
yes, forming your own opinion on matters is what makes you an individual its not like your some part of boogie you're your own person
Boogie is a gifted orator
This game is 5.0/10 on Metacritic. No need to say much else. The game is just trash and not worth your 60$
fuck u
Metacritic isn't a very reliable source
That is the user ranking. The user ranking space is nearly useless when it comes to console exclusives, and a game as polarizing as No Man's Sky. As far as whether it is worth MY money, it is MY money, so speak for yourself. It is OBVIOUSLY not worth your money. But for you to say what it is worth or not, that is a different thing. It is worth MY money so, far. As far as it being yours, it is obviously not. And considering you have Hitler as your avatar, I am not sure I would like what you like.
Have you played the game though?
ok. right. Because 4chan totally didn't brigade those reviews. I don't think the game is good and I won't buy it but at least I can recognize fake reviews when I see them.
Hype is dangerous and the media abuse of it to get Clicks.
no mans sky is for gamers. not fps fanboys who have no experience with rpg style games.
Its not even really a game, its just an expensive thing that you do when you chill out and dont want to put effort into anything, you sit there and do nothing for the whole "game" id much rather spend $20 on Subnautica which is a good and unique game than spend $70+ on No Man's Wallet
No Man's Sky is for people that enjoy watching paint dry
+MrZodiac011 the games great and your just basically a broke ass complaining about 60 bucks
calisfinesthoe No because id rather by Mafia 3 and Battlefield 1 which i know will be good games not a boring subnautica/minecraft rip off that costs alot more and you could lay 100 hours and have done the same thing every 100 for the whole thing, an absolutely massive amount of planets and a random generate feature doesnt make a good game if every one of those planets has nothing on it, the game is $70-$80 in my country and its just basically a tech demo for a game engine, it has mining and a bit of crafting and thats the whole game, how the fuck is than fun to anyone? people who buy it are morons is expensive, maybe $15 or $20, $25 at most but not $70
***** exactly, well put
all they have done is lie so far
mostly the hype lying
How?
trakchannel how hasn't it like come on its just Sony making a small game hyped up to be a massive game..
The developer told the truth, the hype lied...
+NUCK CHORRIS did you really think you would find someone with such a small chance. When I went into the game i didn't plan on seeing anyone. They said it was a single player experience so they didn't lie. They could be in different instances like many mmos do. It could be in a later major (FREE) update that they'll add later so stfu
The game looks so boring for me. Exploring just seems boring without a point.
The point is too get to the center
same honestly it looks so dull, from what i understand you just basically fly from planet to planet, and thats it
to many games like this that's the problem cool you're in space, and can go different planets, but you just collect stuff, gather, its basically simulator game, very boring one.
Does exploring so many planets help you achieve that goal?
completely false lol
You look like harambe lol
So does your mom
+Xander240Pro looks like you're a 12 year old
lol
+Alex what is your profile pic of
X-Wing @ Aliciousness That's a great question. I found it during a Vinesauce Joel Dwarf Fortress stream, I can't remember the part. The context of this picture is when Joel named his character "Beard Beardedbeards The Bearded Bearded-Hairy Beard of Beards" give or take a bit of punctuation or beards in the name, and he showed us the picture.
I don't think this game is for everyone, but I think people are writing this game off to soon. I have put at least 10+ hours into this game, and I know Hello Games will be adding more stuff over a period of time. For people like me who are space nerds and love astronomy will like this game. People who like fast paced mindless shooters like cod probably won't.
i love stars and astronomy and everything in between, and this game is honestly a dream come true. absolutely love it.
I'm getting flashbacks of destiny
I hate everything but I love this game. I just get an unexplainable feeling when playing it.
It's good there are gullible people like you, it's easy money for them.
***** But you will probably buy the next call of duty with 5 dlc packs worth 15 dollars right? Yah, I'm the gullible one. Also I play on PS4 so no problems for me. :)
The game seems really really fun. But it's bascially minecraft, (crafting and survival) just space version. So, why the hell is no man's sky 80 Canadian dollars. I love to rate games by how much this game is worth. THIS GAME IS WORTH 30 CANADIAN DOLLARS. I would love to play it, but from what the game looks like, I wouldn't pay much to the play it.
legit
yeah that's how I feel about this game
ITS NOTHING LIKE MINECRAFT
Why the hell do so many people compare a survival games to fucking mine craft?
