I had not seen this one, and it was really great to see the colours you can get on such an overcast day. It makes me look so much closer and deeper into everything to see the actual colours. You see see the shapes, but colours can be so subtle. This was one mammoth painting but you tackled it no problem. Brilliant, thanks, Bill

I'm glad they were subtle. I have seen en plein air artists ruin their paintings by sticking sunlight in once the sun came out, when there had been none at all from the beginning.
They didn't address that, literally, *every other thing* in their painting was still left unaffected by the radiant light that should have naturally illuminated them, as well.
The light they placed felt quite out of place in the scene.

  • @jessmatthewson7775

Super entertaining Richard... truly marvelous. The close-up recap really allowed us to see just how marvelous that 'warm sunshine' adds interest and what I call air traffic control... guiding your audience throughout the scene... way to there are 🤓😉

Many thanks for sharing. That was a blast to watch and incredible result! I find myself on the other side of the spectrum i.e. painting (too?) detailed. This looks like a ton of fun. I love how you capture the image and the feeling of the scene beautifully whilst having these little gems of colour if you look close up. Awesome.
Got to ask though: how do you get a massive painting like that back to your house/ studio? You can't just drop that tarp down and drive home, can you? I would think you'd have the tarp smudging the painting horribly...
