The take on coaching here is key! You have to work with what you’ve got. It’s the same issue we had with Getsy, he didn’t work well with what he had. It seems like we’re seeing that same thing here. Simplify it, coach the line (team) up, and get going.
The knock on Waldron from people who covered the Seahawks was that his red zone offenses stinks and he's allergic to consistently running the ball. The past is still prologue. The only question now is can Waldron change his stripes and that pretty much never happens.
Read his sad resume, the names of players at his clinic is a who’s who of…who? Barely NFL experience, not one decent QB from his training, not a single coordinator job with Amy school or pro league team at all. He is just pretender who tries to make football sounds like rocket science and yet couldn’t do it himself in the NFL and worse has t coached anyone to success of note….he is just one of us
Yeah there is a reason he isn’t coaching and that nobody is asking him to. His list of students at his academy are almost all names you have never heard of and no longer play
You’d think at some point, the bears would’ve lucked their way into hiring a good oc or head coach at this friggin point in an over 100 year old franchise. What a damn joke. They seem to have a good qb now, but they have doofis’ working with him. Cool beard though
You would have thought the same thing with the Cubs winning the WS but as we know it... There were ppl alive when the Titanic sank who lived to 100 years old and didn't see the Cubs win a WS 😅😂
I’m still trying to understand why the Bears hired Shane Waldron in the first place. He’s never coached a top 10 offense so why would you want him for your franchise? There were much more successful offensive minds available for the Bears to hire.
Listen to Swift podcast dealing with the hiring of Shane W as our OC. I found it interesting and think we did not have other many options when looking for an available OC who had actually called plays. Most great play callers are head coaches. Those who are good play callers and were not head coaches were not available to the Bears who had decided to keep Eberflus as the head coach.
@@jaybird9063 - Kliff Kingbury was available. But I understand your point. It’s just another reason why the Bears made an enormous error in keeping Eberflus. They should have hired an offensive head coach to pair with Caleb for his career. Now, just like Fields, they are going to have to switch schemes after his rookie year and force him to learn his third system in three years. Offensive head coaches are always better because they ensure your offense stays consistent. If you have a defensive head coach and a good offensive coordinator, he will leave to be a head coach and your offense has to reset.
The narrative at the time was that Waldron had turned Gino Smiths career around. Who was available as far as offensive minded head coaches? It's easy to fire your head coach, the question is who are you going to replace them with...
the one positive thing is that waldron's scheme is similar to what the rest of the league is running. the majority of offenses today are based on shanahan/mcvay outside zone schemes. they'll still have to learn new terminology but the concepts will all be similar.
There are no weapons. Keenan hurt, DJ not fighting for 50/50 balls, Swift is running sideways, Kmet is average, Caleb & Odunze are rookies. Stop saying we're stacked😂

He is making sense. All this is on the coaching period. Caleb is going to make a mistake. we know this, but with the talent we have, we shouldn't be seeing this.
'You weren't doing anything without an offensive line, I don't care who you have back there' - John Madden "You're only as good as your Center" - Brian Baldinger "Offensive linemen, we look at as weapons, That group, when we talk about attacking on offense, the offensive line is the tip of the spear." - Jim Harbaugh
And Madden had one helluva o line too. All pro, Packers power sweeping to the left, play after play and nobody could stop it. We could have had Harbaugh. So frustrating.
What I don't understand is why in the beginning of the game did Eberflus go for the field goal? Santos has been a great kicker, but that first attempt wasn't really in his range. Why not punt and pin the Colts down and use your defense to apply pressure! I wonder if a defensive coach trying to make offensive calls is out of his comfort zone or maybe he has too much on his plate. Screwups on the field goal attempt, the two point conversion, the timeouts, not running the ball, the red zone screwup.
7:52 what he just said is EXACTLY my frustration. We haven't played consecutive games of competent football since Flus has been here. CW, JF, or JD doesn't matter that MF'er has 11 wins to his name in 3 years.
The smart thing was: Keep Rypien. Let him play the first three weeks. Work on the O line. Work on the play-calling. THEN, maybe, bring your up-and-coming rookie in. Poles mishandled this completely. Rypien is now in Minnesota. We have, basically, 3 rookie QBs now. Which one do we throw out there to get crushed and manhandled?
the most stressful thing about being a bears fan is dealing with the media that covers the bears. all this pessimism & over reacting after 3 f*cking games is draining. like seriously, stfu and save it until at least 3/4 of the szn is played
a lot of fans are guilty too. there's a group of people that want to trade caleb already in week 3 and start bagent lol. at least this isn't that unhinged.
