Ryan, your ongoing conversation in this form opens a lot to the how the who and what is involved or how it effects so much in life, not just Thailand, not just travel or business, family, change and growth. You’re “doing you” in such a way that seeing you can inspire so many to remember, learn or choose to be more mindful as so much more is going on right now than we each can possibly process let alone what the reality of what intakes to be traveling and how much is navigated as one travels or makes a new life somewhere new. While its seems to be so much more that the Thai’s are encountering they also can see the waves of how people arrive and what goes on in other places or where people have come from and how it all. Changes t he world were living in. After all there is a lot that’s new, different and even truly threatening the lives of those who are traveling and encountering all that is new as well. As you’d know travel does many things and offers incredible experience that changes us all…. I’d add that we can all be more appreciative of who we encounter when traveling for they are working to make things available for those exploring and are part of what positive engagements can be experienced. Thanks for talking about it from your perspective and that of what you are talking with while on these trips and that of being just at home and how that continues for you and your family…… You’re a gem Ryan! Thank you
So refreshing, thank you. I am in the states and have watched foreigners come here and change due to western influence/rudeness. People that began quiet, polite/kind and then like a mental virus catch the mind set and everything becomes me, me, me. Sad to hear of anyone acting rudely in Thailand as I sense the reverence and kindness of the culture through your content. Simply isn’t any need to contaminate this sacred place.🙏🏻
When I was there a a year ago an English bloke was walking down the Main Street shirtless and shoeless, and he was swigging from a bottle of beer. It was 10 in the morning too. I just feel this is ugly and disrespectful to Thais.
They behave terribly in southern Europe as well. Lots of places the brits aren't welcome. Alot are binge drinkers and often cause issues. Seen this too many times to count. The younger generation is also very entitled and rude when abroad. I think many places should reintroduce visa requirements for brits. Its just to easy for their worst to travel abroad.
😂 I was the guy who took the food. You’re spot on with how things are handled here. What’s great is if you leave anything anywhere then return in a few days then it’s almost always going to be there. love Pai ❤
What a gentleman you are letting him take your food. It’s true a argument is not allowed in Thailand. Also the Thais and most asian are a proud honourable race and making a simple mistake can upset them. You defused that situation with style my man ! 👍
without your family i'm nothing... hell yes! that is profound. said by many people in many places. in situations easy, and hard. family is where it starts and ends. there is nothing in between, especially in a place as beautiful as Thailand, there is nothing as lonely as a perfect place where the ones you wish were there are not, bless you brother, your work makes my life better!
Its funny how Thais remember people. I have been coming 20 years now, live in UK married to a Thai. Years ago I learnt to kitesurfing in HH, I used to have a massage on the beach after the lesson and about two years later went back… as I was walking I hear this excited voice calling ‘Mr long hair come back’, yes the massage lady. I always buy food from same vendors and I always buy my dragon fruit from one lady, she always remember me but after 3 years away because of the ….demic I said to my wife she wont remember me… well as soon as she saw me she smiles and holds up three fingers because i always buy three, she excitedly talks to my wife then gave a 20 baht discount because she not see me long time! I always talk to and smile with Thais when the opportunity arises because they are such genuine people, from security men, food sellers, massage ladies or anyone that smiles and wants to chat. So different as you know from the west.
So true! Nothing so touching as being remembered after a few years likes it been only a couple weeks. In the Suan Plu neighborhood of Bangkok, a couple livelihood vendors greet me like I live just down the soi. I feel as if I'm not merely a regular US visitor, but a welcome friend. ❤️Warm and genuine. ❤❤❤Khon Thai!🙏🏻
@@jakespeed6515 I learnt in March 2005, my second trip to Thailand and Hua Hin and it was with KBA. Airush C kites that were difficult to relaunch. Was amazing time tbh. Cabrinha then bought out the switchblade which was a game changer for learning really as it was easier in many respects
I live in Costa Rica, 4 years now.. I applaud you for telling folks to drop their bullshit and entitlement when in other spaces. We do not go to others places to live the same way... It's a journey to embracing other cultures, their way of doing and living and yes... you can still share your customs and be yourself but you have to drop the expectation that you are going to change the way people live and are to match what you grew up learning and knowing. Life can be an amazing adventure so if you are going to visit and live somewhere else... embrace the new and different and remember to to take breath!