Minecraft doesnt own the survival industry
Whoever said that this game is relevant to Minecraft should not be on this planet
Apples to Oranges. They're very different experiences.
+Brightside Someone said the game was just like Minecraft. I don't see it at all
While they both are look different graphically wise, They're both near infinite procedural generation open world survival games. They're still different but it's not too far off but people that are going to complain are most likely fan boys
they are adding a base building mechanic in NMS. the crafting, exploration, biomes, RNG based maps, terrain deformation, survival, and random critters are all very similar to the experience that minecraft offers with obvious differences as well. I can see how the comparison is made.
whiteboyjimmy20 The gameplay is different. Most of your time in minecraft wont be spent gathering resources but building, killing, or traveling.
The planets & atmosphere's are very drab , dull & empty .. what is the point in spending countless hours crafting & gathering resources if the exploration & planets are so dull & empty ? I don't care if there is billions of planets to explore ... there wasn't any love & care or design put into these planets to make exploring them fun & enjoyable.
If you're landing on planets close and far away from the sun, of course it will be dead. They have said before and again. You need to find the sweet spot for life. That meaning the same or close ratio to what our planet is to our sun.
I see where your coming from. I love exploring and finding new things but what's there to find when I search for 30 minutes using my scanner for the same outposts and cave and animals? And when you find something like a warehouse you sometimes get it wrong. I'm not saying I hate this game but what's the point in exploring when it's close to the same stuff?
lol What natives?
LOL nice damage control, the game is sit.
the fucking sentinels that are everywhere like cockroaches and bother you when you mine too much aka basically play the game.
So I picked this game up on Saturday, played for about 2 hours and took it out of my system. I was planning on returning it that Sunday to GameStop. I knew I wouldn't get my full 65 back but I've struck deals with them before on getting a used refund (50 bucks) so I would only be out 15 dollars. Something kept itching me though, I just had to put it in back in and try it again. and boy am I glad I did. I wasn't on the Hype Train for this game ( Always stay off hype trains if you can) but after putting in roughly 15 hours now " I've neglected sleep, work was great today" I am totally hooked on this game. It is incredible, it takes a little to get shit going. But once you get your hyper drive, get a good ship and get a good weapon, this game is just incredible. I will be playing this and exploring the stars for a looong while.
Good comment. I agree that if it weren't for the ridiculous hype for this game, the reviews would be consistently very high. I can't imagine the pressure those guys must have been under.
I hear you man. I can see issues with the game and it's not perfect. But for me, the pros far out way the cons. And thankfully after about 30 hours now I've only had one crash. And it's pretty much run as smooth as butter for me. I can't wait for future updates and DLC.
S. Gallo Im about 5 hours in. Ive just come across an abandoned ship which is a slight upgrade over my current (starter)ship, but it needs loads of repairs. I havent decided whether or not to switch over. It has a couple more inventory slots which are essentially already taken up by upgrades i dont have, so ill end up with an upgraded ship with the same number of free slots. Its the kind of decision I was hoping to expect from this game. I agree; not perfect, but certainly tobs of potential that i have no doubt will become available in the months ahead through DLC. If you never got on the hype train, its a fantastic game.
It took everything I had not to buy NMS on PS4 today. Already purchased the PC version. I'll just have to watch everyone else having tons of fun on Twitch until the 12th.
Good, you made the right choice of not being a console pheasant.
+MikeIsLive implying that doesn't make him a PC pheasant. Just like how we are all RUclips pheasants
Just searched up what a "pheasant" is and was not disappointed.
+NillKiggers it's a bird. How do you not know that
BeastMaster1919 cause I live in my basement
Remember when we actually had developed and polished games upon release?
And NMS is developed and polished.
It gets harder to do. They should work on games more before releasing but games with a lot of hype will most likely always crash or the servers will always go down the first day it releases.