I think that everyone takes turns screwing up on this offense - whether it's Caleb with a bad or ill advised throw, Odunze running the wrong route or dropping a TD, basically EVERYONE not blocking well, etc. However, I would say that I'm still MOST concerned about the play caller. He's WAY too attached to running out of shotgun, which doesn't really work well if your O Line is struggling. He throws way too many screens which, again, is not great if your team is struggling to block. Only occasionally do we see the slants and quick outs and all the stuff that Caleb does pretty well. Dude needs to get out of his own head and start calling plays that match the personnel. I mean, we knew something was up when we were seeing plays for Everett and Carter out of the gate, instead of plays for Kmet and - oh, I don't know, your TOP THREE WRs?!? I mean, how we don't have more for DJ is just criminal. Dude is a murderer when he gets the ball in space. Get him the ball! And when Roschon is the hot hand, RIDE HIM! Don't stubbornly go back to Swift. Run under center and let the O Line do what it does best. It's not rocket science, it just requires some egos to be checked.
I don’t understand how everyone can see the problem with play calling and yet the OC can’t. Not sure what thought process is being made. This is not all a Caleb problem. Daniel’s or even Fields would struggle. If things don’t change quick, we need a coaching overhaul
Nobody in ownership cares about the fans, as long as tickets and keep selling. Its not malice they just don't care about the football. Can anyone tell me why Ed mccaskey got a memorial patch but Gale didnt?
How about the run play before the speed option on 4th down? Asking the smallest receiver on your roster to block a DE? Who could have guessed he'd get blown up and the DE would stop the play.
Our line has regressed that's coaching and scheme. We were a top 10 rushing team. The m istake Poles made is trusting eberflus to take command of the team. The fact that he didn't step in on the 4th and goal call says he is too timid as a head coach.
Why isn’t Tim an OC here in Chicago?? He sounds more capable than our experienced staff, and why can’t we get Olin Kruetz in the building immediately!!
A few run plays had Prior come out and not block the LB, blocked noone and that LB ended up bringing down Swift. All would have been 10 yards minimum..
Here's a fun stat. For what it's worth there have been 2 coaches with a worse record then Eberflus: John Fox 14-34 and Abe Gibron (early 1970s) 11-30-1, if the Bears lose next week he'll pass John Fox for next to last, 3 more losses after that and he'd be in first place as worst record in 50 years. So in a history of pointless coaches in the past 50 years Eberflus is in top 3 worst.
Abe Gibron: Bears HC during the Bobby Douglass QB era and portrayed himself as an assistant in tbe movie Brian's Song, starring James Caan. I did not realize their HC records were so bad during our lifetimes.
His analysis is pretty much spot on. The one thing he said that is not supported by the film was “airmailing it by 10 yards is not Caleb Williams”. Caleb has at least 2 ridiculous overthrows of receivers that have created separation in each of the 3 regular season games. So far it is Caleb.
Sure looked like they were expecting everyone on the o line to make a reach block on that 4th down play. As the d line slanted away toward the runners they couldnt get to their guys and lunged ending up on the ground. Maybe Tevin Jenkins was right about the blocking scheme.
Waldron wasn't good in Seattle. I didn't understand why the Bears hired him. When he arrived, the fans and "experts" were acting as if Waldron was an all world OC. I assumed people in Chicago weren't watching the Seahawks. As a 49ers fan, I hated to see Waldron leave the division.
Nope. It's Justin's fault. This is the best staff, the best roster, the best situation ANY rookie qb could hope to fall into. Smh. DJ Moore is on the bench lioking like he is awake in a surreal nightmare. WhenbJustin ran it was because he was slow at processing and held the ball too much. He has 1100 rushing yards by himself. THIS year, after all the accolades, the o-line is bad. Ok. I thought the goal post were too heavy to move that quick, but I guess I was wrong. It's MANAGEMENT - not the players - in Chicago. Ask Malik Willis about bad organizations and horrible talent evaluations. The Titans are gnashing their teeth right now.
