Important to mention with sand, be sure it DOES NOT contain CALCIUM! And if looking to add hay, eg layering with paper bedding, look for ORCHARD GRASS HAY…as it is “softer”.
great video , i live in the uk and use fitch bedding . this is a uk made paper bedding this is just in white and unscented . carefresh can be purchased here but is quite expensive and the colours available are few .i have even noticed in some pet stores some scented wood shavings and even sawdust [ ugh ! ] available to buy .
Hey! Great video!🥰 In the UK, there is a good paper bedding called Fitch which is unscented and safe! I use Chipsi classic which is a wood bedding made of mostly spruce, and a small percentage of pine (because the amount of pine is so low, it's safe to use!). It's great at holding burrows and super soft! It's also super cheap (20kg for £22). About the idea of using coco soil for the whole enclosure- definitely not recommended as it would to difficult to keep the soil at the right level of moisture to hold burrows, and really not worth the risk of having a burrow collapse on them. Have a good birthday!!🎁🎉
Oh I totally forgot about spruce! We don’t have that here so I’ve never actually used it. I have only seen like 2 people properly do the whole cage soil ( erinsanimals I think their name is Ollie now but) they did a good at doing it! Since they’re just awesome at hamsters care in general! Also thank you
You can't used Spruce wood because it isn't safe for them to chew on or sleep with even. Spruce is softwood as pine and cedar woods which you could known. PLEASE research carefully on the computer!😢 There are massive amount of information with bad woods on internet and only Aspen is made safely for any rodents!
I’m currently trying to find a non-dusty bedding alternative but it’s so hard to find the perfect one. If you have any recommendations please let me know? Great video btw 😊🤍
Aspen usually isn’t to dusty! But most paper bedding unfortunately is. I always use full cheeks ( use to be all living things ) and it really isn’t to bad with dust :) !
My advice will be Small Pet Select paper bedding and PetsPick Uber Soft paper bedding on the top of any hemp bedding on the bottom to be softer digging or falling off from hammocks. It should felt as cotton when any rodents walked through the cage.

I will never understand why petstores sell unsafe items. Like why can’t they just have right care. It really wouldn’t be that hard.

Hi! I've seen people use fabric as a reusable option, is this safe? (options are cotton, wool and rayon, and fleece only if cut in big chunks)
