Just getting into the wet shave game. I am currently on the leaf twig, but just ordered a Henson AL13 and the Rockwell 6C. Can’t wait to get them in and try them out. Have been watching your videos which got me into trying out the different razors. Another great video! Btw you are my only channel that I’m subscribed to that I have notifications on for! Great videos. Thank you. I just ordered a 6C from Rockwell after seeing this one. As an FYI: At checkout Rockwell wouldn’t allow the stacked discount option you mentioned around 4:00…and when I contacted them after checkout (and referencing this video) they replied as follows: “Please note that only one discount code can be used per order.”
Hi David thanks for another lovely Rockwell video.❤😊👍🏽. I believe I can also say like you that my Rockwell 6C has made me a better shaver. Now I step up and down the levels so seamlessly during a shave just to target spots that still have stubles after a pass, and I always get super smooth shaves with little or no irritations whatsoever. When I watched your Henson razor reviews, I opted to go for a Yaqi Tile razor because it appeared to be a stainless steel version of the Henson, and oh bro, it's a game changer, especially for head shaves! It truly wowed me. Your videos which I have followed for about a year now have been the best tutorials I have enjoyed so much. Still trying to figure out the diff's between T2 alloy and steel. I wrote Rockwell and they replied: Regarding your query, the only difference between Rockwell T2 Alloy and T2 SS is the material they are made with. Your thoughts?
I think the alloy is a little sharper. I personally get better shaves out of the stainless steel. I'll Nick myself a lot with the alloy on setting six. Using the stainless steel on a six I've never cut myself. Is it worth the extra money? I think so just because it's stainless steel and it's gonna last longer. Zinc alloy has a tendency to corrode if not cleaned after use.
David, great video on Rockwell. I have only been traditional wet shaving for about a year and I first used the Gillette King C and the Viking Chieftain. I picked up a few other budget razors to try last Fall, but got the Rockwell 6C and the T2 between Black Friday and Christmas and they have been in my top 3 rotation of daily razors ever since. They and your instructional videos have made me a better shaver. Keep it up!🙂👊🪒

Been wet shaving for a couple of months, starting with a Henson (which was and is great). Purchased a Rockwell 6C, and it is a more rewarding razor in the sense it requires technique. Started with the 3 plate, moved to the 4 plates and shave my legs (racing cyclist) with a 2 plate. Great to be able to swap plates. Gunmetal finish on my 6C is lovely - aesthetics matter. Thanks for the video.
David…I was just like you….but I started out with a vintage Slim. Once I decided to really get back into DE shaving…I bought my first modern razor….a 6C. Like you…it made me a better shaver and allowed to enjoy better efficiencies at higher blade settings. From there….I went to a 6S….then T2….and finally a T2 SS. Needless to say…I have a love affair with Rockwell razors. They all give super comfortable, smooth shaves. I’m guessing the reason for that…is the neutral blade exposure they put on their razors. The other razor that I’ve studied is the Rex Ambassador….which has a positive blade exposure. I haven’t shaved with one….but reviewers have mentioned that they are overly aggressive and will bite if you aren’t careful. I believe them….so I’m not spending $250 to find out. I enjoy reading razor reviews….but to be honest…I love my Rockwells and have no desire to change. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t pick up a Rockwell slant…if they came out with one. Their blades though…not so much. I still prefer the Feather, Wizamet, Nacet, and Astra SP blades with my Proraso creams and T3 brush.
@OhioShaves i think ill get the kit, only 39 more for a bunch of extras.. I just hooe this inkwell stand is stainless, doesnt say it is.... Still worth it, and thanks .

