Flashback! I sooo remember how easy clutch cables were to adjust and remove on my bikes as a kid! Been a Harley man for many, many years now and we both know a clutch cable removal on most of them are a pain in the a$$! Another great video! Be safe bro!
Ahhh I saw this video 2 months too late. I have a 86 vt500 and this would have worked or given me a general idea. I appreciate your videos as this is my first bike and helping a lot of my own maintenance.
Happy to help. Remove all the play from the cable at the handlebars, lineup the cable with the slot on your adjuster and pull it out and your cable will be free. them with a screwdriver, remove the hardware and the handle is free. Any questions just ask. Thank you for watching all your support 300 guy. Ride safe and have a great day.
You are right the shadow stopped at the 1100 size and then VTX took over. I just put shadow because the clutch install was the same for a shadow as it is a VTX, Thank you for watching Jared.
Hey Buddy...i have a 2004 VTX1300S...i am having issues getting the bike into gear.......i start it in neutral and when i go to put it into gear it jumps as though the clutch isnt working...would what you did fix the issue...i have played with the adjustments at the lever and motor but to no avail. Should i lubricate the cable or puit a new one in...cheers
Happy to help. It sounds like your clutch is not fully disengaged, I would adjust your clutch. How many miles? do you have any adjustment left at the motor. Let us know how this works out. Thank you for watching and your sub Darryl. Ride safe and have a great day.
I have replaced my cable on my VT750 aero but I cannot remember the routing now new cable burnt from pipe and binding, when my next new cable comes in, where would you recommend I begin the installation? At motor then route it? Then at the bar? Its proving to me the importance of proper routing, but cant find anything on my year make model for routing the cable! Help! 06 shadow aero 750.
Happy to help. This will be the same as your Aero 750. Start with the handlebars routed down on the left side and then to the lever on the top of the crank case. Place all the play into the cable to make it as long as possible. Then hook it into the lever on the motor pull back and install. Then adjust. Thank you for watching and your sub CC. Take a close look at the video. Let us know how it works out. Ride safe and have a great day. If your cable got burnt by your exhaust. It sounds like the cable you ordered is too long for your application. Make sure you have the right length cable. Look it up on bikebandit.com. Thank you for watching.

How do you know where to position the cable down by the motor? Is it by feel or the arm angle? I can’t seem to find the sweet spot for my shadow 750. Thanks!
As long as you have an 8th inch of free play at the clutch handle that is it. Thank you for watching and your sub Brian. Ride Safe and have a great day.
@@TwoWheelRocco Thanks for the reply. After watching the video again, I noticed how you found the adjustment at the crank case. Looks like you were gently pulling until the tension wouldn’t let you pull without using excessive force. (Does that sound about right?)
