  • In this workshop we will dispose of advances, lunges, step-lunges, ballestras and other bullshit like that and focus on one of the simplest things we can do - walking. We will take a stroll through Fabris’ peculiar way of fencing, introduced in the second part of his book (you know, the one everyone kinda ignores?). Expect to sneak around like a ninja, dance more than a diestro, embrace your inner penguin and use the superpower of taking a casual stroll to hit your opponent. By the end of it all fencing for you will be no more than a walk in the park.

In historical fencing or HEMA (for Historical European Martial Arts) we reconstruct sword fighting systems from historical sources. Our club focuses on Italian medieval and renaissance sources, fencing with the Spadone (Two-Handed Sword), Spear, Sidesword (One-Handed Sword) together with Shield, Cape, Dagger, you name it!

I was genuinely sad I missed this workshop. Really hyped for this video, glad I can watch Vicky talking about my favorite concept while drinking coffee at home ;)

Absolutely love how you stress the need for small steps, Vicky. And I chuckled when you mentioned squats and deadlifts while on the subject. My class was looking at me with disbelief the other day when I mentioned including gym and strength exercises into their routine.

I love that since this is in public, there are just people in the background.
The girl and the unruly sweatshirt.
The couple who look like maybe they're on a date.

The two pairs that stopped to take photos.
      The Wedding Photoshoot.
      Elderly Bike Couple.

Yeah, this place can get quite crowded. This was my forth time there and on every single day at some point a wedding photoshoot happened, because this place is just too beautiful. Also lots of elderly tourists and at some point some 18th century reenactors, quite fitting to the palace in the background