Got the T2 yesterday and it’s a great razor. The one negative I find is the size of the head, it’s big all around but it’s my 3rd Rockwell and I get great shaves. The mechanisms feel nice and smooth but tight without any wiggle room. You mentioned the blades by Rockwell and I find there are definitely better blades out there. I used a Permasharp last night for my first T2 shave and it was great.
I started out with the Henson AL13 + and still love it. Have since gotten 9 other razors, among them the AL13 ++, Rockwell 6c, 1964 Gillette Slim Adjustable, 1974 Gillette Super, Leaf Twig, a Merkur Futur clone.... all are great in their right, but I'd have to say my "desert island" razor would be the 6c. Pretty sure i could load a piece of wet cardboard into that thing and get a great shave.
I have a Rockwell 6S and a Henson AL13. The Henson does a good job. But the Rockwell is my preferred razor. It feels good in the hand, has enough weight to it (vs Henson’s aluminum razor). I have considered getting a dial/adjustable razor like the T2 in order to “adjust on the fly”. But the multiple base plates that came with the 6S are easy and quick to switch out. Frankly, I usually stay with a number 4 base plate anyway. It provides a great shave. Thanks to your channel and others out there which cover wet shaving and DE razors, I was able to make, what I think was an educated and really good choice regarding what razor(s) to initially buy. Honestly, there probably is no reason to spend more money for another razor as the 6S is so versatile and it’s made of stainless steel, so it should last a couple lifetimes.
I started my wet shave journey last December with the same two razors (took advantage of Black Friday deals). My Henson rarely sees the light of day as I prefer the 6S. I will use plate 4 for the first pass, and then just flip it over to the number 2 side for my final passes. Gives me a really great shave every time.
Love my Rockwell. First DE I bought and still the favorite. Only downside for me is I got the 2c. Have been shaving for 2 years on plate 3 with no problems. Wondering if I should get the 5\6 plate and try it. Opinion? Great vid.
I started with a 2C too, and after a few months I ordered the 2/4 and 5/6 plates, automatically converting it to a 6C, and the increased plate options give you more control over your shaves. Rockwell is just it dear. 😊✌🏾
@@OhioShavesThank you! I can not wait to have it in my hands and shave with it!!! Tou my favorite wet shaving RUclips because youre honest and stay humble and sincere and I appreciate that! Thank you
Get the Thayer's coconut and apply it during and after your shaves using a misting spray bottle. The coconut water in it provides a little extra lubricity. Especially nice before reapplying shaving cream between second and third passes.
Hello. I have a question about choosing between the Rockwell 6C razor and the Merkur Solingen 39C razor. I mean the shaving precision and gentleness, I have never used "SLANT" razors. Which is a better choice.
New or experienced shavers will never regret getting a Rockwell safety razor. Smooth and comfortable is all they need to know. Getting the 6S or the T2 SS comes down to preference and cost. Once I found the right 6S plate for my shave, I rarely change plates (other than flipping). So, the T2 SS is not worth twice the price for me. Whenever I'm tempted to buy a new safety razor, I remember I've never found one that was better than my 6S. The only one that came close was the RazoRock Game Changer.
I've been wet shaving using a DE, brush and shaving soap for about 15 years now. I purchased a 6c early this year and shortly after a 6s. Best razors I have used.....and I own a bunch including some vintage gillettes. When I too am tempted to purchase another razor, I think of my 6c/6s and figure I have no need......I already have what I am more than happy/satisfied with. Really great razors.
@@michael.schuette3713 My experience is the same as yours. After I got the 6C, it was such a smooth shaver that I bought the 6S for a good price on Amazon Prime Day. But I have purchased a few DEs after that to see if they were better than my 6C/6S. Finally, I decided there was no need to keep looking because I always went back to the 6S as my daily driver. It is a fantastic razor.
So I have a Leaf Thorn which I like but.. I"m wanting to try either a Rockwell C or a Hensons AL13 any suggestions on your part would be deeply appreciated .. Love the your channel a fellow Ohioan form Akron.. Thank you..

