Absolutely love Gamegenic's Art Sleeves. I think the only sleeve type that I use over these are Katanas for non art and Dragon Shield's Art sleeves but specifically their FaB ones. Fun to know that they are continuously iteration on their craft and the sleeve quality should only get better over time!
Thank you for doing this review! I was thinking of picking up some Mando and Kylo sleeves in particular. Now, I'm definitely going to get a set! I appreciate it very much! Thank you! 🙂
Dragon Shield are still the best (especially since they provide the best art sleeves) but Gamegenic became my second pick over Ultimate Guard when i need to trim the deck size to fit an extra one in the box. The shuffle feel is on par, if not slightly better than DS, and the sacrifice of durability in favor of price and size is decent. I might try a set of art one for my Ordis deck
I'm not sure if you've tried GG art sleeves since SWU Set 2, but I think you'll find the newer formula of art sleeves is quite improved. I have used DS art sleeves as well - including more recent ones from this year's Grand Archive Re:Collection decks - and my experience was that they were less durable than these. That said, different shuffling methods and other factors can impact overall durability, so it can totally be dependent on the person or other factors! Regardless, appreciate your thoughts and hope you enjoy them if you try them again!
That was a great video. I usually buy katanas as my go-to sleeves since they don't rip as easily as dragon shields, but I'm sleeving cards in board games I own and they last much longer since I don't play said games that often. I assume that when you use products regularly like sleeves for a deck in tournament, they will rip sooner and I would think you would need to replace them every 1-3 months after they start showing edgewear on them from heavy use (any product, like sleeves, aren't meant to last forever, but if it is a good brand and its decent quantity, you can get a few months of use out of them before you buy a new set, which can save you some cash in the long run if you're buying cheap sleeves every week one a $15 set every month). Its a surprise to me that Gamegenic looks like they are starting to be on par with katanas at this point in terms of durable and making art sleeves to match that quantity, and I might be putting this on my list of sleeves to look at in the future for my board games with lots of cards that could use sleeves. I'm know I'm talking about my use of sleeves on something, but considering its still for cards at the end of the day, I thought I charm it to say that the sleeves also has its uses outside TCGs in a way.
I got my Altered pledge package and got sleeves with it and it's my first time messing with GameGenic sleeves. I havent put them to use too much but the sleeves feel great to shuffle.
Interesting to hear I'm not the only one who's done the matte -> nonmatte swap on gamegenics; now that we're past the days of big important webcam events it feels more ok to have some glare risk. Been liking their sleeves overall for a while now and good to hear the art ones are holding up too!
I actually still use the matte Prime sleeves, but my preference is for the nonmatte. It's not due to glare, though, it's actually because I sometimes feel the primes end up with a little too much friction from the anti-glare finish on the front side as well. Feel is huge for me and the Art Sleeves are a perfect mix now that they don't break as easily.
Maybe you mean the corners? I don't have anything peeling up, just minor (but non uniform) corner impact damage. I think if I took a knife and tried really hard I could get it to peel up from there, but nothing is getting significantly worse just from continued shuffling. I would certainly use a fresh set of sleeves for a major tournament - but I would do that no matter which brand I used.
@@MaindeckGames I feel like they’re def getting worse from shuffling. I’ve never had a dragon shield art sleeve peel ever and I feel like these started peeling after like one game
Might just have to chalk it up to different shuffling methods or other factors! When I use DS art sleeves, they catch and break really easily. These I have no peeling, catching, or breaking with. At the end of the day it's a manual task that we all do a bit differently so that might just be the key!
Are You serious? Every single kylo ren sleeves in this video has delaminated / damaged bottom corners, each in slightly different way. What kind of tournament allows that?
There is NO brand of sleeves that you can use weekly for 2+ months and then take to a major tournament without them being marked. I certainly wouldn't recommend doing that! If your weekly locals isn't allowing dinged corners, then I suppose you might be seeking something else, but my guess is that would be the *massive* minority of locals. Compared to most popular brands, these sleeves feel better to me and have zero breaks after a 2 month period and that's certainly what I'm celebrating here.
@@MaindeckGames You mean NO brand of art sleeves or sleeves in general? If general, I can't agree with You. You say "zero brakes", maby camera shows it more dramatic than it is, but for me they are alredy broken, this delamination will increase.
Yeah, I've never used sleeves regularly for 2 months that I could play in a major event with deck checks. Not a single brand. Katanas, Dragon Shields, Curv - everything would have a blend of scuffs, corner dings, bends, and breaks. But it's all good, I'm totally chill with just disagreeing my guy. Thank you for taking the time to comment!
@@aleksanderwisniewski3504 Using dragon shield sleeves for yugioh for several years I would agree with him. While I did use sleeves for more than a couple months, I was regularly swapping out damaged sleeves for new ones. Probably bought a dozen packs of sleeves for the sole purpose of replacing damaged ones in 3 years. And I would also say that at any point in those years if I had brought my deck to a tournament it would've failed a deck check 1000%. Gamegenic sleeves so far for me seem to be lasting a similar amount of time if not longer. I've been going to locals weekly for 2 months and haven't had any sleeves need to be replaced. Though in SWU you do shuffle a lot less than in yugioh so that probably makes up the difference and then some. I wouldn't say the art sleeves are higher quality than dragon shield, though they are certainly very good quality.
@Binzob I'm seeing from a few comments people rate DS Art sleeves quite highly - I think they're alright, but mine have caught and broken at the sides pretty quickly when I've used them. And I've used them as recently as earlier this year with the Grand Archive Re:Collection decks! All I can guess is that there might be something different being done while shuffling - some people might be more or less aggressive with pushing, or push shuffle more or less, push at a different spot, etc. Glad you've had good experiences with DS Art though - I'm not here to push my agenda, just give my experience, and as long as you find sleeves you enjoy, we can all win!

I’ve actually made gamegenic my main sleeves! They feel so good and shuffle so well, can’t wait to get some of the altered sleeves
I agree, the Altered sleeves are fantastic!
Great review and I agree. Gamegenic are now my goto sleeves

Gonna have to agree. Gamegenic sleeves are best sleeves.

I used those art sleeves with Dragon shield outer sleeves

you're getting closer to 10k dan.
production's too high quality to stay down for long
Flaw: the white background in altered sleeves
Hah, it didn't bother me at all but fair enough!
@@MaindeckGames but if I understand you correctly the sleeves I got from the KS launch party are not as good as the ones post KS... that's a bummer!
Correct, yeah. Those were early samples and they definitely feel just like SWU set 1 formula.
Are they as good as dragon shield sleeves?
I prefer these!
Flexing the kylo showcase 😁
Look, he just went with the sleeves! 😅
Better than DS?
I prefer these!
These sleeves peel like crazy
I have seen ZERO peeling. Are you using the newer ones or the Set 1 Star Wars sleeves?
@@MaindeckGames lol they’re peeling in your video on the edges just like mine
