My favorite gender Halloween experience was this past year when I went trick or treating as Peppermint Butler. I was wearing a suit (duh) plus the wig and peppermint makeup, and there were some parents handing out candy with their little kids who would say, "Okay, give him a candy!" and my trans male heart just exploded with happiness
i saw the thumbnail and was like "omg janus???" and i just- I LOVE HIS OUTFIT- this is such a great video I also love how in the October frame, Logan is just looking at everyone like *"peasants."*
I love it so much 😭. Janus's pride outfit and later his hand about to grab remus, Logans emotionless little pumpkin, the dynamic of all the poses. Great commentary too, I often come back to speedpaints because they're just so nice to listen to and watch. Makes sense that Virgil is in front twice, since he's subdued enough in color and personality that it doesn't overpower other characters that are more in the background.
The October drawing is sending my brain whirring about to possibly make an au based on your Halloween designs for the boys lol Like maybe Virgil’s a scarecrow brought to life Oz-style (possibly by Janus, but who knows), Roman and Remus are middle-aged, but Roman’s a vampire so he looks younger than Remus, and Remus is a pirate who sometimes visits to hide from authorities, Janus is a psychic that deals with ghosts (Oh my god okay Virgil lived with Janus, Virgil died somehow, and Janus tried to bring him to life by connecting his soul to a scarecrow yesyes it’s all coming together *Kronk face of satisfaction),* Logan is a wizard/alchemist (maybe helped Janus?? Who knows?), and Patton is either a normal human who’s the dad friend, or he’s a werewolf dad friend and likes dressing in wolf clothing for the fun of it. {Edit: Noticed the shadowy figure of the mysterious orange side in the window after making the comment, so I’d like to add that Mr. Orange is prolly a ghost in the house. Super aloof, and intentions are rarely ever known. Are they malicious? Bored? Good-natured? A demon? Who knows? Janus can’t talk to them all that well, but they seem to be drawn to Logan and Patton somewhat, but mostly to Logan. They usually communicate by throwing around oranges and leaving everyone to guess what they mean depending on context.} Y’all I am so tempted to write out a fic. Alex, look at what your artistic skills have done (not that I’m complaining tho, your art is very neat, and these two pieces look absolutely amazing)

Aye! I was looking at Janis and thought "Oh wow, he looks like a cute patch work version of Medusa" and then I heard the small mention of Soul Eater and was really happy. That's such a fitting costume for him, so incredibly perfect. Really goes well with his character concept and scales he always has near him. 10/10 loved these pieces

i find it so hilarious that, due to composition not demanding it, error 404 left remus leg not found in the pride one. I always love seeing that in digital composition because it emphasizes something thats already hilarious in physical artwork

I never noticed the Janus hand in the October page coming for Remus, but I love that little touch so much. Especially since Jay looks so calm but you can tell by the hand he's about to whoop some ass XD Honestly though, all these pieces are amazing and I love the details! I am a simple human: I see colours, I'm happy - I see kitten, I like. Btw I'm working on a very detailed digital drawing at the moment and you inspired me to change the outlines again. I really struggle to find a way to draw hair (and leaves) because I like more detailed styles but also simpler/blockier styles (like you use). The first looks too much fast and the second looks empty fast, but you make it look so good, I still wanna try that for my style. I thank you for inspiring me once again!

Gosh! This was a blast to watch start to finish! Definitely one of my favourite speedpaints out there- there was just so much joy in it and hearing you ramble about the character designs got me all excited about them, too! The compositions and outfit designs for these already super expressive characters completely sold the deal and were so in-character for every single one of them, while still working together and that second piece is just- a masterpiece, so much to unpack and so many little inside gags and beautiful characterization! ^^

i think he mentioned using darker pencil (old default csp brush) for sketching but he definitely uses the real g-pen for inking cuz i recognise it

I really struggle to find a way to draw hair (and leaves) because I like more detailed styles but also simpler/blockier styles (like you use). The first looks too much fast and the second looks empty fast, but you make it look so good, I still wanna try that for my style.

Gosh! This was a blast to watch start to finish! Definitely one of my favourite speedpaints out there- there was just so much joy in it and hearing you ramble about the character designs got me all excited about them, too! The compositions and outfit designs for these already super expressive characters completely sold the deal and were so in-character for every single one of them, while still working together and that second piece is just- a masterpiece, so much to unpack and so many little inside gags and beautiful characterization! ^^

I love hearing your thought processes when designing their outfits too, that’s gotta be one of my favorite parts about drawing in general.