Every razor is a little different. I use the Rockwell three piece on 6 and a leaf for my head. Once I started buying various soaps, I really started to like shaving. Great video.
Used me Rockwell 6C for the first time today; started with the 1, but wasn't enough, so flipped and switched to 3; much better. Face is still a little raw. I used my old can Barbasol shaving cream, thinking of switching to a lather like in the video. Also, what is that bar of ice looking thing you use after you shave? Will it cut down on the rawness?
Excellent once again, David! One of the reasons (among others) that the T2SS is smoother than the regular T2 is because of the blade gap differential at its various settings. For example (per Rockwell): R1 it’s .32 vs. .35…R3 it’s.52 vs. .55…R4 it’s.63 vs .70…and R6 it’s .90 vs. 1.05. I favor my T2SS over every other razor I own (including the Velocity One, ApexSS, TimelessSS and the Rex Konsul)! It’s just that good. It pairs extremely well with pretty much any blade I use and it’s almost impossible to cut yourself. Thanks!
@@OhioShaves …not sure why my reply isn’t posting but the gap numbers are legit. From a leading fellow RUclipsr’s review as furnished to him from Rockwell..
The 2 razors i always recommend are the Rockwell 6c & the Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Double Open Comb. The PAA DOC is a lamb in wolf's clothing. But Rockwell really did their homework and got their razor designs so right. The DOC is one of those lesser known gems and the price is ridiculously fair. I do not personally like the Rockwell blades, but that's my face and beard.
I absolutely love my 6c,.Bought it in June 2022 because of your channel, and I shaved exclusively with her for good 2 years, but lately I've been using the R89.A 3 pass shave doesn't leave me with any nicks or cuts, while with the 6c sometimes it does (this can be due to the fact that I love experimenting with ghe different number plate). Also the blade gap on the R89 is the best for my skin.I gotta say that I haven't shaved my neck against the grain with it, but next time I might try, and if it goes well, it might dethrone the 6c, who knows. But for beginners I'd absolutely can say that 6c is better. You can change the blade gap by switching plates, it's that easy, while the R89 is kinda laid back razor which I love😅
I have two Rockwell 6Cs just so I can blind test different blades, using both razors on the same shave. I think I have a medium course beard. Rockwell blade vs Feather blade, I couldn't tell the difference. I do a three pass shave.
@@OhioShaves I use a plate 3 or plate 2. I've experimented trying to see the lightest plate I can use and still get a good shave. Having two 6Cs was handy for that also. I'd love to see you do some blind tests if you happen to have two of the same razors. It's fun to do the reveal after the shave. And thank you for your channel, you taught me how to shave. Cheers.
I would buy a variety pack off of Amazon. Once skin and hair type is different. Me personally I like persona, comfort coats, Astra, SP, and feather blades.
Not sure if you've tested one, I searched your videos and didn't see it, but if you haven't, and you can get your hands on one, please review the Feather AS-D2.
Love your videos man. I'm switching to saftey razors because of your vidoes. Between Rockwell 6C and Henson al13 (mild), which one would you say is a better beginner razor?

