Dear Gunther. This is a very valuable video. Especially for this complex machine. For the first time I flew the PC 21 properly thanks to your help. Using the subtitles made it easy to take notes. The start has been made, but I will continue to practice with great pleasure. Just curious, are you Dutch or Deutsch?
Great that the video can help. I really liked this complex airplane. I also had made a second video for this airplane with more explanations about the CDU should you need it. I'm from Belgium. My main language is Dutch. Thanks for the comment.
Thank you so much for your fantastic tutorial Gunther. I don't think I have ever seen such well explained and easy to follow tutorials/explanations and I've seen a lot. Perhaps companies such as Iris could pay you to do tutorials for them and up their prices slightly as they'd be providing a more complete package (and possibly more saleable product) as a result. I hope you get the IRIS Pilatus PC-24 :-) Keep up the great work.
Huge thanks for the very nice comment! It’s really appreciated. And I'm of course very happy that it can help you. It's true that when you want to fly a new airplane without help, it takes a lot of time to find every switch and understand all the procedures and systems. That’s why I make a summary video after I have studied and tested as much as I can. Some people like to do that. I too would have no problem familiarizing myself with a new airplane with a well explained video :-) I understand what you mean about the Pilatus PC-24 :-) Thank you for taking the time to write a comment and for your support!! Gunther
Awesome aircraft. The Iris PC-21 and PC9/A are well worth the money as they really give the feel of being behind the very powerful engines in both aircraft. Many people seem to complain about poor frame-rates, however, this was addressed with an optional "light gauges" installer located in the base FSX directory under: "IRIS\Pro Training Series\Pilatus PC-21\Optimizers" Great video! :)
JockoFlocko Thank you for your compliment! I also enjoy flying these 2 airplanes. I never had problems with the frame-rates till now, but your tip is certainly welcome. It could help some viewers. I also like the new IRIS T-6 Texan II (I made 2 tutorial videos). Really like to fly it too. But I have the impression that it uses a lot more memory than the PC-21 and PC9. Thanks for sharing!
A beautiful plane; I purchased the add-on myself recently. I notice you're dealing with the same issue I am; namely the Pilatus veering off sharply to the right during takeoff. This is an issue I've noticed in a number of add-on planes such as the Razbam Harrier and the A2A P-51 Mustang. I've yet to figure out a solution for either the Pilatus or the Harrier. Terrific tutorial though.
Thank you! All airplanes with one or more propellers have a tendency to yaw to the left (some to the right) at takeoff. You must add the opposite rudder (right for left movement). This is because the propeller blades are turning in one direction. This creates forces that push the airplane in the opposite direction. The P-51 Mustang is known to have a lot of yaw at takeoff. More technical explanation: cfi-wiki.net/w/Turning_Tendencies
How coincidental. I spawned this flight at KSFF, and was flying to KSZT (about 13 miles from my house), and decided to find a video to check a few items and confirm the correct start-up procedure, and I find this video. I recognize KSZT in your video, are you from this area? Anyway, thank you for the video, just a little creepy to be flying the same plane, the same route (though reversed) and apparently 5 and a half years later.
Thanks for the comment! What a coincident indeed that the flight is between the same airports. I'm from Belgium. To learn to fly this simulated airplane, I read the full documentation. I have no real life experience. I try to be as correct as possible using this information I have, but it cannot be completely correct.
@@GuntherWillems Thank you for your reply! I've been through the manuals, but sometimes I find it really helps to see visually someone walking through the procedures to help it sink in. If you're ever in the area of KSZT, give me a message, and I'll be happy to show you around the county. Thank you for all your work in making these videos, they are a great help!
Thank you! Wow, it must be impressive to work on such airplanes! At a minimum you need a decent PC with a decent graphics card. A flight stick or yoke with or without pedals. I still have a flight stick with twist rudder. You need a simulator: FSX:SE (MS Flight Simulator Steam Edition store.steampowered.com/app/314160/) or Lockheed Martin Prepar3D (P3D) (prepar3d.com/). And in this case, the Pilatus PC-21 simulation from IRIS simulations (www.irissimulations.com.au/ It can also be bought at other online stores like Simmarket, Flightsimstore, JustFlight, ...). It is compatible with P3D v2. It's a bit special to install it in P3D v3, but I have installed it and is working. FSX isn't going to receive new major updates. Dovetail that has the rights is making a new flight simulator. Prepar3d is continuously updated an improved. It has certainly much better graphics and is very optimised. The license is for training and learning, not for gaming. I have Prepar3d v3 Academic. Optionally you have add-ons like photo real sceneries and airports, real time weather, more realistic traffic, professional GPS simulations, ...
hey. Wow amazing, Could you please tell me - what is the purpose of these strange patterns on the upper part of this aircraft windshield, like seen here: 1:28
Yoiu need to invest in a Track IR. It makes the game so much more natural once you get used to it. I guarantee you'll love it. I certainly did :D P.S. May I suggest that you shut down the entire airplane before you start to record? I'm not that familliar with most of your airplanes and to me it gets confusing considering I think you're starting up the airplane, but then you're still shutting down systems. I'm not that smart of a man :P haha. nevertheless.. awesome videos :D
+spacedigger Thank you! I considered Track IR but I would need to sit with a sort of hat before the computer to attach the device. (I don't wear glasses either). I also considered EZdoc. Thanks for the tip! In all my videos I start from cold and dark and shut it down at the end of the flight. Like in real life. In this airplane simulation you can start with the cold & dark configuration. (1:53 minutes in the video). Because the cold & dark configuration leaves some switches ON I first set them OFF. In real life the pilot always first checks that all is OFF before starting the startup procedure. They do this in the interior check procedure.
Gunther Willems There is a trackingclip you can attach to your headphones. Haven't used it myself, but a lot of streamers on twitch use it. Maar ja, waar moeten we die kopen hier in de buurt.
+spacedigger I hadn't thought about connecting it to headphones. I don't use it when flying, but could use it only for attaching it. Thanks for the tip.
In the beginning when I was flying this airplane simulation, I had the same question. It is the canopy detonation cord for when the ejection seat is used.
+PKPat In the beginning of the video I show how to set it in the cold & dark configuration. From 1:52 to 2:48 minutes. In my version some switches had to be set to OFF to have it totally off. (=interior check procedure)
+PKPat In this airplane the interface to the FMS is called the CDU (Control Display Unit). It is working but you cannot insert a flight plan manually. You must do this in the simulator (or Plan-G or another flight plan manager) In this video I mostly used the UFCP (up front control panel). I made a second video in which I mostly used the CDU: IRIS Pilatus PC-21 tutorial 2: using steer-points & CDU: ruclips.net/video/3nZNzkEaxvE/видео.html

It is caused by engine torque.Use rudder to compensate.

Canopy Fracturing System when pilot eject the seat it will explode.
HOW programming RMM in left MFD?