He’s thinking of the Kill Kill being to drum up a great play. It’s the opposite for us. We’re killing the play because we got a bad look for the play we called and now we’re just going to a basic run play that should get 4yds.
The 85 Bears had the Best Running Back of all time! Mr. Sweetness #34 Walter Payton the Running backs they have now are weak as hell and can’t run more than 5 yards!!
Interesting take that a coach should call the play that works for the situation but also can be executed with the roster on the field.. don’t ask people to do things they can’t do and expect to not be held accountable.
It's time to panic. Eberflus and Waldron have already sent themselves to go down the Chicago River into an abyss. They're in over their heads and frankly the offensive line is such cluster buck, they're going to get rocked by the Rams. Frankly, we're going to get swept by the Packers AGAIN, because if the O-Line is struggling against to block 5 vs 4, as we saw last year, that team to the north dominated in the trenches. So until this offensive line suddenly breeds a nasty attitude adjustment, this season could be another oversell, overreach con job by Poles, Warren, and McCaskeys.
52 passes is too much for a rookie washington did this last year with sam howell with no OL and nearly got him killed they need more run schemes or cakeb will fail
Echoing what has already been said! Tim was spot on and added some great insight on how to build up around Caleb's strengths. Also love that he doesn't pin this on CB. CB is not an air mailer and the pieces around him are making him desperate.
YESSSSSSSSS, Tim Jenkins!!! He just absolutely nailed it! Bears fans ARE frustrated. We could've been satisfied with "half way respectable football." But the Bears Management Team can't even give us that. Just watching Jayden Daniels last night. Why is it so difficult to provide that type of offense? Before anyone goes off the rails. I never wanted the Bears to draft JD. Nor do I think he's a better QB than Caleb. But every single clown this Team brings in to be OC. Turns out to be an absolute fraud! That can't seem to get his head out of his @#$. I mean, these OC's make creating a successful offensive playbook look akin to NASA trying to get through the Van Allen Belts to get to the moon without frying the astronauts & the entire space shuttle. Bottom line: IT IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! This Bears offense may be flawed & have imperfections. But they DO have talent & they have NO RIGHT to look this unprepared & lost.
What running game isn't there? Blasingame is not on the game day roster. Run the ball with him and kmet. Why play Gerald Everett, he doesn't do tight end things well. He does receiver things, and we already have enough of that
This oc is a clown. Caleb is a phenom who will overtake his draft class once he gets settled down. We need a beast at center and left tackle. I'm still not sure why they arbitrarily cut leatherwood last year. They successfully resurrected him, had a long armed, low anchor, running, injury free lineman and just cut em like garbage. Now, they're stuck with a line nobody wants and can't do a damned thing about it. You'd feel sorry for them if they didn't have choices but they had lots of choices and they chose favorites, rather than players. We saw it with Ngoque, when they cut their two defensive end studs, one of which was ALSO a supremely talented, edge bending resurrection project and the other an to and coming pancake machine. We ALSO saw it with the tight end room, where they cut Bateman while keeping the 40 year old dinosaur Mercedes Lewis. Everyone knows you've got to have an offensive line to win in the NFL. Braxton doesn't seem to be improving... Is he taking walks in the beach when he should be in the weight room?
As far as speaking up about what he wants to do and players he wants in the offense, i know hes tryinf to follow and do all the right thjngs as a rookie, but hes a smart dude and knows what he accels at, he should be speaking up about plays and letting then know.
Yeah again Eberflus is clueless, he is lost, isn’t quick witted or thinking which is reflected in crunch time scenarios and baffling decisions. Defensive coaches are a dime a dozen and the players make the coach on defense. Hence why so many defensive HC fail like Fangio miserably did and it’s not bc he is a bad coach, it’s bc he is a BAD HC who is 60yrs old and never once at any level was a HC that mattered
whats frustrating is that waldron doesnt use his players correctly. Kmet: great against zones, bad against man DJ: great at dig routes, comebacks, screens, jerk routes. not good at outs or slants Rome: looks like he is great at everything Swift: nice 3rd down back Oline: they are power oline, not a shotgun running oline All we have to do is run normal plays. Run inside the tackle against light boxes. if they play single high burn em with DJ or Rome. if they run 2 high just power em with rojo. Use play action. go max protect and run 3 man routes with DJ, Rome & Swift on half field. they can win. Why are we in shotgun running Swift, velus and throwing screens to Everett? why are we throwing 40-50 times a game? I hope waldron learns. it appears to be obvious.
