I grew up in mount druitt,I never once had a problem in the area. Never once felt unsafe.
As every area does, you do get problems time to time but people from areas like mount druitt will always be the first to jump in and help in any situation.
I have worked all across Sydney, and even nsw doing a range of diffrent works where I interact day in day out with public.
I have worked in the most prestigious areas, the most run down areas and everything in between.
One thing I noticed whilst doing this is that Mount Druitt was the only place that I was offered drinks, coffee, cake and even lunch by people that saw us working out in the heat.
It’s the people with the least usually have the biggest hearts, and I’ll be forever proud to say that’s where I come from.

Thank you, Jamie, for going out to Mounty County (Mount Druitt) to see what a day of living in Mount Druitt is like. I've lived in many different areas of Sydney, and honestly, Mount Druitt people are as normal as any other suburb in Sydney. At least you got to walk on these peoples properties, without having to stand from a distance, and to reach their front doors, with a knock here and there, getting a lovely welcome from them, even though they may seem weary of who you are, and to see how they lived, gezz these people may not have much but at least they have big hearts.... NO JUDGEMENTS, just humility and empathy from the worse Suburb in Sydney. And the people you got to converse with during your visit, were even happy to have you chat with them.
The people are as real. They are as transparent as they come. Seeing your video of when you went out to the Eastern suburbs, wow, massive contrast to how people are.
Mount Druitt isn't a bad suburb it's the way the media portrays it out to be. Yes there are crime and bad situations that happens on Mount Druitt, its no different to other suburb in Sydney. It's just interesting how the media never misses a moment to mention Mount Druitt when it comes to bad news, but any other suburb it's only mentioned by its districts.... ie: South Sydney, north Sydney, Eastern Sydney...🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ anyways, keep up the great work you're doing, Jamie. Totally love the work you continue to keep sharing on your platform. 💯👍🏽👌🏽😊🥰

Mounty was the first area I lived in when I moved from NZ, in my 2 years living out there I never had any problems, even when I had to walk home from work late at night. the rich dont want their skeletons shown to the world so they use their money and power to never have bad image said on about them "it could ruin my reputation as a douche" lol and since the poor dont have that ability all the bad things that go on as well as just having to grow up in that enviorment makes alot of ppl especially youth act tough and fit in with the culture... ppl interact with them as well as whats on the news and booom you get MT DRUITT labelled as this dangerous 'hood. the rich have just as many problems especially with drug addiction, domestic violence, white collar crimes fraud and that, it just gets tucked away behind million dollar walls and security barriers so no one can get 1 foot in door let alone near the closet... ppl who live in MTD or other places like that tend to be living on top of each other, not that theres no room in their closet but its really a metaphor and a weird reality where they dont want to hide their skeltons at home because home life might not be stable or like a safe space, plus upper and middle class ppl tend to not immediatly confront issues especially w other ppl they know, they just stuff that shit down until they snap on a totally different innocent person... ive noticed that ppl from the hood may get rowdy more often but its like their way of in the moment venting their frustration so it doesnt become a bigger issue... better to have a little light punch on and shake hands then get into serious beef like where im from the US we really keep them tools on us... i know yall aussies usually move with blades lol
the funniest part is the middle class has all the same problems but for me i grew up middle class with many friends in all 3 so i got to see this shit happen in real time... we middle classers, just slowly sulk into the shadows cuz we not good enough for the rich ppl and we too good for the poor ppl... kids and teenagers dont even care that much about that but the parents DEF do and that starts soooo much drama... every class talked shit about the other two it was hilarious like yall dont even know them like that and you just assume... just like the guy in video experience rich ppl are snobby and typically very douchey in what they say or how it comes off AND ppl from the hood are some of the nicest ppl ive ever met, families who are on food stamps or struggling with shit, invited me for dinner or would pay for food if we went out and often refused the money i had to pay for my own stuff if needed... i remember a rich mom and dad took a group of us out for pizza or something and us being kids like 12 13 14 just talk to talk and say dumb shit but we were like ohhh i have 10 dollars i can get this and just bragging about having like 5 dollars but thats 500 to a 12 year old lol, you would think these rich parents who make bank live in million dollar house have BMWs would pay the under $50 it was for them and a few kids but they only paid for them and their son, made us use our money lmao... fucking dickheads bruv.