But developers should fix alot of bugs first then release it. Instead of releasing it and then have a day 1 patch
bullshit it crashes so fucking much and the textures on the ground and some of the animals are fucking awful and gross looking. Polished and developed my ass
right, because the game barely being able to run inless you have some computer the size of a building is alright
John Whiteaker I have a GTX 1080 and 16gb of ram and I can't play the game at 20 fps. This is unacceptable which is why I got a refund.
Hey Boogie may I ask have you heard of a early access title called Empyrion:Galactic Survival? Just went to Alpha v3 this week I recommend it for anyone that likes survival, crafting, scifi more in the vain of Minecraft titles. But it is a title that allows you to create your own bases (ground and in orbit) ground vehicles, small space capable vehicles (some players make these very large to make them more of a drop ship for all there buddies) and warp capable capital ships that can actually land planet side but are so large and heavy they chew through fuel. Currently only have a single solar system to explore with various planet types to explore, but will have a procedurally generated galaxy to explore later on. Also has dedicated multiplayer servers with PvE and PvP flavours available. You have Points of interest to explore and raid with NPC Aliens to hunt and shoot, but not all aliens are hostile, currently the AI is derpy as hell, but the game is still in early days yet.
How did this game get any hype, it looks no different then any other survival crafting game. I haven't been fallowing this game so I don't know anything these creators have promised.
A lot of people got hyped over the procedural generation.
There's quite a bit of cosmetic and engineering differences to make it stand out. 18 quintillion planets to discover, each planet being the size of an actual planet, seamless transition from space to planet and back with no loading screens, actually decent planetscapes considering its all procedural... for someone who is a sci-fi nerd that loves survival games, this is a pretty good buy in for those reasons alone.
When base building is introduced in the (hopefully) near future, I'll bet that will snag even more people.
EXACTLY!!!! point is, the game isn't going to be for everyone, not everyone is going to enjoy it, but some people will find entertainment from it. I think people expect too much sometimes, which is why you shouldn't pay so much attention to the hype of the game. you can't expect more from a game than what the devs have said would be apart of the game, espectially given that it's 13 people, by themselves, who had their studio flooded and almost couldn't finish the game. it's not a perfect game, didn't think it would be, but it's a lot of fun for people who are into sci-fi and survival games. Not to mention, they probably might add onto it, if they don't just allow modders to go ham like what happened with minecraft.
+Bonfire-Chan Which is very strange as procedural generation is shorthand for "this game couldn't possibly be more generic".
The game has push procedural generation to a level other games haven't. The main use was to enable a dev team to create and refine a game universe that would not be possible for themselves to create normally. The size of it is unmatched.
so it's spore?
kinda like the last stage
It's nothing like spore
I played No Man's Sky for 5 hours. It's leagues above Spore.
+TheGuyYouCantStand nothing can't beat Spore
If a dog hadn't heard of Spore or No Man's Sky before and saw a low resolution photo of each through the Hubble Telescope whilst high on magic mushrooms and suffering from cataracts...Then described what he saw by tapping his paw in binary to someone who didn't know what binary, or a dog was... then that person wrote down what he thought the dog might have meant on an old receipt in crayon, scrumpled it up, threw it in a river...then you fished it out and read the first few letters before it spontaneously combusted...then you would still be able to tell the difference between this game and fucking Spore.
i think they lied allot about this game,
no multiplayer, cant find other players, buggy, bad graphics , verry slow
wtf they lied about? you literally said one thing multiplayer? you obviously didnt follow up on the game cuz its looks the same with graphics its a universe stfu noones done a game like this
they legitimately did not lie about a single thing the only thing that they were not clear on what the multiplayer that was literally the only thing they never promised 4K graphics but anything of that sort so you clearly did not do any research before you posted this comment so congratulations on being a moron
They also lied about the system requirements for the PC. I made certain my system exceeded the published minimum reqs. Unfortunately, it did not meet the unpublished ones.
