How deep to cut into for dice. Nice project.I just got a new idea much as yours, incudes the dice twist but I adding on the end a normaly wood project a pizza cutter by" Rockler wood working and hardware." as a gift for my daughter's birthday comming.
Hoj When the piece is hot almost a black heat dull red brush with a brass brush it would add some accent to the piece. Great video gonna have to try this. Thanks for sharing, Martin
cool like i said i do certified structual, welding and i bring home lots a scrap a36 and a50 a575. which i figured is grest for decrotive things. i got square stock like you wouldnt believe lol. thanks man as always your a BIG help!
You could save some time if you did your die layout cold with a center punch, it would help with alignment and speed up the punching reducing the number of heats needed
Great video! As someone who is just getting into forging and also plays a lot of table top games, this is a great project to get me started. Thank you!
are you using mild steel for this like grade,50 or something harder? im a structual, steel welder so ive got tons of mild at my disposal just wondering what you used for this
I don't remember exactly what I used when I made the video, but I'm positive it was mild steel. Probably 3/4 round stock. I've done them out of 1/2 inch, but those get a little thin, and I've done them out of railroad spikes, leaving the head of the spike as is, and those work out pretty cool.
No. I have one, but I was having issues with it. I had to remake a couple of videos because the mic messed up and I didn't know it was messing up until I got around to editing it. So, now I just use the mic on the camera. Is the audio to low?
I saw the idea with the dice in pictures of a cork screw that incorporated the idea. I'm still working on a decent technique for consistent cork screws, so decided to just do the dice on a bottle opener, which are one of the things I enjoy forging the most. I doubt that I was the first one to try the dice/bottle opener combo, but I had never seen this exact idea before.
2 weeks ago I made my own dice bottle opener. It was fun to make! One of my collegaues liked it so much, that immediately ordered two pieces. The idea came from you, thanks buddy! All the best, Rob from Hungary

Not real deep... 1/16 - 1/8 maybe. I eyeball it, so not totally sure of the measurements, but I'm thinking that's pretty close.
As bottle openers go that one looks a little dicey. 👍🤪🤣

Do you use and external mic? And love your videos!

Man,this bottle opener is freaking cool! Was it your own idea? I'm gonna make it soon! :)
