I have to say this guy is the most professional and easiest guy to understand vs all the others. I remember back in like 2008 when I was only 14 I learned how to do corner beads and drywall in my old house for my mom.
That’s an excellent video. After watching many other videos that did not make sense I did the way that made sense to me. Your video confirmed that my way was correct. It made me feel more confident in my approach and now I don’t have to wonder if I did it right. I am a DiYER and I am happy that I don’t have to wonder if my work is going to fall apart in the upcoming years. Thank you!
LET ME JUST SAY THAT IM SURE WE ALL APPRECIATE THE TIME AND EFFORT YOU PUT INTO MAKING TEMP WALLS AND EVEYTHING ELSE YOU DO FOR YOUR VIDEOS. FANTASTIC !!! MAKES ME WANT TO BUILD A NEW WALL JUST TO MAKE AN ARCHED DOORWAY. COULDNT ASK FOR A BETTER INSTRUCTOR. THANKS AGAIN
After watching several tutorials, yours is the most thorough and descriptive I have watched. You absolutely can't go wrong with your instructions so hats off to you, you're absolutely amazing! Despite not subscribing to most videos I watch, you've turned me into your follower!
Thanks for the video! Really one of the few things i cant / or really havent done is drywall, so you videoa are really helpful thank you. ...One thing i do know from when we built our house is, the reason your bull nose didnt come all the way down on that corner you showed us, because that where the bottom trim butts together. We used bull nose in our house. Love it ! But it wouldnt hurt to sand or scuff it up a lil before you mud it. We have some chips hear and there. Thanks for the help!
your video really helped me use this weird tape. the company does not give good info on how to use this tape.I ended up ripping out what I put it in last night because it looked horrible! after watching this,I know how to do this professionally thank you
Nice work Shannon. Very well explained and demo'd. A nice change from all the fumbling stumbling hack job videos I went through to get to you. Seriously, a job well done.
THANK YOU so much for this! I'm having my counter tops replaced and had to cut off a little length on my bar area and need to replace the corner bead - this was VERY helpful.
Thanks donnell 688 the comment on the drywall being back 1/2" was magic, as it allows the bullnose to lay flat to the wall. I used a dermal to cut my back after having attached it to the wall flush with the walls. This is a great video very well done if you have not done arch corner bead on an arch before the Trim-Tex 847 Adhesive is a must, don't try to mud or staple it to the wall which is a lot of work, which I did with my first arch.
I couldn't find anyone who had done knockdown on double bullnose archway. So I went ahead. With a cheap texture spray gun. Sprayed, let dry about 15-20 minutes, and then did knockdown with knife and round wipe off knife. There was no ridge or seam. Looks great! Hopper fell apart during spraying. Suggestion, rent a sprayer with hopper separated by hoses and then have someone keep hopper full so a more even spray, none stop!! Then you don't have to rotate hopper and connecting pipe. I hear the new cheap sprayers has a rotating nosal for ceiling and walls.
I really enjoyed your videos. I just stayed up all night looking for how to videos on drywall and I have to say most of them are just not as informative as yours. I have a huge project coming up at my house in the bathroom and I need to learn how to put up drywall and to use the mud properly. So I will be watching your videos again when the project rolls around! Therefore, I subscribed to your channel. :o)
I am installing bull nose corner bead in an arch. The bull nose tabs are not lying flush against the drywall unless I screw them down. Can you recommend a strong glue brand instead of nails ? I tried loctite 200 contact cement but its too weak.
I appreciate your detailed comments and demonstrations. My questions are: What do you recommend for mud in each stage? Do you mix your own? I like the Easy-Sand 90 best and use it for most stages from first layer on the bead to the final skim coats. Also, do you like sponge sanders for the curves? How do I sand this without removing too much from the little seams? Does sanding mess up the corner bead too much?
I just realized this was ten hrs ago, but I was looking for the adhesive he used. Question is there a specific adhesive that is needed for this Application. I’m by getting ready to put the bullnose on.