Very sad 😢 the way Pai has turned out. Having lived in Pai for 10 yrs from 2005, I noticed so many changes in those 10 yrs, none for the better. Unfortunately all beautiful places get found & then over populated. I havent been back since i sold my property in about 2018. All I can say is I am very thankful that I experienced Pai in the good 'ol days , when the electricity went out all time, the music scene was amazing, no 711,s & life was slow & wonderful. I love your channel Ryan, keep on keeping it real. ❤
Tbf there were a couple of 7/11s in Pai in 2005, but I know what you mean. I used to own Pai River Hill (round the corner from Bamboo Bar) between 2005 and 2008 (when it burned down). Was an amazing experience but yeah, whenever I go back now, it's such a disappointing experience. Way too much development.
@@drpk6514 Israelis have been coming to Pai for over 20 years tbf. I remember the Blue House guesthouse literally had a sign on the front door saying "due to problems in the past, we no longer allow Israelis to stay here - sorry." This was in 2005.
@@Milo-UK I would do the same if I be in that business. People who think they are better than others and being rude and arrogant are not pleasant to deal with. Poor Palestinians ...
Very interesting video, Ryan! The issue is that people no longer strive to blend in. They’ve lost the mindset of inclusive travel and, regardless of what they call themselves, they remain tourists. One of the phrases I’ve included in my RUclips channel’s description is, "Don’t be a tourist, be a traveler!" Being a traveler is about more than just seeing the famous sights, like Pai - it's about diving into the local culture, it's about tasting new dishes, connecting with locals, and discovering hidden gems that don’t always make it into the guidebooks or websites. One of the highlights of my recent road trip in Thailand was having dinner at a small night market in the heart of Buriram. I was the only farang there, and while the locals were a bit surprised, they were incredibly welcoming. And the food? Absolutely amazing. It’s moments like these that I travel for!
When I was in the Marines and took a vacation from Japan to Thailand in 1974, I was truly blown away with how innocent and genuinely friendly the thai people were. The country was impeccably clean and it felt surreal how beautiful the country was, and especially its people. I will never forget my time there back when Thailand was still the age of innocence.
Love the video Ryan! Pie seems so cool & very peaceful! People who exude negative vibes are just unhappy people…..it’s a good thing they’re not part of your everyday life 😉 Thanks so much for taking us along :)
Whenever I encounter negative energy, I simply smile and say, "I hope the rest of your day is as pleasant as you are"!! The looks I get are amazing, LOL!!
Passive/aggressive is not a solution but adding to the problem. your joy in hurting someone shows more about you than them. "as you do one thing so you do all things"
It's beautiful to see your love for the family and the realization it all changed, I have it too man, it changed and its amazing ! thanks for the nice video's
Oh no pai has changed. The Israel’s can be extremely rude. I saw three Israel men shouting a Muslim woman shopkeeper down in pai because she didn’t show them enough respect when they was in her shop.
I lived in Thailand for 16+ consecutive yrs..... 2004-2021 I lived far away from westeners in rural Thailand. Rural Thais are WONDERFUL! The few times I met up with friends in Pattaya over the years... I noticed Thais there were becoming much less graciuos and actually rude and defensive. We ALL blamed it on obnoxious westeners. Now back it the states ...the entire society here is CRUEL 'n TOXIC. ...and they think they er wonderful yet they've never experienced anything different then their own TOXICITY. I long for the graciousness and kindness of rural Thais and most Asians. You and your wonderful family ...stay safe and stay away from westeners if possible.