Not a fan of Rockwell razor blades, but the Rockwell 6C was "technically" my first razor coming from cartridges and then the 6S came later (which I love more for the weight of the stainless steel). The 6C is definitely a great starter razor that I recommend to anyone because of its versatility and price point. I'd only recommend the Henson AL13 ++ just as much because of the ease of shaving with that razor.
A lot of people like the plates over turning and trying to get it to the exact shave that you had the last time on T2 by turning a knob that is a micro adjustment..
I really can’t single out one particular Razor. I have several favorites. It all depends on how much growth I have and what I’m trying to accomplish in my shave for that day.
Another great video! Just a few questions though, 1st question is with the t2 stainless steel do you always have the razor set to the highest number or does it depend on the razor blade choice?? 2nd question is do you get better shaves with the Rockwell razors with a few days growth or is it better to shave after say a few days to a weeks growth?? Thanks again Phil 😎
1. Depends upon the razor blade, but I tried to stay away from setting six unless I'm shaving my head with a weeks worth of growth. 2. I can shave every day or up to about 12 days of growth if I get lazy. A lot of times I like my facial hair to grow out so the viewers can see how good these Razors actually shave compared to disposable razors. Great questions thanks for your support Phil
Have you ever tried the thurlady? Found it on Amazon for 20 bucks right now... Highly adjustable, magnetic to help with the loading and a nice looking razor.. Not sure if it's made in USA but for 20$...i figure maybe you could do another budget razor test.
Rockwell makes good razors might suggest the 6C to a new comer that would like to dial in their shave but the T2 is a winner. I never go above a 4 on the T2 and only go for a four when I have been lazy and have multiple days growth.
I think it is sharper because the manufacturer process is not CNC milled with greater precision as the 6S which is made in the USA. The 6C is stamped pressed out of zinc alloy that is made in China. The tolerance is loss compared to stainless steel
@OhioShaves what does sharp mean? I was told that both shave the same because the plates are the same, the 6s and the 6c, but the only thing that changes is the material that influences durability. ¿is it true?.
@@Franshaves no, it's not true. The 6C is stamp pressed with a lower tolerance of precision. The 6S is CNC milled out of stainless steel with for greater precision with the highest tolerances Rockwell offers and it's made in the USA. The 6C is made in China
Mapping out my hair growth made a big difference to my shave. Then reducing the shave to a 2 pass shave has made a big difference. Less to no irritation and a closer shave. I live in Asia and we can’t get 1/2 the stuff shown but I make it work with what’s available. Like my yaqi tile all Stainless steel and managed to pick up a Parker variant in Manila I a recent trip. Blades I can get easy are Astra blue and Gillette London bridge. Pre shave oil I just use coconut oil and it’s amazing. For alum I can get natural alum crystals a block as big as a tennis ball for less than a dollar. Soap there is a local company called white beads that works ok or I just use arko.
Hello my friend. You haven't done a video shave with the Razorock 37c yet. Are you going to? I just want you to do a video with the most comfortable most smoothest razor. Let me know if you are going to do it. Thanx
For the money...The 6C is literally a steal. It's the best Razor considering the performance and the price point. It competes with the highest priced razors and does better than many, so the price is unmatched.
Ohio shaves if I must suggest a review… could you review the “supply razors?” You’re my go to for reviews and I can’t find any you’ve done! That would be awesome if you could!
I changed my first razor to a rockwell 6C and it's so much better but I do not like the blades though, they drag too much, I'll stick to my feather for that.
I have an emotional attachment to my GSA because, like me, it’s a 1965 model 😂 But the T2 is definitely a better, smoother razor. That said, I find the 6C is better than either!

Fantastic review. Thanks for sharing with us very informative.

Hello there! Thanks for your support, brother
After watching a couple of your videos I found a 6C on Poshmark, brand new, for $40. Picked it up and I agree, great razor
Glad to hear it!
Great video as always! 👍
Thanks brother
hi @OhioShaves, I was wondering if you could check and tell me if the T2 has Positive or Negative Razor Exposure because i can't Decide if i should go with the Rockwell T2 or one of the Yaqi Ultima Stainless Steel (they're on similar prices btw)

Thanks for your support
I started out with the Henson AL13 + and still love it. Have since gotten 9 other razors, among them the AL13 ++, Rockwell 6c, 1964 Gillette Slim Adjustable, 1974 Gillette Super, Leaf Twig, a Merkur Futur clone.... all are great in their right, but I'd have to say my "desert island" razor would be the 6c. Pretty sure i could load a piece of wet cardboard into that thing and get a great shave.
Great razor. Thanks for your support
I have the 6c. I really like how smooth it is and it'll mow down a ton of growth with the #6 plate.
Me too. A fantastic razor
Great review. Thanks for sharing with us.
@markh1324 that’s great news. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Love my Rockwell. First DE I bought and still the favorite. Only downside for me is I got the 2c. Have been shaving for 2 years on plate 3 with no problems. Wondering if I should get the 5\6 plate and try it. Opinion? Great vid.
Yes. Get the 5/6 plate. It’s my go to plate
I have a 6C and tried all of the plates. I like #2 plate.
I started with a 2C too, and after a few months I ordered the 2/4 and 5/6 plates, automatically converting it to a 6C, and the increased plate options give you more control over your shaves. Rockwell is just it dear. 😊✌🏾
Do you have a list of blades without wax? Thanks
No, but I can come up with one. Thanks for the idea.
I have the Rockwell 6c, and the T2 ss. Love them both. The 4 plate on the 6c does it for me. It all depends how I'm feeling as to which one to use.
Good call