it's frustrating how this was supposed to be the best situation lol. i thought caleb could be a game manager while we could run the ball and lean on defense. the thing is, it's still possible to turn it around. a good oc can make a bad o-lines look average and maybe waldron just needs more time. obviously that's not likely, but we have plenty of time to find out.
why isn't kahlil Herbert touching the ball? he's been averaging 4.5 yards a carry two years straight now he can't even get in the game. cheap ass bears don't want to pay him and they didn't want to pay 3-0 justin feilds who completeness 73% of his passes. this always happens to the smartest person in the room. thank you to the clown show that is espn and 670 the score for ruing the bears we were on our way could've had two studs and 2-4 years of first round draft picks instead of a guy that couldn't even win 10 games in a season in college. instead you ran a guy out of town who beat the great white hope to play for a national championship. the dysfunctional chicago bears.
Considering the fact that he doesn't have a running game, he doesn't have adequate pass protection, and an OC they can't get his head out of his ass; Caleb is doing about as well as he possibly can. If he can start being more consistent on his deep balls, I'd have ZERO concerns about him at QB. The concern now is about his well-being.
Offensive run scheme is a terrible fit for the Oline we have. The ability for the communication of blocking scheme amongst the offense in general appears poor. Caleb looks good, and wrs are open. However, they are not on the same page. More muscle memory is needed. Offensively without being in their coaching meetings it is disjointed. No other way. Defensively we have plenty of talent. However, the lack of disguising and head games and free play we allow our defense I think is criminal. We have a lot of talent on D. Lots of of athleticism and smarts. Let them dogs eat.
I wanted the Bears to draft an Olineman with the 9th or better yet trade down and pick two Olinemen. Odunze was a luxury pick for a team just coming off of figurative food stamps. Odunze is a great pick for the future, but it's useless if Williams is crippled first playing behind a turnstile offense live.
he makes these coaches seem laughable..we all see it.. we all know flus is interrupting the process during games.. flus needs to pay much sooner than later this time. He’s proving himself an incapable HC.. decide what we do at DC and move on from him. Poles is popping seasons like peanuts.
I’m sure Shane is a decent offensive mind when the pressure isn’t on. He wouldn’t have gotten this job if he wasn’t. But man he seems suspect under pressure. Say what you want about Getsy but he was always calm and collected. And why not hire off Kingsbury, especially when he has already coached Caleb?? It seems like they thought they had a strength that was their zone run game, hired a guy to fit that strength, and then it turned out that wasn’t a strength of ours. Now we have an OC who doesn’t fit our strengths putting Caleb into a system that doesn’t fit his.
prior to washington kingsbury hadn't proven that he could run a good offense. he wasted years of kyler's young career. it seems that he's evolved but that's hindsight.
Ever since Lovie smith was forced out with a 10-6 record this team has been in disarray offensively having numerous head coach and quarterback changes over the years!! Just as The Cubs were under a curse until 2016, this Bears team is under a curse!!
Tim should be hired. He just makes sense .
Why doesn’t he get hired is the real question, new qb coach cmon

This they're almost always stubborn.
This offense has a hole in their bucket.
You just can not throw 52 times with little run plays
Mr. Jenkins needs to be in our building
I was just going to say he should be qb coach
It sounded good. But, putting this to action is a whole other story. We all can talk the talk. I'm only impressed with wins...

NO clue why Waldron didn't involve Kmet sooner...he's their top TE with excellent track record. Goes to show what a tool Waldron is
Waldron wasn't good in Seattle. I didn't understand why the Bears hired him. When he arrived, the fans and "experts" were acting as if Waldron was an all world OC. I assumed people in Chicago weren't watching the Seahawks. As a 49ers fan, I hated to see Waldron leave the division.
Just gonna say those last 2 drives looked so much more successful cause the defense was legit in prevent mode. Wasn't legit coverages
a run game would be nice.... one dimensional in the NFL is not the answer..
My hunch is pretty much the same. Williams is playing like a rookie behind a poor offensive line. He is being coached like he's Aaron Rodgers.
I just want to be excited about watching bears football
Too bad the Bears pissed off Olin by offering him $15 per hour to be an advisor. 😂
Kubiak was available, Poles needs to address his poor coaching hires.