The morphing of cultures into the western way is spot on. Im currently travelling south-east asia again for the first time since covid. Ive noticed it a lot and agree 100% keep your sh!t at home
I previously lived in Pai and owned a shop on the main street for over 5 years. the biggest thing that has changed in Pai is the bar scene and the boom boom boom from music all night. I have stayed in Baan Suan many times know the owners pretty well. The owners have told us that the bars out on the street have driven almost all her customers away (including me). People that used to stay at her place for a week now only stay for one night and move on. The bars outside your bungalows draw all the after hours business and even though the locals complain, the police just come, accept bribes and leave the bars alone. It's sad because the locals in Pai are really great people and very easy to deal with. Our old Thai friends with small businesses are being pushed out by the noise and smoke. It's sad but I still know so many people up there We still have a good time.
Bangkok ( and maybe foreign) investors see profit and come in a buy out the local businesses. Easier to make profit selling booze in a nightclub to tourists that investing in anything else. I worked in Bali in the 90s as an English teacher and there it was non-Balinese money coming in and buying up all the rice padi. Of course some of the locals profited very well from the process.
Great video Ryan!!!! That view was beautiful it looked relaxing also. Ryan you show me how Thailand is and that's why I love watching your videos. Because I can see how it is and makes me feel like I am there. What you said last about those othere people you are so right. Ryan 2 thumbs up my friend!!!!
I like the way you speak your mind and are prepared to look vulnerable at times regardless of viewer reaction. Generally it's common sense anyway. Keep doing it.
I loved this one Ryan so just subscribed! Not long home in Aus from a fantastic holiday in Chiang Mai and Pai. Absolutely in love with the place and can’t wait to go back. Couldn’t agree more with your comment “Don’t bring your Western bullshit over here”! Thai people are so beautiful….Western cultures have so much to learn from them! Also love how much you missed your family. ❤
Hi Ryan, thanks for sharing your travels with us! Sorry to hear about the western attitudes, whenever I travel I try to be as congenial as possible and it's always worked out. Here's hoping your days are filled with more smiles than not, as well as your family. Cheers!
Love it. Absolutely spot on. We are not 17th century conquerors, taking over the country. We are choosing to visit another country, another, should embrace the environment that we visit and not impose or impress our own culture and values on others.
Agree with you 100% Funny story, once i bought a bottle of the finest Thai whisky for maybe 600 bht. Had a couple of drinks and went away for 2-3 years. Came back and ordered a beer. The mama in the bar said i should finish my bottle first. I did not remember the bottle, but my name on the bottle, with my handwriting. I felt welcome :) 80% genuine smile you said? That young girl smiled all the time, didnt look fake at all.
I loved your conversation at the end of this video about dealing with Thai people. I'm a retired American living in Thailand and I have to say when I first got here during the first two weeks I did not treat thais well. I was under a lot of pressure to find a place to live and get my driver's license and open a bank account but that is no excuse for me being very short with people that were just trying to be nice to me. I remember a couple of times where I was very short with Thai women and they were visibly upset. I had no right to do that at all because I'm just a guest in their country. They do the absolute best that they can and take something going wrong very seriously. I went out of my way to find all of the people that I treated like that and did my best to make things right. If a traveler in Thailand sees that they are upsetting Thai people they should either figure out how to fix themselves or pack their bags, leave and never come back.
Drove from Mai sai to Pai and half way there i soon cottoned on to half of your thoughts mentioned in this video and turned around and left at least a week earlier than i had planned. This was back in Feb and burning season was just kicking off too.. Might go back but some how i doubt it not for the interaction i had with any kon thai, quite the opposite, first time in my life I felt i didnt want to be grouped together with other farang😢 shame. Great vid compounded by feelings of the value of of home and what that actually means.. My best to you.. 🎉🎉
Your final remarks about western people got me concerned...I can imagine well what you are feeling. Always good to see your journey through life. You are a good man.