Your instructions were great. It worked fine. I stapled it all over but on the tabs used a new sharp box cutter to cut edges that bent up! My entire house is knockdown texture. Can it be done to archway with bull nose on both corners? How to prevent ridge or edge from knife and round wipe down knife.
I have a corner that's 135 degrees instead of 90. Is there a special bullnose for that or is there enough flex in the 90 plastic bullnose that the glue will still hold it it place? Thanks.
I'm finishing my basement and I'm in the stage of getting mud tape and texture bids. One contractor said he attaches the rounded corner bead with staples and a contractor that came out today said he uses mud and tape over the seam, no staples, to keep it from cracking down the road. What of the two would you use or would you get another bid. I really like your work which is why I'm asking you. What is a reasonable price for a 1,000 sq ft basement, 90 sheets of drywall? I wish you were in Colorado and I could hire you because you do such nice work. Great video.
i Prefer metal with paper attached if they are straight corners . You need the plastic if you are doing an arch like this. As for cost it is hard to say , as prices are different everywhere.
Hi,What i am doing is putting round bull nose corners on all the square corners,my question is do i need to use sheet rock tape along the edges after i get the bull nose on there,I realize that the bull nose has tape on it all ready so what do i do???
pennyann smith No just apply mud to both sides of the drywall corner, cut the corner bead to length (actually 1/2" smaller) place the bead against the mudded corner and tight to the ceiling . Press it firmly in place all the way along its length. Wipe the excess mud off. apply more coats over the bead as they dry and then sand smooth.
Love all your videos! Since it's been 9 years since you posted this, are the same bullnose corner bead still the same thing you would use today? Or is there something different/better than that now in 2022/2023?
Shannon quick question sir. My buddy dented his metal bull nose on one of his walls. Can I just cut that section out and replace? Or do I try to remove the whole thing? Thx
Is there any special way to handle where the bullnose corner meets the top? I assume you would need to have your inside corners of the ceiling finished first before you would put this on the outside corner?
Great video Shannon, however when you applied the rigid bull nose you just started pushing in the bead right away instead of quickly checking on both sides up and down if you had a raised lip or not to mud against. Always an important thing to do and should never be overlooked, especially with the glue method since after a few minutes it's stuck.
I know this video is old, but just in case you still get notice of new comments, can the bead just be attched with drywall screws instead of glue or mud?
was the corner of the wall recessed or were the edges flush? one vid guy said you have to recess one of the sheets so the bead will work, is thaat true ?
Shannon, any tips on installing bullnose when you have two pieces that meet on a 90 degree angle? I have a closet in my basement that I'm in the process of finishing, I've decided to do sliding barn style doors on it so I want the sides/top of the opening finished like the rest of the room. The sides will meet the top of the opening at 90 degrees. Or maybe there is not much to it, just thinking about it in my head I feel like there will be a small area at the corner if you just push them together that will be void of any bead...
By the way, some day if you are leveling a toilet, remember to turn the camera on. I've had a few toilets through the years that needed leveling because of rocking when you sit on them. I wonder if I'm doing it correctly.
Hey Shannon.. You rock.... I love your videos... whenever I need input, I turn to you..... Thanks so much.... P.s.. Is there a product to convert a square archway into a curved archway? like in your video without having to re drywall corner curves?.. thanks again...
Now remember everyone the glue is for the plastic bullnose corners not the paper bullnose where you would apply the mud on the wall before applying the bullnose to the wall. Some may confuse that.
I remember back when I was a kid (the 70's), a lot of houses had white plastic strips running down the walls to protect the outside corners of the drywall. They were so ugly.
How come u not use mud to put arch instead of glue. I dont see point of putting mud after its glue on when u can just coated n use a made piece of bullnose to fill arch
this guy is so professional i watch all his videos, he explains everything so well.

