Its so interesting how we look at the 90s like they used to look at the 60s. Completely different eras with different styles, cars, trends, music, lifestyles, etc. Being born in 94, I don't know if it's the Nostalgia getting to me, or if we really aren't advancing as much as we used to. Since everything is captured online and recorded as trendy tiktoks, it seems like we're losing something in our way of living. Like authenticity. 10 years ago I was graduating high school, but even in that time, not much has changed society wise.
The original spirit of Sacramento shown at 21:40 with the glass enclosure on top - that boat showed up in Sacramento either late 1990 - like December….or early 1991 - I REALLY think that happened in 1991 - we tied up to Raley’s dock and watched the chaos as they initially tied up behind the Delta King. It was called “Showboat” when it first arrived in Sacramento. It burned in 1994 or so, and attempts at rebuilding have not reallly ever been successful. Now it sits on the levee near Garden Hwy
Ha ha..l thought the SAME thing! I was like, wait, there's NO way they named a street Kroch way. Not until i did i map search did I find it was Krogh way. LoL
I do believe that is Sunrise Mall by the looks of the Sears being on one side with the mall entrances just to the outside of and on both sides of the Sear. This side of the mall is facing Greenback Lane if you go through the Sears to the rear exits.
I'm 99% sure that isn't Sunrise Mall. They had these raised octagon shaped sculptures you could sit on side stacked up 3 levels. They were awesome. They didn't have standard benches. It wasn't florin which also had a distinct style. Country club plaza had carpet, and Arden had these Aztec style animals all over the place. It could have been downtown plaza before they made it open air, but I never saw it. Sunrise Mall looked really cool before they beiged it ugly in the late 90s.
@@lindsey9728 I actually don't think it's Sacramento area at all. The clip immediately before the mall has them driving through Southern California (On the 10 between Pomona and Covina). And if you look at the mall clip it has a GTE pay phone. GTE was the phone company for that part of SoCal (along with parts of the bay area). But I'm pretty sure Sacramento and it's suburbs were all Pac Bell
I'm way late to reply ha, but that is Arden Fair mall. This was clearly a week day, mid-day, otherwise this place was packed consistently. Way before online purchasing, everyone was there to do their shopping and me and my friends would cruise up and down those isles, trying to stay out of the way of blue haired ladies that liked to power walk the corridors! Based on the Halloween decor in 1990, I JUST turned 14 on Oct. 3rd and was about 6 weeks into my freshman year of high school. (I'm 46 now) God, this brings back so many bittersweet memories. Where did the time go?? Thank you for sharing such an amazing time capsule!
@@jock244u1 The mall at around 8:30 has to be the sunrise mall it's it's sac county, I just realized by looking at more of the footage. The Arden fair mall has an upstairs. But if this is Sacramento county that has to be the sunrise mall, it's definitely not Arden. I'm not 100% sure it is even the sunrise mall. The cheap theater there was on the sears side. But i think in the 90 it was an actual movie theater and they turned it into a cheap one later on. I'm not sure in 90 if it was connected to the inside of the mall i always entered it from the outside. But I'm not sure it's sunrise, and it's defiantly not arden.
Yeah, I think the only reason the date says 1/1/90 is because the camcorder was new at the time and no one had set the actual date yet. I mean, it's definitely not January in this video, at least - there are Halloween decorations everywhere. I bet this was '91 or '92 based on what the two guys at the beginning are wearing.
I like this video takes me back to my childhood memories living in Pomona I remember back then a chocolate sneaker bar was only 50 cent or a bag of Doritos for 99 cents now they charge the triple amount now that sucks
I was too young to really experience the 90s but man, I miss this time. I am not even from the US but I am obsessed with California in the 90s.
Wow i took those times for granted, it seems like only yesterday
Yes indeed the 90s were the good old days
I was a kid then it was so fun then lol 😆
I wanna go back in time
I grew up in Sacramento.
I was only 5 in 1990. I do miss those days, though.
Me too
That 240SX must’ve been a fairly new car back in the 1990.
1990 I was 8. Moved to Mack road when it was still new in 1987. Empty land and new homes...😂😂😂😂 Best times ever.
Wow 1990 I was only 9yrs I was in SEATTLE then in 3rd grade fun days then I miss 1990 lol 😆
My life was so different in 1990. Beloved family members were still alive.
It's 10 freeway on Pomona and West Covia at intersection 57 and 71 area.
I miss the 90s
Everything was so GREEN!!

Hungarians everywhere, mi mindenhol ott(hon) vagyunk...😁
Is it me or did it look like kroch court @ 19:24 on video?

Recommended lol y tho ?, anyways coo video
Is this really 1990 doesn’t look like it looks more like mid 90s or something
False - Tehporp None of the cars look newer than 1990. I was looking to see at least one 94 or 95 model car. Didn’t see one.
SacTownVet to me some of them looked newer than 80s models but then again I’m no car expert lol
@@DAB901 I spotted a 92-95 Civic sedan