While this may be a much more respectful take on the area than what's been covered by mainstream media, it still fuels the stigma that many of us, who grew up in the area, still battle. It was like you went out of your way to find every derro in the neighbourhood and they were the only ones willing to talk on camera. I grew up literally 3 houses down from where you were filming @4:20 and my parents still live there. Majority of the people I went to school with at Bidwill High School have gone on to do well in life, with well established careers, etc. But unfortunately, some never escape the perpetual cycle of generational dysfunction that's been fuelled by decades of poor government policy, created by out-of-touch bureaucrats who have failed to understand the needs of the people in this area, who really need a 'hand-up', rather than a 'hand-out'.

I lived in the suburbs of the mount druitt area (shalvey) for 16 years of my life. ( I'm now 24 )
Here's what I have to say; the surrounding suburbs of mount druitt or places like Whalan, Emmo (Emerton), bidwill, tregear and shalvey aren't as bad as some people make it out to be.
If you aren't looking for trouble, you won't find it, you just gotta know people and sure sometimes It can find you, but shit that's life and the game we all played / still play.
The community is always looking out for each other and honestly if you've lived in those area's you know almost everyone either in your street or your suburb. The adults, the kids and fuck even the dog out the back, you've either been into everyone's house or everyone's been in yours for either piss ups, the cards night or a cook out / BBQ.
In the summer it was standing out the front with either a blow up pool or sprinkler and if the neighbors kids were around, it was water fights with water balloons that would cost 50c and leave red marks all over you.
And in the winters it was always the empty oil drum and a fire with beer, cheap soft drink cans and a sound system blasting music till the jacks arrived and told you to shut up 😂
There is problems in some areas but hey, when is there not problems in this world from time to time.
I still call it my home even though I don't live anywhere near NSW or MD anymore
2770 all love from me 🖤‍🌕‍❤

most of these ppl find simple life enjoyment kicking back with their homies in a safe place where no one bothers them having some brewskis and not thinking about their problems for an hour or two or three or however long they can make that moment last. also most of them that go find a job get put in something with ppl they have nothing in common with so they feel alone or lesser then because the other ppl are from normal areas not the hood, no one like them in most jobs so its hard to feel part of something when they nothing like you... shit alot of those ppl not even ones in video but the real "searchers" they HATE working... why live a life of crime if the easy/good route was really like that? they have to work they ass off for 1-2000 a month when they can hit a solid lick on whatever they good at hitting and make 1-2000 in a day... or sell drugs, thats fast money that anyone with half brain can do especialy given ppl drop out of school so finding jobs like that are hard.

That said, anyone who works In a bottle shop or pub here in the Territory can become a target very quickly, and our Attorney-General assures us that our jails are full. I also grew up in Mount Druitt. I lived there for 18 years. Here’s a few things I experienced as a child.
I saw a man get stabbed, a woman glass her parter in the face, had my house broken into multiple times, once by other children, once while I was home and awake at 7 years old. Watched my mum get attacked by a drunk aboriginal woman at McDonald’s, I got punched by a 40 year old islander man at the age of 11. Had 3 separate adult women try and get with me before the age of 13, one of whom succeeded, another who’s boyfriend became aware of her attempted misdeeds and came to my house to try and beat ME up (at 11 or 12). I’d go over to the houses of school friends to play and their parents would smoke bongs in front of us.
I could go on but I’d be here all day. I think Mount Druitt is ok depending on what part you live in and when you lived there. For me it was Blackett in the early 1990s - 2000s (the height of the regions crime rates) I agree that trouble comes to those who look for it, however, sometimes you encounter trouble even when not looking for it. Based on the childhood I had, i’d never risk bringing up my children there but that’s not to say there aren’t some really good people there because there are.
As soon as I turned 18, I got my own place far away from there and never looked back. Best decision I ever made.

What I find is that rich people are more than often more absorb in their own lives. Kind of makes sense as they have bigger thing, things they would deem more meaningful and valuable than just chatting with a stranger. The people with less often give more of they time as they don’t have much more external simulations.
So in general rich people are more concerned with what they have already going on and less likely to harm random people on a whim.
Poor people are more likely to interact with you so in general more interaction= more likelihood of violence. Also they do have a much higher tendency to break in and steal. Because rich people already have what they want why would they need to break the law to get what they want.

She bought a housing commission house which was for sale which had her then move into the area.
She worked very, very hard and sadly passed away one year ago.
Apart from the little buggers of kids who would jump her fence and try and break in she never had a problem.
    She’d tell them off.
She was there for over 20years.
I hated going there to visit her but she was ok with it.
Glad you came to the conclusion that we are all the same..
    Good doco