Also look at the freaking graphics and planets, every single planet looked like freaking cgi but now its just same built planets with different colours...
well its not the game everyone was expecting and they fcked up, so sorry for the fanboys but it's just not good enough, yet
Hey boogie great vid. I am 62+ hours into the game - I just found a lush waterworld / green planet with floating islands, and a black hole yes BLACK HOLE for a sunset. Screw all the naysayers - I am not saying the game doesn't need to brushing up, the materials need to stack better, some of the repetitive elements need removing or improving, it should let you do the exploring without as much farming needed - since the exploring is the best thing about the game. The space stations and types of buildings look very similar or the same from system to system - the trading for profit system is painfully simple - but with all its flaws I have just pumped 62+ hours into this game within 2 weeks of its release and it's a LOONNNGG time since I put that amount of time into a game in its first 2 weeks. I think they have the opportunity to make one of the best games in a long time but they need to focus on more content and more depth - hopefully they do this rather than take the money and run.
Is this gonna be like when I was hyped for Spore...till I played it? :'D
No it's an great game
am i the only one who thought spore was/is a great game?
+Shlabedeshlub It was good, but nothing what it was hyped to be 😛
+Shlabedeshlub spore is a great, but i got it a few years after it came out so i dont know about the hype
my problem with spore i liked beginning, i liked end parts, the middle with tribes sucked hard
But the pc-version is crap right now.
Why? I was playing it on PC last night, not sure what the prob is...
What do you mean?
I haven't had any problems with it at all on high settings. It hitches a little when it first starts up where all the stars are zooming past but not a single flaw so far during the actual gameplay.
timthegem well thats nice. i have an intel pentium instead of an i3 so i dont even meet min specs :P
+timethegem guess you're lucky then because it's been constantly crashing for a lot of people and the performance tends to be really bad
I'll play this game, but only when they lower the price to something that equals it's worth. The design & artwork looks very cool to me, but the consensus on the gameplay sounds like it's *definitely not worth $60*, so I'm waiting a while on this one. There are LOTS of other great games to play right now. Also, *Brut@l* looks super-fun and it's $15!
Its worth $60. You realise how big the game is yes?
opinionmcgee You realise game development takes time and costs money yes?
and if it does not look fun to you why do you even care how much it costs?
yep I 100% attacked him, hope he enjoys his time in hospital.
+NINJA_F15H Dude, you sound a bit triggered.
Best survival game ever was a little-known DOS game called FUED. I think it was actually a survival game before it was even considered a game-genre. In it, you were a wizard, and your niegbhor was your nemesis. You gathered resources and unlocked spells while He hunted you, if you could survive long enough, you hunted him. ONE of you, within one session of playing, was going to be IN THE GRAVE. Fucking epic.
I think people were expecting Star Citizen.
i think people should get refunds and wait for Star Citizen... going to be such a better game.
+PriestKikyo never comming out. the game is a lie. you all lost your money.
the 2016 release (if it makes release) will be singleplayer and likely more limited than nms. you all got scammed. I'm sorry.
haha, more limited than nms. not possible.
For a few hours it was fun, but then I realized it was band, empty and boring. There is just no content. Sure you get randomly generated planets, but there's literally nothing to do on them, and you could argue that it was advertised, but the fact of the matter is, it costs 60$ and there is no gameplay, you literally just travel on empty planets with barely any events (if any) and you have to stop every 5 minutes to restock your supplies just to stay alive (oh and lets not mention the horrible, terrible inventory system), and if that's your thing then more power to you, but for 60$ I expected CONTENT.
Its literally walk for 5-10 minutes, find a chest or an abandoned base, walk for 5-10 more minutes, see some weird ass creatures that are meaningless other than being critters or occasionally bland enemies, walk for 5-10 more minutes and see a rock that has a different name than the others so you can mine it and fill up your very limited inventory faster, rinse and repeat, heck even space flight was boring (albeit realistic). Don't get me wrong if you like all that, then good for you, this is just my opinion.
Also the game is buggy, the PC port is a joke at best, and the crashes are unforgivable, which would be ok i guess, if it didn't costs 60$. If it was any other company they would have been lynched for this shit, but oh noes you have to protect the poor indie devs and their 60$ game. And lets not even get into the whole shady business about multiplayer, false ratings, etc., cause that would just be overkill.
Oh and fyi, it is as bad as Spore, at least in that one you had gameplay, even if it wasn't good. Just play No Man's Sky, knowing that its a tech demo, rather than a game and you probably won't get as disappointed.
Yea it looks really dumb and boring as hell.
I think this game is only going to be enjoyable to those few people, who are wannabe snowflakes, that really get off on seeing their name on a planet lol. whoopdeedoo.