Hi Ryan great vlog as always. I’ve been to Pai twice in a 5 year time span and I too have noticed the differences of attitude from westerners then compared to now, they bring their arrogance and aggression with them, they think that they are better than the local people and it’s not only Pai where this is happening it’s anywhere that you find tourists !! You’re correct in saying that they need to leave this attitude back from whence they came !! Keep up with the great vlogs. Regards Steve.
All the family really enjoying the Pai series, the missus keeps rolling her eyes at your pronunciation of 'Bhai' with a softening of the 'P' 😂 You're a good orator and edit well. Best wishes to you and your beautiful family ❤
You're not old, just enlighten about life and that's good. I can see that you've embraced Thai values in your way of living. Ignore those western behaviors and don't them bother you. Enjoy your peaceful life and family.
Pai looks cool.. my heart sank when i saw the drum circle at the end of your last vid. Anyone with dreads just makes me think of the too smooth to move trust fund tool in the Inbetweeners go to oz movie.. India is full of them, but obviously most can be cool. Its just the odd one that sticks in your memory. Loving this series of vids ❤
I’m escaping the western bullshit very soon, retiring near Khao Yai. If I had any doubts of moving they were quashed today. A very similar situation with 17 year olds . Young people in Australia have no respect for their elders anymore .
Your outlook on things are very organic.. showing your emotions and feelings to the world very warm feeling. Im getting old myself and what you say makes alot of sence to me at the moment.. great content and outlook .... dee dee
Hey Ryan, great video my friend. I even enjoyed one of the advertising about wood working. I haven't been to the Northwestern part of Thailand yet but want to do some travels in that area. I'm thinking about getting a new Tuk-Tuk and fix it up so I can sleep in the back of it. I think I have to get a different licenses for driving a Tuk-Tuk though. This was for me one of your best video's. Thank you for doing it.
Those great, honest words of life. It makes me a bit sad, but I understand what you're talking about. I have been looking at all your videos I missed because my internet not working where I live.
Remember that feeling. I've traveled a lot in my life for business and the minutes with our those I loved are the minutes and memories I miss. I'm together with my loved ones to be together ❤. Good on you!
As a britt, living in Australia for 52 years, my family live by the gift of respect, care and humility, bad manners not accepted in any circumstance, lived in thailand for a number of years so sad to see things are not the same.Even at my ripe old age of 84 you inspire me, and say what has to be said, no fear .stay safe, you are blessed with a wonderful family, kindest regards from sydney.
Great episode again Guru Ryan. Thank you. Obnoxiousness, rudeness, ego, privilege. The western young-uns with money have no sense of history, hard work, or humanity sometimes. My take is a false sense of superiority with their first world upbringing and money. I would simply refuse service, though Thais would likely never do that. Personally, think you should return as soon as you can, yet the train booking baht will be lost it seems. The reason, the rain is finally showing up, so you must have seen on the cell phone the approaching Typhoon causing torrential rains in Vietnam and then Thailand. Stay safe and dry as you can brother. Peace, Love, and Happiness Y'all
Aww that is so sweet Ryan. Yes, you are now a true family man and the family pull is very strong. You are quite right, family is everything and absence certainly makes the heart grow fonder. You are very fortunate to have found your place in this world and have a beautiful family. 💕💕
Tell it like it is ! Nice tour and walk around. I’m getting old too and am not ‘feeling’ the college crowd anymore. I’ll visit the Twin Huts soon for some sunset action :) oh and the Israel girls were a nice addition to the video hahaha :)
Unfortunately a large percentage of the rude tourists in Pai are of the same 1 or 2 nationalites that don't share the same values as Thai people, they do not smile at strangers on the street or share pleasantries like the story on the motorbike outside Lemon Thyme. Every time they buy something they approach it like its a fight, dont say thank you and some times refuse to pay if something is wrong with the order. It causes a bad vibe among Thais and other tourists alike. Besides speaking Thai like this gentleman, which makes a huge difference in the way locals react to you, the best way to separate yourself from those tourists is smile, be friendly and be very polite, all important Thai values and you will be sure to have a wonderful experience with these lovely, kind people.
