Taking me back to AC Transit too.
I remember AC Transit used have that too.
I love the sound of the 6V92.
Me too! 😁
That sound when the Detroit roars to life!!
Damn that take off tho
Sound just like All SF Muni's Old Fleet with 6V92TAs
Hopefully I'm not the only one to notice that those are the same kinds of seats San Francisco muni used to have.
That bus sounds amazing.
That would Qualify as an "Underappreciated Survivor" as 81-83 are impossible to find. Next Assignment, Please find a 903 Cummins/v730 FLYER! I know one is floating round the bay somewhere.
1657 still exists at MEHVA in Seattle, WA.
I wonder where this bus ended up lol ;)
Omg I used to ride these in middle school. Sounds like they fixed it in this one but they used to have this nasal kazoo like sounding whine that perfectly matched the engine. Orion’s had this too. I don’t know if it was the cooling fan or the transmission.
It only does it when turning now. I think it might have to do with the power steering.
Anymore videos on this bus?
Sounds like first gear is disabled
Correct! That's how they all were when new in 1980-1981!
Some Orion Is had that special 2nd gear start too (for all Allison automatics: the MT-643, the MT-644, the HT-740 and HT-747).
oh yeah thats what I'm talking about
That bus was built in the same year with the same 6V92TA/HT-740 powertrain as Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District (SC MTD) Gillig Phantoms 8050 thru 8063 and 8065, which were also 35 footers.
Can you record the driver area next time?
You should record the IC/INTERNATIONAL School Buses.
I'll try
My god I’m done wooo
I never been on a Gillig Phantom with a 6V-92 in it.
Wow Really? I Think The Ones From 1991-1993 Sound The Best, Look Em Up On RUclips
I rode on a 1983 gillig phantom in Columbia, SC and it sounds similar to this bus.
@@david123321ism Ex-OCTA 1983 Phantoms!! They were all white.
Ac transit 1983 gillig phantom bus
the design has been the same for 30 years
Except Gillig redesigned the front and rear ends of the Phantom in 1983 and that redesign remained until production came to the end of the line in 2008.
Exactly
Try Catching OCTA 2001 D60LF?
There's one 2001 D60LF still around via private ownership. I'll try to ride it.
@@socaltransitstudios do you know what unit that is? #7416?
7415.
@@socaltransitstudios nice. 7415 is privately owned in Las Vegas Bus Repairs and is also used as a party bus. Most likely she's just sitting there right?
Yes, it's sitting there right now.