Other than THAT, people will be bored with it pretty quick, as you were.
Is there a storyline at all? Like are there characters that grow, a plot or anything or is it is it just an exploration game with trillions of plantes all set in neon?
+Jack Poontaint There is lore but not really any story, but this game would be right up my alley if it were on xbox one.
Sadly no. No plot, no character growth, NPCs are few and far between and the interactions you have with them is merely for gameplay's sake, but I did hear it has an ending so I'm guessing they did put some plot into towards the end. To be fair they didn't say it will have a plot, but I just prefer games with at least a basic story.
+jeff kjata I've never cringed at a comment more than I just did at yours.
I disagree boogie, it is a very bad survival crafting game, you can't even craft your own base. I will agree that it is an awesome exploration game with very basic crafting and survival elements.
It could get better in the future with patches and more content.
I think I read a quote from Sean Murray saying they were going to add actual Base building in an update
They are adding base building in the next update
they will
+Phuck You Well thats fucking dumb they shouldve put it in before relase. would've made the game look way better
+TheHermago Yeah cool, delay the game again after they got death threats the last time. At least the devs are taking their time and not rushing stuff. Stop complaining
Ok, there are some points that aggravate me about the comments in almost every NMS review that i've read. I've been playing the PS4 version of NMS since day 1, but didn't really pay attention to the tutorial and didn't notice that I already has a blueprint for the warp core (fuel), so I ended up in the same solar system for 4 day, vigorously hunting for this item. Now because I thought I was stuck, I searched large portions of the 5 planets in my starting solar system and here's what I discovered:
MINOR SPOILERS
1: There are TONS of places to upgrade the space in your suit... I have 31 slots and seldom run out of space. I've run out of money before running out of space to put stuff because the upgrades become increasingly expensive. The next one will be 270k.
2: There are plenty of crashed ships, I found at 3 on each planet and 4 of them had 20+ inventory slots. An equivalent ship would cost 1.2M-2M. It takes a while to fix them up, but all you really have to repair are the two thrusters so your ship can take off and fly around.
3: THERE IS A STORY BEHIND THIS GAME IF YOU READ THE FREAKING CONTENT!!! You know those monoliths, ruins, abandoned pods and such that scroll text about the games races? READ THEM. They tell about the sentinel origins, a war between the sentinels and the Va'Keen, the fall of the Kovek home world (probably misspelled) and the tyranny of the early Gek. The stories tell about what happened to certain planets and why some are just heaps of rock (some story segments are specific to the planet that they are found on).
What people are flailing to realize is that there's a bigger picture to this game and although a lot of things are just recreations of the "same thing", NMS was never advertised as a fast paced game and getting to the center of the galaxy is great, but what about all the history in between that you learn through exploration and discovery?! It's an exploration game! That's the point that was advertised from DAY ONE! Stop bitching about not having enough inventory slots or what things are the same and see what's different from planet to planet, because differences are there if you look. Upgrades and free stuff are out there, but you have to find them. If you play, play for the long haul because the content will, hopefully, keep coming and the game will improve, again hopefully, for the better.
Tip if you're aimlessly wandering...
If you don't know this yet, craft and use the bypass chips, they will help you on the road to discovering the technology and history of the games inhabitants. Look for the red beam of light emanating from a device in the middle of save areas with pods or upgrade points.
Colonies provide blueprints,
Transmissions will lead you to a lifeform that will help you if you help it (or sometimes tell it to fuck off). You might be able to sell stuff here too.
Monoliths will give you history of a race, of the planet or the planets previous inhabitants.
... I forgot the other one....
Rant complete---
damn I'm surprised he could fit half his body on the thumbnail.
Leave.
I'm surprised you could fit so much troll in one comment.
EVERYONE IGNORE HIM! He's just fishing with some b8.
Bad Tina.
+1V1 ME M8 I'm 12? Your name is 1v1 me m8 lol. U MLG wanna be
in my opinion, I think it's a cool game
I don't think it's worth 60 pounds/euros
seriusly bro? i have the game and its amazing they have put alot of work into it you should be glad it even excist
Basically the way i look at games is, how much am i getting out of my dollar per hour of entertainment. So even using the low-ball estimate of 30 hours to beat i'm basically paying $2/hour for entertainment. That's way better than say a movie which i'll be paying about $5/hour for. So that's where my baseline is, if I can at least get 10 hours out of a game and enjoy every minute of it, then it was worth the money.
