The red guitar Kanami was playing was one of her signature guitars from Addictone, she had one in green and one in red. Of course, now she plays several PRS guitars. You probably noticed that Misa was still using a 4-string bass rather than the 5-string she uses now. This is one of only two songs I think they have that the lyrics are completely in English. You really should look up the lyrics, that might help explain why Miku seemed to be running towards that tower in the video. This one was written for them, and at that time Miku was the most fluent at English in the band. I can only imagine her translating the lyrics into Japanese and seeing Saiki's expression when she found out what the lyrics said.

The tone on Mincho's Adictone is still my fave. You know, when her guitar without the Eventide octave harmoniser still sounded like a guitar.🤭

The only time Band-Maid Let Me Down was when they stopped playing after a 2-hour plus burnin'🔥hot concert. I guess it was a good thing because everyone was sweaty (wet? ;-) and spent (spent? ;-)... except the Maids. 😅 Thx, John!

A Maid running 'pigeon toed', in high heels, through the streets. What's not to love? Oh Yeah! and it's a banger of a song. We are blessed in 'The Time Of The Maids'.

Funny story behind this song. It was written by someone else and Saiki had zero idea what she was saying due to not speaking English so she had no idea how pervy the lyrics were until years later on a show Miku translated them in Japan for an interview and Saiki turned bright red now knowing what she was saying.

This video got recommended to me seven years ago, I'm so glad I clicked on it. They only had a few videos at the time but that was enough to hook me.

You love how melodic this is? Heh.... wait till you check what the lyrics are trying to say.
(Bear in mind that the lyrics and song were not written by the ladies yet at this point. Saiki didn't even know the meaning of what she was singing..... lol).

  • @drvijil
    @drvijil 11 месяцев назад +1

A fun banging song with racy lyrics. They played this often in small venues In their early days and they killed with it. Kanami was playing Addictone guitars. Misa was still on a 4 string bass. Akane was playing her basic single tom kit. Miku was still playing her first Rickenbacker and she can run fast in high heels. All said, a very cool video.

she is running with a smile towards a big tower... SYMBOLISM XD
    check the lyrics.
Miku always knew. Saiki did not fully grasp it at first. And all needed to explain to Kanami, probably XD

    • @MoonmanRedux

      Sounds about right:
Miku : Our bass player (MISA) loves the dirty jokes. She starts it. MISA the bass player usually starts it.
Saiki : Like "Do you know about...?"
Miku : She gets a naughty smile.
Saiki : "Hey, hey, do you know about...did you see it ?" Our guitar (Kanami) is unfamiliar with dirty jokes, so she always asks "what does that mean ?" Kanami is very studious and serious so...
Miku : She is intellectually curious.
Saiki : So we need to properly explain to Kanami the dirty jokes. Then Kanami asks follow up questions "but how about this...?"
Miku : Thus the dirty talk escalates.

When you watch any of the old videos look for MISA's Fender Bass. She has Jimi Hendricks stickers on it. They are there for her mother who listened to Hendrix when MISA was growing up.

    Kanami is
    Playing an Adictone guitar.
It’s a custom guitar company in Japan that makes super high end guitars.
I believe the Tono Kanami sig model is still available.

MISA-san likes the band Ruido Rosa from Mexico. You can check them out but their MVs don't have subtitles. They're good though. I like them.

Other ways to spot old/new Band Maid is Miku on Rickenbacker, Misa also has a Jimi Hendrix sticker on her Fender, Akane wearing the "Tiny Hat" to which she eventually said: "You know what? Fuck this hat".

The footpath up to the tower at the end seems to be a really popular photograph spot. People queue up to get their picture taken there. I'd love to say it's down to Band-Maid, but the truth is that in Japan they really aren't all that well known, especially outside Tokyo.

Easiest way to tell which era you’re in with Band Maid is the presence or absence of the legendary, most holy “Tiny-hat” on Akane-san.
You will see it in all its glory when you do the full concert @ Zepp.

John, I’m a bit disappointed…you missed that the vocals are all English AND you failed to comment on Miku’s perfect running form. 😂😂😂
Hey, while your at it, I have a recommendation you won’t get from most Maidiacs. It’s there one other all English language song produced by famed Bowie producer Tony Visconti. His buddy had the lyrics and he saw Band-Maid, loved them, and thought they’d be perfect for the song. Kanami and co. came up with a killer, heavy riff and Misa and Akane joined right in. I think you’ll like despite the heavy subject matter of the MV.

This might be the 3rd or 4th song I ever came across for these ladies. Kanami still playing her signature Addictone and Miku with her first ever guitar and not even really playing it. Probably one of my favorite songs before they started writing their own stuff and still heavy enough to keep coming back to

  • @mikeat2637

This is not one of their own songs, it's written by someone else, probably connected to their record company at that time. Also, I'm pretty sure this video is from before Miku learning how to play guitar, so she's an air-playing Guitar Heroine at that point, lol.

Dude, I just came here from your daylight video by David kushner. If you liked that style with a deep gravely voice and a simple song with powerful lyrics that hits you in your heart feals, check out (keep the wolves away) by Uncle Lucius. It's awesome and is a true story written by the artist. His father was injured during the BP rig blowout, and oil spill. His lyrics and voice are amazing.

The writer also did a self cover of this song as well, sounds VERY different from the maid's version in arrangement. Glad they went their own route for this one.😁
Also RIP Misa's tiny hat.(it was originally it was Misa's before Akane adopted it)

This is one of 6 of their songs that I added English subtitles to over the last couple of years (now all on FB/Meta at BAND-MAID SUBTITLED MV'S) . Bit pointless, really, as it's 1 of the 2 songs where they sang in English but not many had seemed to notice it wasn't in Japanese so it seemed like a good idea at the time. Quite naughty lyrics and not a song that they wrote, so maybe that explains why it's rarely performed.