As always, I appreciate the well done video.
Shannon,,, Just to let you know, you have been a big help to my unfinished basement.
THANX
Man If I have to make that room in my backyard I am doing my own sheetrock . You gave me so much confidence. Thanks
Thanks, I'm getting ready to do a keyhole entry and this explains the flexable bullnose installation very well.
Thanks for the video! Would have liked to see the completed work of the mudding, sanding, paint etc. Good vid.
Shannon, you are the f****** man! Manliest man I know.
I love the way this stuff looks in a home. Been wondering how it was done. Thanks
Such a great, simple demonstration. Now I feel like I could give it a try. Very informative and liked listening to your voice. Thanks!
That's a great extra touch that makes all the difference, great video !!
Nice work Shannon. Very well explained and demo'd. A nice change from all the fumbling stumbling hack job videos I went through to get to you. Seriously, a job well done.
Thank you from a fixer-upper lady, well explained!

Loved this video! Exactly what I needed to see for my newly drywalled arch. Thanks!!! Love your videos.

thanks guy for the quick reply, now i can get back to the summer honeydo list of finishing the basement. Thank you!!
nice video, thank you for the instructional video. Now I know how to fix the hole I made on the wall when I was drunk.
Thanks for the tip. On my way to home depot to get that bull nose now.

Love the just like normal comment at 5.00. Obviously his normal isn't mine!!! Great instructions
thank you for your knowledge...you're an excellent instructor sir...
You're welcome.
Excellent! Thanks! Subscribed & Liked !
I always wondered how this is done. Thanks for the demo, good video.
I love watching a master work. Well done man.
I just finished a bullnose arch. Takes quite a bit of work.
I'm doing a repair for a water leak. I'm expecting to be at it for awhile.
Like the glue idea. Great demo and thanks for sharing.

How can you get ride of the lines in the middle of the bullnose arc?? I always end up building up the mud around the bullnose to get ride of the lines
Over fill and then sand.
I have learned lot from your videos. Excellent explained. good job
Thanks
thanks for watching
Shannon, your videos are excellent! Thanks you so much for sharing!
I just realized this was ten hrs ago, but I was looking for the adhesive he used. Question is there a specific adhesive that is needed for this Application. I’m by getting ready to put the bullnose on.
It is generally sold where ether bull nose is. There are many different brands.
@@HouseImprovements thank you for that, you made it look so easy,

There are off angle corner that may work for you, the 90 will not
You are a great instructor!
Do you know how you cover the little spaces on the arch corner bead ? I finished and I could not seem to fill those .
You need to build up the mud a bit and then sand smooth

Is a plastic corner bead better than metal?
I prefer the metal with paper attached myself
Love all your videos! Since it's been 9 years since you posted this, are the same bullnose corner bead still the same thing you would use today? Or is there something different/better than that now in 2022/2023?
Same products.
What’s the glue called? Just spray glue?
Shannon quick question sir. My buddy dented his metal bull nose on one of his walls. Can I just cut that section out and replace? Or do I try to remove the whole thing? Thx
yup, cut out a section.
@@HouseImprovements sweet thx sir
What about the round part. Does that just get painted?
Yes
Is there any special way to handle where the bullnose corner meets the top? I assume you would need to have your inside corners of the ceiling finished first before you would put this on the outside corner?
I usually do all of my taped or mesh joints and then outside corner beads. But the bead tight to the ceiling and that is it.

Hello I like that ideal where could I get this cone molding for dry wall and that glue that's really neat
most drywall retailers will have it
Exellen Thanks for example was the best class ever.
lol ,thanks

@3:09 "....ceiling up above us" 👍 classic bahahahahaha
Hello, where can I buy that adhesive?
I know this video is old, but just in case you still get notice of new comments, can the bead just be attched with drywall screws instead of glue or mud?
The screw heads are kinda large to cover but 1/2" staples would work I think
@@HouseImprovements thank you for responding!
The drywall should be cut back 1/2 inch at the joint, each side, entire length Yes/No? That way the bull nose doesn't stick out too much.
was the corner of the wall recessed or were the edges flush? one vid guy said you have to recess one of the sheets so the bead will work, is thaat true ?
Yes the sheets are not flush , they are back 1/2". Basically line up the ends of the sheets with the edge of the framing.
This is one great video!! Thank you for doing this, very helpful!!!
Good work ,I have a small space to put a door I would like to build a sliding dutch door thank you

There are corner pieces you can purchase for that. They fit between the vertical and horizontal pieces.

Thanks. I'm not aware of any product like that.
Where did you buy the arch bullnose bead?
My local lumber store has them.
Could you also just spray the inside of the corner bead? Then no extra glue on the sheetrock.
No you need the glue on both surfaces
So you mean both sides of the sheetrock? Or the surface of the plastic beading and the sheetrock?
How do u do on ta window .
Very good job...congratulations
What kind of spray adhesive
3M 61 or there is a product made by Spraytex as well who makes the trims. Its generally sold in the drywall area if they have the trims.
Now remember everyone the glue is for the plastic bullnose corners not the paper bullnose where you would apply the mud on the wall before applying the bullnose to the wall. Some may confuse that.
Couldn't find the video showing you constructing the original arch template. Do you have a link?
Thank you for the video you are good, I can now do it, thanks again
What kind of glue do you use on the bull nose?
I forget the actual name but you need a spray glue and you should be able to find it anywhere you buy that flexible bull nose
