What if i told you its gonna be exactly the same because this isnt even an AI, its just a script that copies the existing song and replaces it with another voice. It cant create anything. Can only use existing stuff.
I love how the evolution of music is just so unexpected and unpredictable at times, I never though I would cry to squidward singing "My Way" or Mordecai singing "Golden Hour"; But yet here I am.

I make these purely for fun, as someone with autism who's also WAY too attached to fictional characters it's just really fun to make my favorite characters sing songs I like.

That Plankton cover COMPLETELY caught me off guard. This video's a nice change of pace; rather than reflect on the horrors it could bring to artists in the future, you're covering what makes them enjoyable to begin with, in a way that couldn't be done before. Well done.

Going by this logic, this is an also great reason why virtual singers like hatsune miku got so popular in the 2009's - They were literally fictional characters with fully fledge stories that their songs could use as a premise.

I feel like this is an evolution of Fandom amvs. Fans choose popular songs and put it together with clips of their favorite show. The song would match with the themeing of that show or with a character. Now this is said characters singing those songs that fit their personality or arcs.

The meaning of songs like these get turned on their heads when the singer passes before the song is released and, in my opinion, often add to the emotion behind the song. Its not longer the music you're listening to, but rather the unspoken words of a dead man who for a brief 2-5 minute window has a chance to get one last thing off their chest before once again resting eternally

Honestly, I really enjoy the Golden Hour Trio, it's unironically one of my favourite songs now, just because it's so well done, they harmonise perfectly! You wouldn't think Mordecai, Squidward & Spongebob would be so good together. The Phone Guy Cupid one is also good

A lot of people like to shit on everything an AI does. And while there's a lot of aspects I agree with legal and ethical-wise, fun and creative stuff like AI covers are one of the many reasons why I still love this technology. Because with these in particular, they're not going out of their way to harm someone's carrier (mostly), they're just doing some fun "what-if" scenarios with characters they love growing up. Taking a song and combining it with a character that parallels similar, or even same experiences as the song's artist. This and YTPs are the kinds of media transformation that I love seeing.
What about for artists that are no longer with us, like Michael Jackson?
What's pissed me off the most so far is how people tend to dismiss voice actors when they express concern over other people using their voices for things like these. Funny meme videos aren't gonna put voice actors out of work, but the way that I've seen people dismiss VA's concerns out of hand just angers me a lot.

@@kittykittybangbang9367 to summarize: Someone made a AI cover of Bo burnham using one of Lindbecks characters, Futaba, from Persona 5. Erica really doesn't like the whole AI voices/Covers thing so she told the original creator to take it down, which they did not. She then got clapback from the supporters of the AI cover (Mind you that most people would just take it down and be understanding, but some AI cover makers are assholes, these are the equivalent of NFT bros in how hard they defend AI art or AI use in general) and then a bunch of asshole guys started to bullying Erica for caring (in the same way that Crypto bros shit on people for mocking their JPGs) and she left twitter for a week before returning. Even though the original RUclips video of the Futaba AI was taken down, some dickheads reposted it just to spite Erica.

Glad I’m not the only one that got hit hard when listening to Mordecai sing golden hour. I hadn’t even heard the song until then, and now, I can only picture him singing it about Margaret. I’ve gotten really invested in AI music from stuff like this.
One of my favorite character AI covers that I found is Firey from Battle for Dream Island covering the Angry Birds Rap. It’s not just funny for me, it’s genuinely so nostalgic since I used to watch both of those things to death when I was a young kid browsing early RUclips.

I was waiting for a video of some kind about these covers and Its cool to see your (seemingly) one of the first to talk about them! I whole heartedly agree with everything ya said, and I'd like to add on that because of the ways certain characters may sound, it gives an extra deeper feeling that the original artist may have been unable to replicate cause of the gritiness or smoothness of the A.I voice.
Course I don't belive the a.i voices could take over any kind of music industry, and I'd rather they not and just stick to being used for this since it's not only way funnier but weirdly amazing.
These AI covers are insane imagine if albums from artists were just AI made now with the artists just writing the songs.
Vocaloid Artists have been doing something similar to that for years they wrote the song and used Vocaloid voices and synths with their music lmfao.

there's a few AIs people use, but the most common and simple to use one is at the moment is RVC v2, if you wanna see how they're made there's a ton of tutorials on RUclips about it

Glad to see that there are more people on board with using AI covers for fictional characters than I initially thought, and that's oddly comforting. There are people who legit hate the very idea of AI being used in ANY art-related field whether it's drawing, animation, music, voice acting and singing (argued with one of them myself on a Discord server the other day). I'm personally against AI "drawings" as someone who has friends that love to draw, I have very mixed opinions on animation interpolation since there are some that make me uncomfortable and some that genuinely look good (especially modern ones, and that's coming from someone who has watched the Noodle video), I haven't listened to AI music before, but there's just something I find appealing about having random fictional characters singing songs I like, and I don't hate it as much as AI in other fields. People tend to use the word "likeness" when it comes to arguing against the very concept of AI covers, and that's why I personally think that voice models of characters aren't as "unethical" as those of real, talented people (especially those who passed away), they're not using anybody's likeness in any way whatsoever and as far as I know, they don't harm anyone, unlike the voice models of actual celebrities, of course.

combined they all make one hell of a epic peace that can blow many people away. Ai covers can hit all 3 marks just that the tongue is something you picture yourself but that isn't a problem for most since after all lot of us grown up with them so it makes it easy to see them as how we know and going back the glass and the liquid really helps these AI covers shine.
I'm ok with cartoon characters singing already popular songs because first it's funny and second, cartoon characters usually don't sing pop songs.
Cartoons also have real ppl voicing them...and they also don't want their voices to be used

I think Erica's real issue should have been with the studios using AI and not with the people making AI covers. She didn't handle it well and that's why she off social media.

As someone who makes AI covers as a hobby,
I have NEVER thought of AI covers in a way that it would reflect the personalities of these characters.
Well, actually, I did… about multiple times with my own voice models and I didn’t realize it. I was like “eyyy, this song would fit this character so well”, and stuff.
Back in my day we had to create voice covers like this with little snippets of voices cut up and put in software like Utau.
One time, I remember marking time stamps for finding bob in a gumball video, and you replied, I just now remembered that, just wanna say thanks bro
Funny thing is that Frank Sinatra singing Five Nights at Freddy's was actually a real guy making a big band cover of the song. He can just sound a lot alike old ones like Gene Autry and the before mentioned Frank Sinatra. 8-Bit Big Band is the channel name where this guy sang.