/dollars
It's 39.99...not 60 pounds or euros XD
It's like 45 pounds and 60 us dollars dude
I want to play it so much but I have an Xbox ;(
It will come to XBOX .. game classified as a "console launch exclusive"
+Aussie Gamer it wont,Its confirmed to only be for ps4 and pc
Get it on pc. Even a shit laptop can run NMS
Yalfaharr At launch only ... BTW ... PC streaming back to XB1 is coming anyway so all PC games will eventually be playable on XB1
+Jeremy C Lol yeah right lol
Well said, that all makes complete sense. My brother the other night was saying this game was terrible and my retort was 'Have you played it?'. Guess what, no he hadn't. I'll be one to wait until it goes a bit cheaper then pick it up for around £20. Even if it does get repetitive at least there's an ultimate goal. I've put some hours into Destiny and let me tell you, if you can repeat the same levels 1000 times on that then I'm sure I can have at least 40 hours worth of No Man's Sky without getting sick.
I found the game to be fun as someone who didint know the game existed intel my brother downloaded it onto the ps4. iv played about 6 hours. There is alot of mystery in the game you will start noticing it within the first 4 hours hopefully.
But I have to disagree spore is great lol
I think the point wasn't that Spore is bad exactly, but didn't live up to what people thought of it. People shouldn't have overhyped this game. The people saying Sean Murray lied are full of shit, he kept every promise. As far as the players meeting up, Sean Murray apologized and it's been less than a week, people need to give him a break.
oh I didint know spore had a big hype when it was released. I first discovered it two years ago. Thanks for the info
Boogie, you and ppl like you have created the hype and are continuing to promote this trash but what you don't realize is ppl will learn to not trust you or sony just read your comment section no one agrees with you, now please.....continue.
have you played the game its fun and a marvel of software engineering the game is impressive and worthy of praise just on its code alone. that being said this is a much more impressive engine than it is a solid fully fleshed out game. but gives modders tools and a few months and this game could be one off the best and most infinity replayble games. that being said its still fun as is to just relax and play and fuck around it like gta.
I respect everything you said but I completely disagree, I think in two weeks this game will never be thought of again.
not true ill still be playing it
I love when people claim to know things they really don't.
PS. People promote the things they like... "One man's trash is another man's treasure."
Yeah but this is "No man's treasure" lol see what I did there? lol
"you don't do anything" "there's no multiplayer" "it's so repetitive" if you plan on complaining this much about a game get a life and if you don't have one play the game for yourself and make an opinion instead of listening to others
People can criticize a game if they want.
+TheHermago Yes they can. The thing is many are doing so without even playing or having watched the game.
+DeathStorm You dont know what they have and havt done. Stop being such a fanboy
or maybe because the game just came out and people are interested in it they'll talk about it... crazy I know!
+TheHermago He's a proving a point. Of course, you resort to ad-hominem when you can't think of anything else. Typical.
I've consistently heard people blame the players and the community for the overhype, and that is just bullshit. It is a $20 game that got $40 of Sony marketing. On top of that, they've explicitly marketed it as exciting, and mysterious. It's not really a survival game, it's an exploration game. It's basically a tech demo. I get that some people are enjoying that, but the hype and the intentionally misleading marketing is on Hello Games and Sony, NOT the community.
its more for kids imo, mind you there' s a lot of adults out there which act like kids.
Nah
I kind of think it's more for Adult in a way than kids. I'm 32 and to me, kids are all about running and gunning. Shooting and Killing. This seems more tranquil and all about exploring. Giving me that Star Trek dream of exploring and discovering I've always wanted.
i'm 32 as well , it looks to easy for me tho, coming from eve and sto and elite this seems like a cartoon ish vibe imo.
Yea i agree. It seems very very basic. Actual very little content especially compared to Eve. So yea i guess your right but for little kids rather than teens. (I consider teens as kids lol) :By the way, What is sto?
yeah kids for me is teens, sto is star trek online.
