    HYPED!! So because I am coming back to heavy training after a "layoff" (due to injury) I think the tips in this video will apply to most people who are unable to train normally due to the pandemic. Hopefully you guys will find it helpful for when we're all back in the gym as normal. I'm hoping sooner than later! I put the summary and tips at the end of the video by the way. Peace!

    I saw this video a year ago. Before then, I was so scared to squat, I was constantly hurting my lower back. I realized they weren't injuries anymore, just my body freaking out at straining the lower back. I started squatting again, with perfect form, and treated my lower back muscles just like any other in the body. Workout, embrace the pain, recover, workout again. A year later, I've added 100 lbs to my squat alone and am lifting the heaviest I have ever lifted in my life. Thank you Jeff.

    I started training more powerlifting than bodybuilding this year and I’ve already added around 35kg to my DL 10 to my bench and 30 to my squat. It’s really fun!

      I started training more powerlifting too recently and my bench went up 20lbs. My deadlift up 100lbs and squat up 60lbs. I’m coming off a leg injury so my squat still needs work. However, I only started training deadlift 3 months ago and it was 215lbs. Now it’s 315lbs (which I got at powerlifting tryouts)

    I used to compete in power lifting and when training for a lift event I typically would never do heavy training lifts in the pyramid starting at around 6 heavy on back to back days. This was particularly important if I was doing squat or dead lift. These lifts, if you are approaching your 1rm, hit everything pretty hard and there is the mental and nervous system fatigue factor included. Obviously on lift day you do all 3 lifts at your 1rm on the same day. I found sometimes that one or the other of my lifts would actually be more than I could hit in training which I always thought was a bit curious. I sometimes beat my best my best 1rm in a competition.
    I trained for 6 months one year to beat the state record in my weight and age class. I had it. I was at least 65 pounds over the state record a couple weeks before the state meet. I had 525 dead, 365 bench, 550 squat in the wraps and straps. My lower body and legs were my big strength probably all going back to being a track athlete in high school. I worked twice as hard on bench and got half the gains I could get on legs. On the 60 degree leg press I did a knees to the chest 1rm for 1000. 4 people were spotting me on the sled that day. Those days are long gone now. I won't see those kind of lifts ever again and I'm not training for that any more now. Too many years have passed. So I was in the gym and needed a spot doing my 2's and some idiot came in the gym with the flu and coughed the flu in my face while spotting me. It was a bad flu virus, fever, vomiting, dehydration. I lost 6 months of training and missed the meet. I decided at that point that I had been pushing myself long enough for years training for power lifting competitions and hung it up. Now I just train for myself.
    Hesitated to mention this on your squat but it may be time to adjust you stance some. I had to do that to get past the 500 barrier on mine. I kept my deadlift wide and feet angled to the outside because it never stuck on me. Squat did hit to a stick point. I was a bit too wide and had to bring my feet in to just outside of shoulders and feet just a bit wide of parallel. Watching your squat your foot position may be just a bit too narrow but it is just a guess. I do think the knee kick out is holding you back(just my opinion).
    This is something that might help. Take off your shoes, no weight, just do a natural squat to the bottom, hold it there and note particularly where your feet feel the most natural. Then drive straight up in one movement and see how that feels. It may help you tune your foot positioning. That is how I determined how to re-position my feet and point my toes out just bit more. A little bit on this with the weight you are pushing now will make a significant difference. I am not any kind of self proclaimed expert but this worked for me.

      @@NitinKumar-lq6bj I appreciate that is true for many. I've been training for a long time, track all of my food and cut at no more than 0.75% body weight per week. I also measure body composition (with the admittedly low accuracy calipers and tape). I'm confident I'll regain any lost muscle quickly through muscle memory.

      @@keelanenns4548 hey, when im not losing weight for wrestling im about 138lbs and 9-10% body fat, right now im in a cut for a tournament and am at about 132 at 8%. Im almost 19 and after my next few tournaments I plan on bulking up to 145 at a max of 12% body fat. My new maxes sinces my last comment bring me to a total of about 865lbs (BSD). Good luck with you gains bro hope we both get huge like jeff one day lol!

    I know a guy who had multiple surgeries due to accidents (motorcycle/ horse...), but still deadlifted 500 with only a belt, and he did it conventional overhand for his 60th birthday

    Bro glad you made a lot of progress strength-wise on your full body high frequency program! I’ve been doing it also pre-quarantine but decided to take a break since I don’t have any equipments and also decided to just do it all over again after all of this is done. Would be glad if you could also show us any changes in your physique with the said program. I’ve been thinking if I should re-do the program or just wait for the new powerbuilding program. Cheers!

    I started a simple 5x5 programme in May because I read that's what Reg Park used to do. I started noting down what I was lifiting on June the 6th. from 6th June my Bench has gone form 65kg to 117.5kg (5RM), Back Squat 50kg to 112.5 (5RM), Trapbar deadlift form just lifting the bar to 118kg (3RM) and finally this week I tried a deadlift weighing in at a mighty 60kg hahah. I reckon that my dead lift will go over 100 kg by the end of the year.

    9:38, im a disabled veteran, for 2 years i lived inn depression and a vicitimized lifestyle. What he said is 100% correct, you got to shift that menntal attitude. My diet and phyqise went to shit, went from 200lbs to 140 (stomach ulcers contributed to weight loss) almost 5 months ago i got back into a 5-6 day routune and worked from the ground back up. Back at 163lbs now. annd Feelings great despite fracturing my L3-S1 years ago.

    Jeff as a certified trainer myself you are truly wise beyond your age! You have the genetics for a powerlifter and it is so good to see someone training hard making gains and not using performance enhancing substances like so many others who do not care about long term health and only immediate gains!     I personally watch a lot of Tom Platz when it comes to learning how to squat. I think he's absolutely right when he says people load up the bar and don't focus on using their quads. There's too much butt wink and use of glutes and lower back which takes the pressure/pain of the quads. Personally I've lowered the weight significantly and slowed the down part of the exercise, focussing on going straight down like a dive (as Tom says) and not bending over. The difference in the feeling in the quad and quad development is huge.
