I received the Softube Passive-Active Pack more than eight years ago when it came bundled (along with a number of other plugins) with the purchase of a Focusrite Clarett interface. At the time, the Passive-Active Pack also included the first generation Softube FET Compressor with a similar retro-Hi-Fi GUI.
I agree the controls were not that intuitive and I really did not start using any of them until a couple years later after I purchased a Console 1. Then, with the controls mapped on to the familiar Console 1 configuration, I began regularly using both the Focusing EQ and the FET Compressor.
A couple of years ago, Softube introduced a newer (and better) FET Compressor Mk II in the Icons: The Compressor Collection, and the original dynamics processor was pulled from the Passive Active Pack.
It’s a shame because that compressor along with the three EQ’s would make for a worthy $49 purchase (the current sale price) but, as you said, this is not a good value.

I still use that FET Compressor sometimes, it's pretty good

Wow… good call. Current bundle is exactly €35.

A blast from the past! Good to get your perspective on this ... I do like the big knob on the right, but I think it'd be nothing without the slightly larger knob on the left. What a lovely couple!

Thanks guys. I think it was me who asked about this, and I have very similar thoughts about it. I did buy it (at a greatly reduced flash sale price!) and I'm really only using the Focusing EQ. Passive can sound pretty sweet on acoustic guitar though.

I have not used that EQ much but Softube makes great shit... The Overstayer, Tape, and Harmonics are fire. and a bunch of good compressors... Use console 1 on every mix.. keep the vids rolling.

You guys should do a plugin review at the pub. Or just shoot the $hit. I bet loads of people would get a kick out of that. I have the now discontinued FET comp, that also looks like my uncle’s hifi; only reason I keep it.

GUI , a knobs are briliant👍 However this price is a lot to much... Maybe 40 € could be ok. Especially since a market is so wide

It's usually on sale for about 19 euro, it's def worth that but I would never pay full price with that said. Could you plz take a look at the MD4 from TC Electronics and/or the Weiss DS1-MK3. Cheers

Jack Stratton uses the focusing eq a lot. Or he used to. Or still does.