If it’s tugging, you need a more aggressive plate or setting. Possibly sharper blade as well.

I have t2 stainless. Love it. it really is as smooth as Ohio shaves says. Its crazy how little blade feel they have even on 6. Just a great design.
Hopefully if I can grab it on black friday, i'll be joining the T2 club. Love my 6c but I think it would be more convenient to use a dial to adjust.

Get the Thayer's coconut and apply it during and after your shaves using a misting spray bottle. The coconut water in it provides a little extra lubricity. Especially nice before reapplying shaving cream between second and third passes.
That’s a good tip, but I can create a banger lather just with the brush and some water the premier soaps I use

Thanks for sharing
I love the 6S! So glad I got it!

Every razor is a little different. I use the Rockwell three piece on 6 and a leaf for my head. Once I started buying various soaps, I really started to like shaving. Great video.
Thanks for sharing!

@@OhioShaves Thank you, sir!
Thanks!
Not sure if I agree with the blade gap. It’s mentioned nowhere on the website.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing
I have two Rockwell 6Cs just so I can blind test different blades, using both razors on the same shave. I think I have a medium course beard. Rockwell blade vs Feather blade, I couldn't tell the difference. I do a three pass shave.
interesting. Thanks for Sharing. what plate do you use?
@@OhioShaves I use a plate 3 or plate 2. I've experimented trying to see the lightest plate I can use and still get a good shave. Having two 6Cs was handy for that also.
I'd love to see you do some blind tests if you happen to have two of the same razors. It's fun to do the reveal after the shave.
And thank you for your channel, you taught me how to shave. Cheers.
I just bought a Rockwell 6c. Can you recommend some blades to pair for it for someone new to safety razors?
I would buy a variety pack off of Amazon. Once skin and hair type is different. Me personally I like persona, comfort coats, Astra, SP, and feather blades.

Thank you! You too!
Thanks for sharing with us
Another great video. Thank you. I don't consider the 6C an adjustable but more an interchangeable razor. The T2 is more an adjustable.
A lot of people like the plates over turning and trying to get it to the exact shave that you had the last time on T2 by turning a knob that is a micro adjustment..
@@OhioShaves I have no problems with the 6C. I just don't consider it as an adjustable. It's more interchangeable.
So out of all the razors you've tried now which one would you say is your absolute favorite? Thanks for another great video too.
I really can’t single out one particular Razor. I have several favorites. It all depends on how much growth I have and what I’m trying to accomplish in my shave for that day.
Let's just say 7 days growth bbs which one would you recommend?
Nice shave
While I do have a Rockwell 6 C, my favourite adjustable continues to be the clone of Merkur Futur.

Have you ever tried the thurlady? Found it on Amazon for 20 bucks right now... Highly adjustable, magnetic to help with the loading and a nice looking razor.. Not sure if it's made in USA but for 20$...i figure maybe you could do another budget razor test.
I have not
Not yet!
I love my 6s, eventually gonna get the tto
Nice
Rockwell makes good razors might suggest the 6C to a new comer that would like to dial in their shave but the T2 is a winner. I never go above a 4 on the T2 and only go for a four when I have been lazy and have multiple days growth.
Right On
I've heard that the 6C is smoother than the 6S. Do you find this to be true?
@OhioShaves Entonces la 6S afeita mejor que la 6C, más suave y eficiente?.
Yes
Making do with what you have. That's a great thing. Thanks for sharing and your support.