lovely informative video Thank you . I was in Pai about 12 yrs ago which was lovely and took some ab stunning rides up into the mountains and the nights in town were fine too . Everywhere changes over time , its just the way it is . I was part of the Goa hippy beach scene for over 20 yrs which was ab wonderful , but things change and you have to move with them and be grateful for everything along the way and lifelong friends you meet . Nice to hear that so many Dutch people are travelling . I ve lived and worked in the Netherlands and loved it and the dutch people and every year they are entitled to the 13th month , which is by law another months salary for all employees to enjoy how they want, so they all go on holiday naturally . . Like me in the buillding trade , every hour worked over the 38 hr week was classed as Holiday money and untaxed , so if you worked 40 hrs per week you got and extra 8 rs untaxed salary per month so an extra days pay , so13 more days holidays per year . The system in the UK treated us like unworthy exploited skivvies comparitavely .
Great vlog and really appreciate your honesty which is why I watch you in the first place. Makes me sad to see through your eyes what is happening to Pai. Even though you miss your family and they miss you I think it is for the best that you did it alone as I get the feeling that Damo would probably hate to see Pai as it is now.
Enjoing your frank, honest and real-life talks. Also liked how you ended, "don't be bringing your shit over here...", to the non-smiling and at times, in my opinion aggressive foreigners...
I was first their 18 years ago went back 3 years ago and was shocked how much it had changed 😳, it still has something inviting but it is well hidden now and not a dot on years gone by 😢
Well said 👏 Westerners judging others while their own civilisation implodes makes my blood boil (too). Leave only your footprints, and take only happy memories.
hi ryan, you stayed at the same place as me and my thai girlfriend, great place,,,near the river if I remember correctly,,,we loved PAI visit there two times from Chiang Mai..........remember the thousand road "bends",,,lollol enjoy your stay,,,,,,,also watch your vlogg every day virtually...
I'm older travelled to Asia for 30years I've worked out the game I hang out by myself and enjoy my holidays I don't mix with other tourists or expats if someone wants to talk to me I will be friendly and have a short talk chat for 5 to 10 minutes than move on I don't get involved in other people's dramas and just enjoy my holidays I don't travel to get into fights and end up at a police station or hospital I'm only a geust so I respect the people and the country you learn these things with age 😊
At 6:07, arriving at the sunset place. The sign says “no outside food” in 3 languages; English, Thai and another language script. That’s so interesting. What could that language be?
I was in Pai in 2000 and haven't been back since. Seems like a good move haha. Its same everywhere. Just have to go outside the area of standard tourists to find a good spot. Anyway I have good memories from those days...
Excellent report. My first time to Psi was 25 years ago and have been there many times since then, often laying over while driving to Mae Hong Son or Baan Rak Thai. It used to be favorite place for Thai’s to holiday to. Not so much anymore. I really don’t enjoy it there now. SurroundiNature is lovely, but the town itself is not reflective of Thailand. Unless you’re a backpacking college type looking for others of the same sort, it’s not a good destination. I do like Two Huts though. Food is good and plentiful and not expensive and atmosphere is great. Food in town center tends to be just the opposite.
I live in Thailand Ryan and the Western BS has been going on for years. You made me laugh and I agree with your point. I just walk away from that negative energy ASAP and smile 😊
It seems many in the comments think Pai being full of hippies is the problem which is now how Ryan described it. It’s actually these so called hippies who stay long term here, partner with, and have excellent relationships with the Thais living here, working with the hill tribes etc. The problem is the mainstream young tourists who spend most of their evenings on walking street, stay in hostels where they do nothing but drink, walk around topless (men) and in bikini (women) in town, go on “tipsy tubing” on the river (arranged by Thais but condemned by the authorities?) etc. The so called hippie community are involved in many projects with Thai people, many don’t drink and they play music, do art, sit in singing circles together and do yoga (just to mention a few activities). Also Ryan, you aren’t old for Pai. I’m a 46 year old women who came here the first time 15 years ago, when I was in my early 30s and august live being here now too. There are plenty of things to do away from the mainstream booze tourism. 🙏🏼😊 There are many families who come to live in Pai which is beautiful.
