Not only is this a great video for learning Bitwig's Polygrid... this also is perfect for anyone who also wants to learn the basics of how modular synthesis works in a simplified manner too
For those who are watching this series for the first time, I am telling you, after you finish it, do not despair if you do not understand it 100%. The grid needs some time to get familiar with it. Rewatch this series after several months, and then everything will make sense.
I just learned something new! - Disconnect the key tracking pre-cord from the oscillator Pitch In - Connect the Pich In (I/O) module to the oscillator’s Pitch in - Adjust to 119st You've got an instant drifty analog vibe! Hurra! Knowledge!!!! Thank you once again!
Wow Just found this. The best tutorial yet. I just bought Bitwig, because my Cubase crashed and my computer will not launch it ever again for some reason. Didn't like Cubase anyway. I am discovering Bitwig for the first time. Now I have Upgraded and will download this Series, everyone... 😊❤👍💯😜
Wow, being using Bitwig for years now ans this is one of the best Grid tutorials I've ever seen ! You're very articulate and the sound of the video is almost perfectly mixed (I can't stand tutorials when the music is 10 times louder than the voice). Gonna did the whole playlist, thank you very much !
Thank you for explaining this to this old guitar player just getting into Bitwig and was thinking I made a mistake in upgrading from 8 track. Excellent job in explaining it in terms I can understand!!! Liked & subscribed!!!
Thanks a lot for this! I've watched a bunch of grid videos but never really quite understood what's going on with the basics, especially phase, but you made it very clear.
Thanks. That was the idea, starts at the bottom. No complex patches, no million connections. Just the foundation, once you get it, it going to very easy for you making great sounds. Keep it up.
Very good video. Clear and precise. I look forward to watching and learning more. I have not really dug into the Grid but I hope to change that. Many thanks for taking the time make the videos.
Thanks man !! The series is not about recreating anything, it's just about learning the modules so you can build it yourself. There a lot of videos out there showing you complex things or recreating. I didn't want to do the same.

I am back Peter, I AM BACK !!!! It turns out everyone in my family, wife, kids, Mother, Mother in law and even her dog decided to get sick, so it took me our for a while. When they recovered, then I got sick....but I am back now. Check your patreon, you have 7 episodes available and in a couple of days the remaining ones. It's going to be like 12 or 15. Lets see how the videos go and if people like them, before planning for more.
Nice that you are back, glad to see you. I'll watch the other episodes step by step. Currently a lot of work and I actually only have the time on weekends.
What would be better than this tutorial is You build some nice sounding thing (drum style in one video, arpeggio in another, etc), then start from there and take parts out to show what they do, until you have one thing left, and then rebuild the thing.
Thanks, great video, I was waiting for a tutorial like this to start learning The Grid. One question, very basic probably: How can we play chords, if it is only possible to press one key at a time.
Thanks for the comment, if you click outside a module, click the black grid, at the top right side you will find an option thats says "poly" or "mono". This is in the same bar where you change your device phase setting. So go to poly and select how many voices you can do.
Except voicestacking, there is no poly-mono option i could find... after some minutes, I found it. But still there is no Poly or Mono. there is Mono in the Voices and I needed to click and drag it up to change it from mono to Voices, then the problem solved... Very simple but hard until you learn.
the grid, is a plugin. It's like saying I cannot use plugins to load other plugins. Or... "hey arturia why I cannot load synths inside synths in your V collection?".... The grid is a modular synth, that is all.
My problem with bitwig that it always sound like bip bop shit insted of music. So ypu can tweak few knobs in serum and get a decent sound. Not here. As hard as i try its sonds like shit. Hope this tuts make it more prettier)

First time seeing this as well.

you're a psychic! what an epic timing!
you are a psychic !! How did you know I am a psychic ???? :O
Haha, thanks for the comment, it helps to keep doing them.
This was incredibly helpful to a guitar player that barely knows anything about the modular world. Thanks so much!
Thank you! Excellent tutorial! A Coffee for you!
Best tutorial for THE GRID I ever saw! Thank you ☺️
Thanks for the comment !!!!

Thank you once again!
Fantastic tutorial. This actually encourages me to finally start learning how to use The Grid.
Great to hear, thanks for the comment :)

Thanks for the comment, well I am a 27 years guitar player. So it was from a player to a player :)
I was really waiting for grid series, thank you
I hope I don't let you down...I've recorded 15 episodes, let's see how they go before I plan more, and your comment helps. So thanks for commenting

amazing thanks 😀
Awesome presentation, thanks for sharing this with us ;-)
oh great, I can't wait thanks to your great tutorial on the grid to make patches by recreating a waldorf microwave xt and more👍
Thanks man !! The series is not about recreating anything, it's just about learning the modules so you can build it yourself. There a lot of videos out there showing you complex things or recreating. I didn't want to do the same.

Whoa !! Thanks you David. Today's coffee is on your honor :)

Perfect!!!!!!! 👌🏾
Nice 👍
Thanks. hope you like the series. For now is short, like 15 vids. But if people like it, i can extend it. Lets see how it goes.
thanks for much for this basics
Thanks, as the episodes advance the idea is to go deeper and deeper.
@@XNBeatsMusic yes this is not very in depth :D but still enough to get me interested in the whole series because i lack a lot of modular knowhow
Any chance of an intermediate or advanced grid course from you coming? Or do you know of one? Thanks for your work!

7:20 Your door is ajar
I'm new to Bitwig. We can't use VST plugins in the grid, right?
That's a serious design flaw :/
the grid, is a plugin. It's like saying I cannot use plugins to load other plugins. Or... "hey arturia why I cannot load synths inside synths in your V collection?".... The grid is a modular synth, that is all.
You can add as many plugins as you want after the Grid device, but the Grid itself is not a host, but a Device, like Zebra or Serum. Hope it helps

My problem with bitwig that it always sound like bip bop shit insted of music.
So ypu can tweak few knobs in serum and get a decent sound. Not here. As hard as i try its sonds like shit.
