Man I wish I had a lawn right about now ahah! This video felt like I was watching a movie for some reason, really enjoyed how it was put together, graded and shot. Also thank you for the wonderful grass analogy, I'm going to reflect on that a bunch going forward I reckon
You wish you had a lawn until you start having nightmares about weeds and fertilizer. Haha thank you for the kind words, Willy.
Photography is like growing grass +++ It is the light that makes an image! This video is another gem of yours
Thank you, Joseph!
You sum up a dilemma for all photographers-how to keep going and maintain self belief when the world is already awash with so many images. I think your photos are excellent and always enjoying hearing about your process. Don't be disheartened.
It is tough for sure, Paul. I feel like it has gotten easier and easier as time goes. You just realize that what is always popular is not always the best. And you also realize that even though you might be a bit popular, you are definitely not the best either.
Thanks for coming back.
Thanks for watching!
i love your work , you are an awesome photographer, storyteller! Stop being so hard on yourself! love the images from the pentax 67 105. 👊💯
Such a good message in this one, man. Your way of thinking about photography is so inspiring. It's a process that you have to just be patient with along the way. Like you said, over-seeding is likely to cause undesired results and wow... that's just such a relatable aspect to photography that I think we all struggle with at some point. I have probably rewatched the ending about 10 times now and I think I just need to frame those words starting at 11:48 and hang it over my desk as a reminder lol. Thank you for letting be a part of this one, Bryan.
Thanks for the kind words, Jake.
Motivational posters coming soon to my Squarespace online storefront. 😂
A good way to enjoy my morning coffee today 😌
Hopefully it leaves you wanting to go take some photos 🖤
Lovely photos Bryan! I really enjoyed how calming this video was.
Thank you, Michael! Calm is good.
Great vid man-as usual. Your candidness and perspective rules bro. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
Honestly, I absolutely love your videos and seeing what you’ve been up to. Whether it’s looking at your images, or listening to your words, I’m captivated. Thank you and much love, from across the pond in England
Glad you enjoy them, Heath! Really appreciate the kind words.
Nice video Bryan. Calm and atmospheric.
Appreciate that. Cheers!
Welcome back. You're videos are always like a breath of fresh air, but I understand the need for a break and glad you recognized it, too. I really don't know how you do it all. Doing photography is demanding enough but adding on RUclips, Instagram and TikTok. That is very time consuming. Personally, I would drop Instagram and TikTok. Thanks again for all you do.
I can't drop Tik Tok because I still haven't jumped on the bandwagon. I don't plan on it either. Haha thanks for the support and the comments as usual!
really loved this video, Bryan. It got me emotional, it brought me a deep message. Simply everything what photography is about. Thank you for that.
Thank you for the kind words.
There is no escaping the way of the Pentax sir. Don’t fight it.
Also, wonderful video and love the analogy at the end.
You’ve said this twice now and I MAY have to start believing you. 😂
Your portraits are so great, especially the close ups! Thank you very much for featuring Danica Dora.
Her songs are the second big music discovery for me, for this month. The first one is Ural Thomas and the Pain (Smoldering Fire).
She is great. Surprised she isn't known by more people. I will have to check out the others.
awesome video, loved the comparison at the very end
Thanks for watching, pal.
Really appreciate your video, Bryan. Love your authentic approach and was touched by the portraits you took and shared in this video and your analogy of photography being comparable to yard work and growing grass. Appreciate that you took a break from taking pictures when it seemed necessary-I can relate to that. Thank you for sharing with us!
1:19 - love it!
DM me if you want that sweet discount code.
Another really great video Bryan. Not only the photographs (The colour!) but the storytelling and a view of America that we in the UK don't usually get as we are usually spoon-feed California/New York/Texas/florida & very little else.
What, you’re sick of the sunsets of California and the street photos of the east coast? No way! Haha glad you enjoy. I’ll always offer everyone my perspective on things.
The real shame is all of the great places on the east and west coast that no one photographs because they aren’t popular.
You are the best, Bryan! Love your work, your great photography insights, your spirit of exploration and discovery. Keep up the great work - at your own pace!
Thank you, Allen. Really appreciate that.
Perfect Video! Again! ❤️
Cheers, Kamil!
Great to see you back, Bryan . That's great, you photograph weddings on film . Yep, I gave up that gear head stuff, along time ago . That's why I went back to using film. And, I still use my 10 year old digital camera . Now, time for yard work, me included .
Let me know if you have any questions about weeds. I know quite a bit now. Thanks, Ken.