We interviewed Kilnt Kubiak twice and we decided that Waldron was the best choice. Typical Bears bad hire
Tim is a great guest, get him on more often... without Bernstein.
Why can we not get an OC who gets it?
Bernstein
52 passes is too much for a rookie washington did this last year with sam howell with no OL and nearly got him killed they need more run schemes or cakeb will fail
Echoing what has already been said! Tim was spot on and added some great insight on how to build up around Caleb's strengths. Also love that he doesn't pin this on CB. CB is not an air mailer and the pieces around him are making him desperate.
BERNSTEIN!!!
A wise man once said " It could be coaching"
Isn’t it amazing how the host of this channel is telling you who he’s voting for just by his whiny mannerisms
The Bears have a lot of talent. The coaches not so much. Go get quality coaches before it’s too late
Tim makes so much sense in all the things he talked about regarding Caleb and QB play in this video.
Should have never paid Swift, it was pointless and a waste of money that could have went into both lines
Maybe our upper management is allergic to winning!!
What running game isn't there? Blasingame is not on the game day roster. Run the ball with him and kmet. Why play Gerald Everett, he doesn't do tight end things well. He does receiver things, and we already have enough of that
Does Eberlose even have any winning record in his past.. Record with bears 12-28
Hey Tim, wanna be the Bears OC?
Big drop off without Holmes
Why isn't this guy coaching the Bears?
Jenkins is really good!
Jenkins couldn’t block the view of my tv if he tried..
@@Tee-py7teHe's a QB coach and former QB so why would he block?
@@Tee-py7tehe’s referring to Tim Jenkins the interviewee not the lineman
@@Tee-py7te🤦🏾😂🤣 you're slow, aren't you?
As far as speaking up about what he wants to do and players he wants in the offense, i know hes tryinf to follow and do all the right thjngs as a rookie, but hes a smart dude and knows what he accels at, he should be speaking up about plays and letting then know.
I just don't think Waldron can escape his fantasies about his scheme.
Shane Ballschin
Yeah again Eberflus is clueless, he is lost, isn’t quick witted or thinking which is reflected in crunch time scenarios and baffling decisions. Defensive coaches are a dime a dozen and the players make the coach on defense. Hence why so many defensive HC fail like Fangio miserably did and it’s not bc he is a bad coach, it’s bc he is a BAD HC who is 60yrs old and never once at any level was a HC that mattered
whats frustrating is that waldron doesnt use his players correctly.
Kmet: great against zones, bad against man
DJ: great at dig routes, comebacks, screens, jerk routes. not good at outs or slants
Rome: looks like he is great at everything
Swift: nice 3rd down back
Oline: they are power oline, not a shotgun running oline
All we have to do is run normal plays.
Do you think that the run game isn’t married to the pass game correctly
they are divorced or in a trial separation
Jayden Daniel’s had all day to throw
it's frustrating how this was supposed to be the best situation lol. i thought caleb could be a game manager while we could run the ball and lean on defense. the thing is, it's still possible to turn it around. a good oc can make a bad o-lines look average and maybe waldron just needs more time. obviously that's not likely, but we have plenty of time to find out.
Dan says that the Bears are to blame for him being an a$$... lol ...
How does Bernstein still have a job lmao
When Caleb has time he was dropping dimes
Why Chris Morgan still has a job idk
Bernsteinnnnnnnnnnn
why isn't kahlil Herbert touching the ball? he's been averaging 4.5 yards a carry two years straight now he can't even get in the game. cheap ass bears don't want to pay him and they didn't want to pay 3-0 justin feilds who completeness 73% of his passes. this always happens to the smartest person in the room. thank you to the clown show that is espn and 670 the score for ruing the bears we were on our way could've had two studs and 2-4 years of first round draft picks instead of a guy that couldn't even win 10 games in a season in college. instead you ran a guy out of town who beat the great white hope to play for a national championship. the dysfunctional chicago bears.
As long as they keep improving...
I think Taylor Swift would've ran the ball better than D'andre Swift last Sunday.
Can we please make this guy this coach of the bears!
If the Bears win that game nobody is panicking
Jayden Daniels is HIM
Caleb = Bryce 😂
They can’t and won’t be able to run the ball this whole season. This season is going to be brutal.
