- If you have been wanting to legally fly your drone over people, well, look no further. I was recently approved by the FAA to legally fly my drone over people for up to 4 years. It is important to be aware, safe, and legal when operating your drone, especially when people are present. This simple guide will show you exactly what I did to get the FAA to issue me a 4-year waiver to legally fly my drone over people. And believe it or not, it took me less than 10 minutes to do.

Do you need part 107 to do this?
Yes you do, as they ask for your part 107 certificate # when applying for waivers; however, the process to get a part 107 license wasn't as terrible as I thought it was going to be.
Everything you said in this video was good and correct. However, I think it would have been better if you had taken some time in your video to review the terms and limitations that anyone issued this waiver must abide by. For example, you must have a visual observer with you to fly over people. You must have a strobe light on to fly over people. And there are a lot of terms as to how you should be flying over people and minimum altitudes.
This video is kind of misleading and creating the thought that once I have this waiver, I can just go fly over people anytime I want, any way I want. The terms and conditions are the things that keep this safe, when you actually fly over people.
You're right! There are some limitations and it's important to follow them; and while some assumptions existed, my aim is to keep videos short and succinct. Specific rules are included during the waiver process, and in the interest of time, I wanted to focus on the ability/possibility to legally fly over people.
