It's fascinating to hear about the historical methods employed in areas like the fens to address soil concerns and erosion. The innovation of repurposing Sherman tank turrets and utilizing powerful engines like the 450-500hp Crawfords machinery with dual Detroit Diesels is truly remarkable. It's a testament to the creativity and resourcefulness of farmers and the ever-evolving landscape of agricultural machinery. Thanks for sharing this intriguing piece of agricultural history!
It's clear that you have a deep appreciation for these tractors! The attachment to one's roots and the love for farming machinery is truly special. While sacrificing your car and van might be a bit extreme, it's a testament to your passion for these machines. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos, and they provide a window into the world of tractors that you might not have experienced in your village growing up. Keep watching and enjoying!
They used to do this on the fens I think with traction engines pulling the plough with cables to mix the peat & clay to prevent erosion ,then after the Second World War farmers took the turrets off Sherman tanks & pulled the steam ploughs with approx 450 -500hp Crawfords machinery dealers used to demonstrate one at ploughing matches which had 2 Detroit Diesels in it awesome probably cost a lot less!
this kind of tractor would be a mamoth to the philippines would be monstraus one and a hell of a machine to behold,i would like to have one this someday
It would probably be unable to go as deep and then still lift high enough for turning and on top the tractor probably just sits there spinning its wheels. They get better grip this way.
They already exist. But then you need an even bigger and heavier more expensive tractor doing the pulling, since you dont transfer weight from the plow onto the tractor
Hi, I am a noob when it comes to agriculture but can someone please explain to me what's the reason for plowing that deep? Thanks ☺️. Great machine, by the way, wish I could afford one 😁.

Tremendo tractor y impresionante el power que tiene ,pero agricolamente está mal lo que están haciendo porque están poniendo la parte fértil de la tierra a un 1 metro para abajo
Almost all tractors majority of the weight is as low as possible on the chassis, these tractors can work up to inclines of 60 to 70 degrees, this is barely like 30 - 40
For this situation you can see on the front a massive lowered weight about 1.5 - 2 tones and extra weight on the both back wheels. This is what's keeping this machine stable with a low gravity point.

This is filmed in Holland. They have very specific soil, it contains a lot of clay and sand. Soil is very wet too. Lot of rain leads to forming of layers of sand and clay and soil becomes infertile very fast. In order to mix soil, they have to plow extremely deep every few years, they do not plow this way every year.
Tractors don't fall over that quickly. Specially here when the lower wheels are stuck. If it was on a hill though, when it can slide and catch grip again, that's where it gets tricky.
Sehe ich auch so... Ein grosser Teil der 14 Tonnen dieses Fendts lasten dann aufgrund der Schräglage auf den Rädern, welche in der Furche fahren. Somit wird der Boden einfach tiefer unten verdichtet - super...

Mate, I would sacrifice my car and van to get one like this. I was born in village but there weren't this kind of tractors. Cool video.

They need to make an "on land" version of that plow so that tractor doesn't have to run down in that furrow.
It would probably be unable to go as deep and then still lift high enough for turning and on top the tractor probably just sits there spinning its wheels. They get better grip this way.

the tractor tilts as if it is about to topple over. So in these cases, does the tractor not overturn?

why do they deep plow, and how often do they do it.
Rarely done, too bury saline soil. It is reclaimed seafloor. Salts work their way up over time. If they do it every 10 years that is already a lot.

Why plough so deep ? What is the advantage of ploughing so deep ?
Perhaps it's doing for fruit trees
They do it to get the lighter soil on top. It's better for growing flowers and onions etc.
