- Teaching Our Kids to Enjoy Giving. Vlogmas 2022, Day 28. It's almost Christmas and we wanted to spend some extra time with our sweet toddler, Luke, as he learns about giving and kindness towards the world around him. Chris takes Luke to the store to pick out gifts for his family and helps him wrap the presents. Then we all open advent calendars together. All of our videos are closed captioned and always family friendly.

Luke’s gift choices were really good. I needed his help for some of my people. It was a struggle to choose. He is so cute wrapping. I will have to try singing when I wrap presents next time.

Luke was born into the perfect family for him! He can only excel with such wonderful parents and siblings to guide and love him. Plus his extended family. I absolutely love seeing how all of your children and both parents work cohesively and caringly towards each other. It’s a beautiful sight to see. 💖💖💖
Christopher. I have worked with so many families with children with special needs. You are just amazing! You give Luke such respect while still being a dad and giving him guidance. I think he will be ok. I think you and Jessica are the parents we teachers always wished our little ones had. Happy holidays to you and your sweet, sweet family.
I’m not sure what you meant, so maybe I’m reacting out of hand, but the statement “I think he will be ok” really bothers me. I’m the parent of an autistic child, and I wholeheartedly believe a child will be ok whether they live a miter independent life or need caregivers and support their entire life. It sounds like you’re saying he’ll be ok because he’ll be close to typically functioning. That’s a really ableist view. If that’s not what you’re saying, then I’m sorry if I misunderstood, but this comment really bothers me.

@@laura11383 No. That is not what I meant. I truly apologize if I gave the impression that I seemed to say that being "close to typically functioning" would mean he's ok. I don't know a better way to say that I think Luke is awesome. I think his amazing parents are a huge part of this. Of course, he is an amazing human because he is just...amazing.

I'm so proud of Luke! He did such a good job picking out gifts for his siblings and deciding between multiple gifts for each which one he wanted to give them! So sweet! Such a smart idea to take him shopping so close to Christmas so he connects the act of picking out the gifts, wrapping, and then seeing everyone open their gifts just a couple days later! I love seeing Luke grow into such a wonderful boy. He really loved wrapping those gifts. Singing as he went was adorable. He has blossomed so much since last year. His language and dexterity skills are amazing. Great parenting, Jessica and Christopher. I can’t wait to see Luke’s face as he gives the presents to his family. ❤

this advent i've enjoyed whenever anything was dropped there was the sound of glass shattering. LOL...Love Luke...he's talking so well....Duncan really is doing a great job on all those crafts! Bailey's dangling mushroom earrings are so cute! Parker's cursive is very well done! Poor Teddy and his lip. Jacob is growing so tall so quickly. Loved the learning process here! It wasn't long and he was folding the corners of the presents just like he saw you do! He did awesome and seemed to stay focused which is quite impressive!! I wonder if folding the tape in a circle and sticking it on the back of the pic would be easier? Like putting on a sticker? Just a thought, but by the time next year comes I'm sure Lukey will be a pro!!
Not surprising that Luke learned the gist quite quickly coming of parents that are so articulate.
The way you use pictures on the presants is so smart. We have twins age 3 visiting for xmas so i used pictures of them on their presents. They Loved it

Me and my husband don’t have children of our own yet, but I love watching your Vlogs because I hope to be the kind of parents that you two are. All of your kids are such a perfect example of what patient loving and caring parents do for a child. Specifically Bailey at her age still being such a sweet young girl. Most girls her age, including myself at that age are already heavily into boys and thinking that they are grown up. I actually had already gotten pregnant and had a miscarriage at her age. I would do anything to go back and be a child still for those teen years. Y’all are a seriously great family.

Parker is a kid after my own heart. Rat's are my favorite animals as well. I've had 3 pet rats and I'm working toward getting new rats. Hopefully soon. Merry Christmas Ballinger family!
We had a black and white rat named "Precious," when my boys were young. She used to ride around on my shoulder.

all the time one of your kids does something and my brain comments, "they're my favorite!" it happens over and over every episode. Brains are just weird and don't always make sense. In each episode each is my favorite at least three or four times. Wait! Wait! I get it! They're ALL my favorites!!!
I know in person helping luke had to have been frustrating. To me it was adorable how his face lit up when he was wrapping the presents. Bless you for having the patience of a saint. Thank you for being an amazing family for Luke.

one thing that my family does for the holidays is we buy a shorter tree and put the tree on a short (2ft or less) square (and cheap) coffee table. we put festive tablecloths on the table to protect the table from scratches and that way we have more room for presents under the tree so we can put presents on top, next to, and UNDER the table AND we save money on a tree by buying a shorter tree. holiday hack for families that have limited walking space for presents under the tree
