Colin, you're the man and have become for me synonymous with all things GarageBand and Logic. Thank you for doing what you do. I believe the reason one of the snare style options is "tom" at 13:21, is that it gives you the ability to write a tom into your manual pattern, since they only included kick and snare for manual editing. It would be nice if they included toms (and crashes) in the manual pattern (maybe a future update?), but this is a very usable workaround. It is amazing how Logic 11 allows you to customize kick and snare and have the rest of the kit and the style filled in accordingly. When I look at the midi underneath some of these patterns, there are constant changes that people don't realize - changes in articulation, intermittent foot pedal activity, and other things that you just wouldn't know to do as a non-drummer. These things make Logic 11's drummer easily the most realistic programmable drummer I've ever used. Just insane. (I'm finding more and more tricks the more I play with it). Rock on! 🥁

Hey Colin, that was great thank you very much! I'm a singer-songwriter, very much rhythm challenged - meaning it's very hard for me to play to a click - and I've used about every virtual drummer tool there is. I used the old Logic Drummer quite a bit, but was never quite happy. Started using the new Drummer Session Player and again it was more interesting, but still had a hard time getting to what was in my head. Your video explained a few nuances that I hadn't seen in others (I've watched them all!) and I can't wait to dive in on my next project! Cheers!

I just found the channel, great video. I just updated and had an “oh no” moment. I use the former version of Logic drummer because it’s so intuitive and easier then scrolling through loop libraries. I typically would create with Logic and then copy it into another midi track using Superior Drums. This looks like you get even more control to shape things. Thanks the video took me off the proverbial cliff.

this was great. thanks. So to basically do a verse pattern, then pre chorus then hook-you need 3 separate drummer patterns that you moderate yourself for each 8 bars, right?

Hey Colin, great video as usual. Like you, I’m a lapsed drummer and I love how quickly Logic or GarageBand drummer gets me a great groove to work from. For creating new music I usually stretch the drum groove to the typical length of a song and then divide it up later and set fills and dynamics once I’ve played some parts over it and have an idea what the structure of the new song might be. I’ll leaning towards buying Logic now because of the chord track and AI Session players. I think I could really use these. Is there a way I can buy Logic which helps you and the channel?

Very cool. Anxious to try layering a Logic beat with a second manual track (like an extra beefy kick in certain sections, or...)

I kinda did it by accident... sounds beefy!
especially if you alter kit or some of the sounds on one of the tracks..

Your videos are really helpful. One suggestion, though. You could be more detailed and specific at times with regard to HOW you do things. You often tell what can be done without saying what you need to select to do it. Telling the specific steps would be very helpful for me.

I really like your tutorials. Thanks! I have some problems with the 11. First, it updated itself automatically from 10 to 11. So I lost my old 10. I miss it sometimes, I guess I will get used to 11. A problem with 11 is that it has missounds, especially when recording the bass. Most times it sounds better when I turn off and restart 11. So I wonder should (can) I delete the app and redownload. Or do I lose everything? Greetings from Finland.

ok, maybe easier to copy down to an extra track, where everything but the snare can sound, and mute the snare in the original track?

It's the Mac philosophy I think. Write programs for the iMac and at least you can cure your own glitches! lol
Also, the buyer is 100 percent sure it's Mac's fault if some glitch arrives on the scene.
The Logic program its so big, it pretty much blows everything else out of the water regarding value for money as well! J

I've been using Logic drummer for a while, and I appreciate its intuitive interface. I also have EZ drummer sleeping on my hard drive, and whenever I try it, I'm overwhelmed by how much better its sounds are. However, I find that interface a bit of a nightmare. Even their "bandmate" feature gives me a headache. Is there a way start out with Logic drummer and then finish up in EZ drummer, or am I setting myself up for twice the pain? Sorry to bother you with this question, but the RUclips guys who try to explain EZ drummer are doing a lousy job, at least the ones I've found so far.

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  3 месяца назад

You can! You just change out the Drum Designer plugin (at the very top of the channel strip) for EZ drummer.

Just started playing round with this, I think this video we'll really help.
The one thing thats giving me trouble at the moment is this:
If you drop in a drummer track it seem to drop in an 8 bar sequence... lets say I want to have a minimal version of that, ,missing out the fill I will clip half the track away. But then it will change the pattern to fit the new part size and add in an unwanted fill.. Suppose I can convert to midi and copy that way but it seems to lose some of the feel/sound.. it starts to sound different.. and defeats the object of using the AI drummer in first place (ease of use, versatility etc)
    any pointers lads?
