Again you never cease to amaze me. That is one heck of an accomplishment considering it was done by two people. Ryan your lovely smile never fades. Sarah I defy a man to work as hard as you do. You may have your freak outs but like Ryan that lovely smile keeps on shining.
That time-lapse makes it look like easy work but I can appreciate how much effort it actually took. Hats off to ye guys for doing it for yourselves....I am binge watching at the moment cos I am loving the channel so much ye guys r great/amazing. I can't wait to see the end result (I know I am behind a week/month or 8 but I am catching up!
Outstanding! Rafters finished!! You both are starting to look like pros, especially Sarah with her tool belt and on the ladder, balancing on one leg and reaching for one of the back rafters! 😁👍
God Bless you guys doing so good things will start to get easier as time goes by, all I can say is WoW I was worried about you guys also, but then I remembered it was Holiday time and you do have children to take care of. So proud of you guys that was hard stuff to do, I know my wife and I have done it before.
"Throw some tarps on it and live in it!" It's that great sense of humour that'll keep you going until you finally move in. Great job. Just one question. Why is there the birds mouth on some rafters where they meet the wall and no birds mouth on the others?
Good question. The portion without will have a covered deck that extends out and connects to those rafter ends. So no need for a surface to attach the facia.
Great job guys! It is like I told my kids, YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS! Don't get distracted by the little things, and enjoy the hard things, life is full of them, but overcoming challenges is what makes life grand.
THIS! I couldn’t have said this better myself. Looking back on your life, what do you remember? Certainly not the easy things. We hope our kids are watching and learning from our example.
A happy new year to all your family, hope Xmas was wonderful also, can I just say I'm so impressed with your work and ethics,, your home is coming together,,, your both looking so healthy , fit, and well being seems outstanding, although it is stressful your doing great job, ,, I admire your trust in each other, like your tool belts lol, God bless take care your friend AL FROM GLASGOW,,
Great job guys. Can't wait to see you install Fascia boards and sheathing. Tack a 1x4 or 1x6 onto fascia after you have it on. Leave it about an inch above Fascia. Then it will be easier to start your sheathing. It will hold it in place and save a divorce. Lol
Great advice. This scare the little tricks that you only learn by doing or if you have a friendly person to pass it along. Luckily we have some help with the roof and they knew all those little tricks.
There is blocking at the top and bottom. But nothing in the middle according to our plans. The underside is finished with shiplap which will tie everything together.
It was the end of summer. We are behind on our editing schedule. Trying hard to get caught up so we can post as close to real time as possible. Thanks for following.
😆🤣😂😅👍🏽🧔🏽♂️….. Well, I can see who the “ Foreman “ , on THIS job is ?? Right ??😉😉 … No offense , brother , but your wife seems to have all aspects of this construction job , FIRMLY in control and on schedule ! 😃😉🧔🏽♂️👍🏽 … y’all make a GREAT TEAM !!! 👍🏽🧔🏽♂️😃😃😃🇺🇸

That is so frustrating. I guess that is one of the advantages of having everything shipped to us at once.

Happy new year guys lots love ❤❤ from Scotland
Happy new year to you as well.
You should have been doing a few on each side as you moved across. The weight of the roof rafters only being on one side can shift the ridge beam
I didn’t think of that but it makes sense. I guess we got lucky.

👌👌👌🥰
Great job. How do you prevent twisting in the rafters? Here in UK we usually add braces between raters.
There is blocking at the top and bottom. But nothing in the middle according to our plans. The underside is finished with shiplap which will tie everything together.
When was this taped? It still looks like summer.

Love your house. Who is the manufacture?
Conestoga log cabins.
I love your ever vigilant four footed furry site foreman
She is the best. And at 12yo is still as energetic as she was as a puppy.
Looks awsome, r u putting stiffness in between rafters
There will be blocking at the top and bottom of the rafters. Nothing in the middle according to our plans.
@@OneFootOfftheGrid shldnt they b scattered so the middle doesn't snap or warp
@@steffaniepickering596 I’m trusting our engineer and following the plans. They are smarter than me when knowing anything about load forces.
@@OneFootOfftheGrid very true, Happy 2022 and hope u have many great blessings 🙏
You can patch your hat with JBWeld. It fixed mine...
When you are putting your rafters up do not put to Mandy one side or otherwise it will Push the Ridge out of line
That’s good advice. I didn’t even think of that.