Those hippies aren't building excellent relationships, they have built a getto with the circus and the wednesday market area, they drive their bikes as their life depended on it, move around shirtless and shoeless most of the time, They are not true hippies and they are annoying. They are just one of the problems Pai is facing.
My wife and I drove up to Pai during the height of the pandemic and it was great, not an arrogant tourist in sight. No loud music, could just enjoy the sounds of nature. Beautiful place, and a real shame it’s been ruined 😢
I was there last year. What a disgusting place to be honest. Even my Thai girlfriend did not feel comfortable at all being there and walking on night market shopping street.
I agree about your observations concerning Farangs visiting our home. More so in the last Two years, and I think we know why!!. Olso.. patience is a virtue Ryan and you have been spoilt living the quiet life in Buri Ram with your beautiful Family. So Sabai Sabai for your next few days and enjoy the rest of you Trip😂( and avoid Farang Hostels😊)
You are honest and observant . The backpacking theme gets redundant . Take the cues that tell you your'e in Thailand and the "Westerners" put on the same "show" , all over the globe. Mostly harmless but it's hardly inclusive to the society they're in or visiting. Been there done that.
Great videos. Thanks for your continued efforts to provide the appropriate balance on RUclips content regarding Thailand. My thai wife and I live in South hua hin. I won't attempt to spell the district name as I don't have my readers. Anyway, I actively avoid most farang and tourist areas. I lived in cities with "That" mess, and I am not interested anymore. As for rude Westerners, what a surprise. Thankfully, thai citizens are mostly patient.
I learned a long time ago that u order what you want to eat first. This seem to follow the list. One time I paid for 10 Thai and my order came after everyone else had eaten.
I was told once when renting a bike, the reason for no gas in the tanks was because the police told him and that if someone crashed into his rental business it could quite possibly cause many explosions thus destroying inventory and perhaps lives as well so they should have minimal gas on site...he gave us a card to take to the petrol station down the road where we could first fill for free...made sense...
8:00 don't teach your audience to learn the classifiers 😂😂 that's exactly why many people give up on learning Thai. just use same classifier for everything never had a misunderstanding
Ryan, I just discovered your video channel, and I am watching them. I have been in Chiang Khan for almost 3 years now. I retired and left the great state of Texas to visit my best friend who had been here for 5 years now. He and I have ridden motorcycles together since 1988, and he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer 2 years ago. So, I decided to stay. Fell in love with Thailand and had to relearn a completely different attitude. When I was first here, I was driving my partner's truck, and this guy pulled out and almost clipped her vehicle. Of course, I reacted with some yelling and a few cuss words. When I was done, everyone in the truck was looking at me and my partner softly said, "we don't do that here. Jai Yen Yen." 🤣🤣 So now, I am the one offended by the rude behavior of farang in the area. I have become part of our neighborhood and accepted by the locals. I respect the culture, follow the law, and try to be a good citizen. That is all they expect from you. Take care.
Most of my subscribers know about what I have discussed in the vlog, but otherwise I hope it is useful for those that don't have much experience with Thais when complaining and bringing western mentalities over to Thailand

When I was there a a year ago an English bloke was walking down the Main Street shirtless and shoeless, and he was swigging from a bottle of beer. It was 10 in the morning too. I just feel this is ugly and disrespectful to Thais.
That's more something for Kuta in Bali- another place that is overdeveloped and pretty much ruined, apart from the north.
Tired of the states and all the bs. Entitlement and egos at all time high!
THIS ENGLISHMAN IS IN 100`S OF STORIES JUST REPEATED BULLSHIT
Wonderful video Ryan. So heartfelt. So raw, honest. Thank you for sharing this.
