So I ask myself… “ what is my motivation, as one who is outside of the law, knowing that my righteousness is in Christ and without His great sacrificial feat of salvation I would be doomed in the judgment, do I try in my own strength or by my own desire, to not sin against God? I believe the gospel thoroughly and have faith in its promise. And know that there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, which sets me free from the law of sin and death, so I am accepted in the beloved, faults and all. The question is then why is it that I desire to not sin against God? And feel so bad when I do? What is the acceptable reason from God for me to desire to walk in his ways? There’s only one answer… I should want to obey Him… Because I love Him! Not because I’m afraid of His Judgment! That’s been taken care of. My desire to obey Him should be because I love Him. Because of who He is and what He’s done for me! Love completes the cycle. Not out of law which leads to death because I failed the law long time ago and I’ve never been able to fulfill any part of it. Not for fear of wrath. Only Love. Which is the byproduct of sincere faith. God just wants us to trust in His salvation. That He is able to get the job done. That we should enter into His rest. And then rest because we trust. Thirty plus years in The Lord and I’m just beginning to understand. When God delivered His own out of Egypt, after all of His mighty acts, 11 days of faith would have gotten them to the promised land. Their sin was lack of faith. With all He’d done they didn’t believe He was able to deliver them. 11 days of keeping their mouths closed and trusting. Lack of faith cost them 40 years and God still watched over them. But it was the same as continuing to watch over an adulterous wife. They did not love Him back. Love for God is what completes the cycle. But it must be because we trust Him. It must be by faith! Thank you Lord!
Praying! You can do all things THRU Him who strengthens you. But key words “thru Him”. Please keep your eyes on Jesus! Always. I have to keep preaching that to myself every day.
