Just found your channel in my search to be better with procreate, first off thank you for your pointers! Clear and understandable are what make the difference when it comes to learning, your vid’s are great and I’m looking forward to backtracking through your stuff to learn what I can. Thanks for all your doing and hope your well in this crazy time we live in.
Outstanding video! Learned a lot and I think this is one of your best videos yet. The progression in your videos and how you add new things is really cool
Hey Drew! Just found your channel--so awesome! I am trying to get better at Procreate. What brush did you use to draw those characters (that are soooooo cute by the way!)?
Hey! Haha retro characters are a blast to make. I used the studio pen for these. It’s my go to. I tweaked the taper setting a bit but the basic procreate one is just as good! Happy creating 🤙
Where do I learn to draw like that, though? I keep looking for tutorials and classes that actually teach the skill of drawing in this specific style, and no one seems to explain that part. I'm willing to put the work in and practice, but those making the tutorials seem to think that just watching them do it will do the trick. But when a person not yet skilled actually sits down to draw, they quickly find it's not that easy.
I learned by finding examples that I liked then start by tracing them. Then once I understand the shapes and structure, I started to experiment on my own. I recommend finding something physical that you can look at and try turning it into a cartoon. Like a coffee cup or something simple. Part of why I love this style is because it isnt serious. that takes pressure off while making it and puts the focus on having fun and making myself laugh at the results. Hope this helped and thank you for watching!
Glad you liked it. And yeah gotta be honest, I’ve been sleeping at the wheel with my channel. Thanks for the comment and encouragement to get back to it.
Hi Drew! I love your style, and would love to reach out about a job to create branding/logo for a small business. Let me know if you have a website or email I can use to contact you. Thanks!