😂 I was the guy who took the food. You’re spot on with how things are handled here.
What’s great is if you leave anything anywhere then return in a few days then it’s almost always going to be there. love Pai ❤
Hey good to see you in the comments!
I was hoping you would be cool with me using your image to teach some of these lessons in Thailand 😁
No sweat, a local here in Pai spotted me on it and reached out 😂
Thanks for being cool
I’ll buy you a coffee next time I’m up 👍😁
What a gentleman you are letting him take your food.
Was that kitesurfing with Kitesurfing Asia?
@@jakespeed6515 I learnt in March 2005, my second trip to Thailand and Hua Hin and it was with KBA. Airush C kites that were difficult to relaunch. Was amazing time tbh. Cabrinha then bought out the switchblade which was a game changer for learning really as it was easier in many respects
Good on you Ryan for saying leave your western BS at home 😉
I found the same problem in Pattaya, couldn't wait to get back to my Thai village.
I used to go there in the early 2000's - its sort of went down hill quite quickly with so much trashy development.
Israelis started pouring and all of the sudden the town got into trouble
@@drpk6514 Israelis have been coming to Pai for over 20 years tbf. I remember the Blue House guesthouse literally had a sign on the front door saying "due to problems in the past, we no longer allow Israelis to stay here - sorry."
This was in 2005.
@@Milo-UK I would do the same if I be in that business.
People who think they are better than others and being rude and arrogant are not pleasant to deal with. Poor Palestinians ...
What makes these Vlogs better then the rest is your language skills and great attitude. Stay with the road trip series.
Very interesting video, Ryan!
The issue is that people no longer strive to blend in. They’ve lost the mindset of inclusive travel and, regardless of what they call themselves, they remain tourists.
One of the phrases I’ve included in my RUclips channel’s description is, "Don’t be a tourist, be a traveler!"
Being a traveler is about more than just seeing the famous sights, like Pai - it's about diving into the local culture, it's about tasting new dishes, connecting with locals, and discovering hidden gems that don’t always make it into the guidebooks or websites.
One of the highlights of my recent road trip in Thailand was having dinner at a small night market in the heart of Buriram. I was the only farang there, and while the locals were a bit surprised, they were incredibly welcoming. And the food? Absolutely amazing. It’s moments like these that I travel for!
Quite right my friend 🙏
Ryan, excellent down to earth and real video. You are speaking the truth.
Stay Safe, and Stay Blessed !
Cheers Douglas 🙏
Wow your Thai is great! ❤ It's so refreshing to see a westerner that takes the time to study Thai, it's so rare!
I think this is the real strength of what a man is. Someone who is strong but also soft and loving. Thank you for showing this version of us.
Yeah, a lot of places were pretty good 50 years ago.
Passive aggressive. The problem is you.
Passive/aggressive is not a solution but adding to the problem. your joy in hurting someone shows more about you than them. "as you do one thing so you do all things"
@@kendr1320 LOL!!!!!!!
Israelis and Dutch are probably some of the rudest people there is (I lived in NL for 18 years)
This confirmed my lack of interest going to Pai
Access to social media and world views/attitudes has also changed many Thai people for the worse imo
I think it’s beautiful that you’re being grateful for your family and life. Looks like you have a good one.
Hey Ryan. Your videos always make me smile !!
Keep smiling !!!
Cheers from Quebec
All the family really enjoying the Pai series, the missus keeps rolling her eyes at your pronunciation of 'Bhai' with a softening of the 'P' 😂
You're a good orator and edit well. Best wishes to you and your beautiful family ❤
Great vid Ryan, love seeing these trips around rural Thailand...❤
Too many people now running round Asia trying to `out hippy` each other while secretly missing their privileged life at home with bank of mam and dad.
Informative as usual. Thanks man!
absolutely. everyone makes mistakes so be pleasant and patient. it goes a long way.
I’m escaping the western bullshit very soon, retiring near Khao Yai. If I had any doubts of moving they were quashed today. A very similar situation with 17 year olds . Young people in Australia have no respect for their elders anymore .
