So I was working during the game and was unable to watch because I couldn't have my phone. I understand that the refs were bad and the play were the nd guy didn't get up was awful but were the calls just really bad the entire game?

@@zdawg2257 I'm a ND fan, but no, to me the refs weren't bad at all. They rightly called some blindside blocking penalties on SC and the coach went haywire, but they were the right calls. SC also got some iffy calls, one on a TD that was very close to being out of bounds, and another on a personal foul against Jaylen Sneed where the announcers themselves had no clue what he did. The SC TD probably should've stayed how it was called on the field, so I get that one. But all in all, the refs weren't the reason the Irish won today in my admittedly biased opinion, but I think it's justified

As an ND fan this was how I wanted them to play all season. This game was by far the best when it comes down to the wire. Usually ND will lose its way in the second half but this game they thoroughly played their hearts out despite the turnovers. Good job ND!

ND's problem is that they win the big tough games or at least make them close, then they end up losing the little games that should be blowouts. It's always been that way. This was a great game, congrats Irish!

@@theskeptic2010Aside from this year it has always been the inverse. We’ve beaten 2 top 4 teams in the last 10 years I believe and both have been Clemson in the last 3 seasons. It is usually the opposite.

He was injured during the Marshall Game. He has played 1.5 games since high school before this game.

I totally agree with that.
Both teams were missing key players, ND had a QB that hasn't played since week 2. This happens every year, before transfer portal, big programs have been dealing with guys not playing bowl games bc they've declared for the draft. Outside of the CFP, Bowl games have become even more trivial after the new transfer portal rules. It's literally to make more money, that's it.
Yup and college football is completely ruined now. None of these games truly matter anymore because even when a team wins, the loosing team will always just say it was because they had key players opt out. Just look at how much Vegas changes the spread once players start oppting out so it changes the outcome completely. College football is ruined
@@Mr.BL0NDE_ Good game from both teams but nd fans are clueless .. talking about their opt outs lmao sc was down 20 PLAYERS , 20!!! 5+(at least 5) of those of going to be in the nfl some day soon which included the 2nd , 3rd, & 4th leading receivers for the team and missing 2 starting dbs(both going to the nfl) and one of them dbs was cam smith who is a top 3 corner in the nation .. and also we had only 1 tightend considering the other 4 tight ends on the roster opted out .

Real happy for Coach Freeman! Glad he got his first bowl win under his belt. Hopefully it's the first of many. One of the most entertaining bowl games I've seen in a long time. I'm just glad we came out on top.

After losing so many offensive players at the end of the regular season, South Carolina played extremely well. Hate they were unable to bring the win home. Congrats to Notre Dame on a well played game, but a bigger congrats to Shane Beamer and the entire Gamecock program on an exciting year!
The Gamecocks did better than expected that’s for sure. As usual a little luck helped the Gamecocks. I don’t know if you Gamecock fans have figured it out yet but if your guys are ranked that’s when you lose your games. It’s better when you’re not ranked because then you win games, ie Kentucky and Tennessee for examples.

@ljsmixbox44 players entering the transfer portal and giving up eligibility to enter NFL. We lost RBs, almost all of our TEs, and WRs. That's why you saw Jordan Burch, a DE, playing offense trying to catch a pass from Rattler. Unfortunately, he didn't bring it down because it would have been 6. I mean, the guy is 276# and 6'6".
@MrByrne3 maybe Carolina doesn't have the record ND has, but you'll see us in the top 25 more often now that Beamer is here. I mean, come on, Carolina was ranked up there 2010-2014. We finally have a coach, since Spurrier, that can take us back there.
@user-wf9lr8qk4z Well, given that ND was supposed to beat Carolina and didn't take the lead until the 4th, I would have to say that I'm surprised that ND came back to win. Both teams played equally well. ND just controlled the clock better.

2 interceptions and 14 points given to SC. Hard to believe ND still won.
21 point swing, because they were ready to ice the game with 5 minutes, and were going to be up 14. Turnovers are really what beats a lot of teams. Notre dame managed to squeek this out anyways.
This was Marcus Freeman's Irish team! Under Brian Kelly, Notre Dame would not have competed like this. They would have gone down big in the First Quarter, like they did, and then basically skated by the entire rest of the game, keeping SC from scoring more points, but also not scoring any more themselves, and basically only losing by two touchdowns because SC took their foot off the gas in the 4th Quarter. But Freeman's team kept battling, and kept their noses to the grindstone, no matter what went wrong! This is a different Fighting Irish than we have seen for most of the past decade!

Notre Dame vs South Carolina, that was an outstanding game with 2 great Football program going at each other in an outstanding atmosphere, it is really a shame those players who were able to play decided not to play, to me it reveal no courage, afraid of getting hurt, I would not want this type of player on my team.
That's why college football is completely ruined now. Now anytime a team wins, the other team will just say it was because they had key players opt out. It completely ruins the whole sport. College football is over now because of that

7:17 was an amazing throw and catch. I’m not sure he was in bounds, but still outstanding. ND hasn’t had a QB who could make a throw like that in years.
im a ND fan so im not just saying this for obvious reasons, but i dont think it was a catch either, as spectacular as it was. you could see the plume of white dust (for lack of better word) from the white paint from the white sideline pop into the air from when the tip of his foot hit it.. but we could arm chair quarterback this awesome throw and catch all day. its just my speculation is all. either way, a great game.
Glad my Irish won and how they dominated the 2nd half…But I wish this game meant more so we had a true representation of these teams. Both teams STILL had a lot of talent on the field and they played their hearts out-I guess that’s all you can ask.

@@nb2078 there was no indisputable evidence to overturn it. the shoe and the end zone were too close in color to be able to tell that it was out. all the angles shown in the game on television were not enough to overturn the call.

As a USC fan, I am really impressed with the Notre Dame quarterback. I can see why the other quarterback Drew Pynes packed up and left town. This guy is pretty good.

ND had their two best players out for the draft, they had to play their backup QB who lost to Marshall and hasn't played a single down of CFB since, their starting QB transferred to Arizona State and that same backup threw 2 pick sixes...but somehow ND still managed to win. I gotta say I'm impressed with my Irish! GO ND!
They have been impressive since their 0-2 start, Freeman is building a great program at Notre Dame.

@Buckeyes and Tigers Kelly ran his course at South Bend. He could never get the team over the hump against the big boys. Freeman has done a good job recruiting so we'll see what happens next season.

ND were without All-Americans, TE Michael Mayer, and DE, Isaiah Foskey, plus other defensive players. QB Tyler Buchner was playing his first game after being out all season due to an injury. QB Drew Pyne, who played the entire season, was gone in the transfer portal.

We did all of that without an OC, without our NFL talent, with our 2 best players ditching us, and with very significant players out on IR. This hurt but our recruitment class is stacked and we’re miles ahead of where we were with Muschamp. Couldn’t be more proud of my Gamecocks and more excited for the future

@xskymneyv3rt778….wow, just wow. The kid has rotten QB mechanics and his best asset is his ability to run the ball. At least he’s won a game now as an ND starter, because he deserves that. It might also be his only one should Sam Hartman choose to transfer to ND. Because Freeman will go with his recruits after the 2023 season (Kenny Minchey, and possibly CJ Carr if he remains committed)

Grew up loving the Irish but the year South Carolina had I was hoping this was yet another win for the Gamecocks but this was a great game overall Offense Defense and Special Teams all played a factor in the end Notre Dame's running game was tiring out the Game Cocks defense
