This was a great BTS on the pre-lighting! I learned a lot about lighting for spaceship/sci-fi. It was also great to learn the relationship between the cinematographer and gaffer and how they work together.
So this is the first video I have ever watched from you guys and I have to praise the pre-planning and the use of fluorescents and LEDs (All Hail Kino). The pre-planning is brilliant in terms of not having to worry about where lights should go and setting them up, etc. Secondly, you guys did an excellent job with building the lights into the set. Another 1000 points for production convenience. And lastly, it's nice to hear a gaffer talk about the future of lighting and how LEDs should be the future of film. I'm just wondering: How would you guys account for the short fall off LEDS usually have? Mostly asking about wideshots. Anyway, awesome video thanks for showing!
LED's are nice for extreme stylized and low light situations, but on large feature film sets they are rarely used other than to a add a stop of light in a car, alley, etc
Is that the set where they shot Star Trek: Renegades? I'm sure I recognise it. How does that work? Is that for hire? Where can you find things like that near you? Sorry for asking loads of questions, any answers you would be able to give would be much appreciated. Love the videos; thanks
Hy, I juste bought two light stand on amazon, but i don't know what kind of light I should at first by? Clamp light ? Led panel ? something els? I don't have the biggest budget, and for now, i am looking for something quite cheap, but also good (ahaha totally opposite) what would you recommande me ? thank's for those awesome tutorial, keep continuing, sending love...
neewer's panel lights on Amazon aren't too expensive and they've got a lot of applications. I would get something like that as well as the cheapest soft box light you can find so you can light a variety of situations
+DesiBoyzOfficial they made a video called fan friction, the beginning was great but the story line was just plain terrible, you know at the beginning of porn videos how they try to implement some really shtty story to justify the sex scene, well fan friction was pretty much the same.
+AMA oh and it had gay scenes in it, which I don't understand why they implemented it because the majority of the audience is what I would assume is straight.
AMA Ohh sorry I thought you were talking about a video they removed on this channel. I just checked though, and the video is still there on their main channel.
Thanks, useful info. Love this channel!!! Too bad about all them homophobe comments, missed how funny the short is! Also, I'm in Hong Kong at the moment, will be picking up some LED components to build my own LED panels with dimmer.
+RocketJump Film School I shall make a video on the subject I'm on the forum, great resource. I'll have to get back on and catch up on reading once I'm back in America. Also, found commercial dimmer switches that doesn't seem to offer flickers on a few sec video (Nikon D7000, 24fps)
Wasnt a fan of this sketch. And I was really looking forward to a Star Wars-esque sketch, but this one was too weird, and awkward, and way over the top for me.
Man the lighting in this was gorgeous. Awesome work guys!

Muy buen video, felicidades. Me da curiosidad saber por qué lo musicalizaron con una canción que me hace sentir en mi rancho.
Love this stuff, keep it up RJFS!
How are those Kino's being powered? Is it an adapter that allows them to be AC powered?
Really nice!

+AMA the whole story was based around some gay jedis, pretty odd. I didn't personally enjoy it