@@BryanBirks Thanks, I know how to kill off weeds, when my wife isn't looking .KB
Absolutely gorgeous man, all of it. Some of the nicest grass I've ever had the pleasure to watch grow
Haha thank you!
Awesome video!
Beautiful work as always!
Thank you, my man!
Great video Bryan those last words really hit home. Thank you for your inspiration and beautiful pictures as always. 🔥
Thanks for the support as always, Ray. Excited to see where you go and what you make!
Fantastic episode!
Much appreciated, sir 🖤
Words hitting home in that last section. Preciate cha! 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
Thanks for watching, my man.
So good to see you happy with your image making Bryan, it’s phenomenal
Thank you, Gareth! Much happier over the last couple of months indeed.
Nice one bryan! love the photos of 6:33
Forgot to put in the video those are from Jake! Good stuff indeed.
Thanks Bryan, great video as usual and great portraits. Ciao, Rosaria
Thank you as always, Rosaria!
First couple shots gave me some David Lynch vibes.
Honestly haven't seen a lot of his stuff. I remember it being too "strange" for my liking. Maybe I need to revisit.
Loving the way you film the scenes in your videos.
Thank you, Romain!
Nice video and i'm glad the rest seemed to have helped you to put things into perspective. Thank you for continuing to share your work and your thoughts, it's important.
Appreciate that, Phil. Happy to have you here.
beauriful
Thank you kindly.
Well said, Bryan. Beautiful sequencing of the music too. The set of photos of Josh were great as always.
Thank you, Drew! 🍻
Great photos, videos, music, and commentary. I hope to emerge from my own slump soon. Haven't pushed a shutter button in at least a month...
Breaks are needed. It will feel like a new hobby once you get back. Trust me.
Great video.
Thank you, Victor. Glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent video and photography! Your selection of background music really worked well with the video in my opinion! Du Quoin, IL is a cool looking town...I was there photographing some of the old buildings and signs back in November.
It is a great town. A little too flat for my liking though. I need some hills and vantage points!
very nice video and nice point of view of photography :)
Appreciate it!
Wonderful video and yes breaks are well needed. I sold my Pentax and 105 a year or so ago. Biggest mistake but dang…the cost of one now has almost doubled. 😭😂 Keep doing your thing!
Luckily the ones I have bought and sold have been around the same price. Probably because I’ve done it all within a year. Lmao keeping this one! I can feel it in my bones.
I’m taking a break to move from Colorado back to north Texas. It’s been a month or so of packing. It’s been nice to get away and reflect. I think I was taking it a bit too seriously too, but I can’t wait to get setup again and out there now
The itch will always come back. It is inevitable.
Love the portrait work. Reminds me I have to do some lawn work soon. That's a little bit of a bummer 😕
Huge bummer. But it feels good in the end when it all comes together. Kinda like portraits.
Making good work that's meaningful to you is the only thing that matters. Posting schedules/algorithms be damned. As always, beautiful photos and presentation.
P.S. I MADE IT IN THE VIDEO! Its an honor and a privilege and I'd like to thank the academy
Brb going to make a Tik Tok to stay relevant.
That clip is from the part about edibles. Haha
@@BryanBirks amazing hahah
Mate you need to get that back door fixed in the Pentax :D Look for a brighter focusing screen (although the standard one is plenty bright anyway) and your small issues will go away :D
Surprisingly I haven’t had any problems with it since that day. Not sure what’s up but we’re all good now. 🤘🏻
@@BryanBirks it's just the Pentax taking revenge you've abandoned it so many times before :D
Have you tried using Fujifilm GFX camera? Any of those digital medium format. I wish you'd make a video about that camera. Thanks,Mate.
Never used any digital MF. Would like to but $ and Fujifillm isn’t knocking on my door with a free one anytime soon 😅
As usual a lovely relaxed honest vid. Thanks again, fan from Belgium.
Btw what song is it at 8.25 Shazam can't find it.
Thank you.
Both of the female led songs are from Danica Dora. She doesn't have much music out but she's an artist on Music Bed.
@@BryanBirks thank you so much. She definitely has a new fan.
How's your load-out for the weekend in Vegas going?
Vegas sounds like my literal nightmare.
Thanks for sharing… what is the music for this episode?
Female led is by Danica Dora. The other one is by Dick Penner (what a name).
@@BryanBirks thanks for. Getting back to me Bryan .. could you tell me the title of Dora’s piece I’d appreciate it..
🖤
It's been a month dude... :'(
Sorry about it!