You nailed it obnoxious western culture is best left at home ❤
Wholesome. Enjoy your stay, mate.
Great video. Love the honesty. 100% spot on the mark.
Your outlook on things are very organic.. showing your emotions and feelings to the world very warm feeling. Im getting old myself and what you say makes alot of sence to me at the moment.. great content and outlook .... dee dee
lol I've seen a ton of tubers visiting two huts... probably packed, but I've been made aware that it is freaking beautiful!
I think you will get more subscribers for your honesty Not losing some.. all the best to you and the family.
Depressing? Hell no, you’re sharing how you feel about being away from your family - so refreshing, well done young man 👏
thank you
I've used that
moped shop many times, they are great. ive stopped past and said another day and they just laugh and say see you tomorrow
Peace, Love, and Happiness Y'all
thanks my friend!
I am enjoying the Pai series
The lady that served you food at two Huts is the owner her name is Dao.
Aww that is so sweet Ryan. Yes, you are now a true family man and the family pull is very strong. You are quite right, family is everything and absence certainly makes the heart grow fonder. You are very fortunate to have found your place in this world and have a beautiful family. 💕💕
Thank you Susan 🙏
Great video. Really enjoy your work!
Love you videos Ryan. Cheers from Oz mate.
Cheers Jack 👍
Nice to see your trip. Not depressing at all when you travel alone. Perspective
Even 10 years ago Pai was Khoa San Road, relocated Just Ferangs, eating pizza, getting drunk and watching American movies
Tell it like it is ! Nice tour and walk around. I’m getting old too and am not ‘feeling’ the college crowd anymore. I’ll visit the Twin Huts soon for some sunset action :) oh and the Israel girls were a nice addition to the video hahaha :)
They are rude
Great video Ryan and as always you tell it like it is😅
Cheers David 👍
Loving your Pai adventures. Keep going!
Pai, ruined by foreigners 😂
Big love brother, brilliant video as always. Rock on.
Cheers Carlos 🙏
Enjoing your frank, honest and real-life talks. Also liked how you ended, "don't be bringing your shit over here...", to the non-smiling and at times, in my opinion aggressive foreigners...

I was first their 18 years ago went back 3 years ago and was shocked how much it had changed 😳, it still has something inviting but it is well hidden now and not a dot on years gone by 😢
Well said 👏

Leave only your footprints, and take only happy memories.
I will drive the 700 plus curves road to Pai last week of october. Hope it will sunny...rainy season will be over.
❤ what a cool place real chill
Well said…when you are in a foreign country, keep your attitude in line with how they are, and not how you are. The world doesn’t revolve around you…

Great advice.
At 6:07, arriving at the sunset place. The sign says “no outside food” in 3 languages; English, Thai and another language script.
That’s so interesting. What could that language be?
Hebrew my friend.
I was in Pai in 2000 and haven't been back since. Seems like a good move haha. Its same everywhere. Just have to go outside the area of standard tourists to find a good spot. Anyway I have good memories from those days...
Lovely place, lovely video ;)
I agree
I usually come up here to meet my old hippie friends, many have left
I am somewhat of a hippie myself which seems to have been lost on some 😁🙏
Those hippies aren't building excellent relationships, they have built a getto with the circus and the wednesday market area, they drive their bikes as their life depended on it, move around shirtless and shoeless most of the time, They are not true hippies and they are annoying. They are just one of the problems Pai is facing.
There would be a big difference between the older hippy crowd and the new younger (I would say fake) hippies @@Wedgebiggs

Been there done that.
cheers mike
Cool man , I like ur style ❤
Totally agree on everything you said at the end there.
One time I paid for 10 Thai and my order came after everyone else had eaten.
yeah...something about hoping on a rented bike when on holiday just makes it more fun...lol
Love love this guy 🎉
Take care.
Sounds about right for Thailand Rob. Welcome to the channel 🙏
