Manoeuvring of shells on gunplatform, Austrått Fort

  • Austrått Fortress. Placed on gunplatform, there were two sixpacks with shells, six in each. Those sixpacks were in addition to the below storages. They could be used in emergency if problems with the elevators. During combat there were about 25 soldiers on the platform, so everyone should know were to put their fingers.

      @@age49 Ha! Thanks for the reply. The postage to San Francisco would be enormous. Maybe I'll come visit Austratt Fort one day.

    I can see that the maneuvering of the massive shells (only 280 mm!!) has been modified by the Germans with the rails snd I surmise that also the hoists to pull up the shells and the powder bags and it's cartridges has been modified as well! Nevertheless it is very interesting! I like it very much!

      Everything you can see working on this video are originally from the German Battleship Gneisenau. Austrått fortress was build around the C-tower from the boat after picked apart and sent to Norway. Now the guntower rests on Lundahaugen in Ørland as a museum. Come and make a visite.

      Gunnar Lian I will come because I am very often in Lund, Sweden helping my girlfriend with the big farm! My dream is to come up and visit this museum in the summer! Thanks for the advice...
