Brother i admire you didn't red line for the sake of showing the MPH this bike has in her, and at stock at that. I do have a one, with the Akripovic exhaust, so she is flashed mapped and all of that, and I have left dual Teslas, Vettes, Camaros, Mustangs etc in her wake. This Bike moves, rides, corners like no other, and not bragging, I have had ten bikes in my 30 years of riding, and this Diavel V4 is my absolute favorite, hands down. Power is one thing, well all of that, but the service interval is what sold me on this as a DIYer!! No other bike in this market can compare to the Ducati Diavel V4, None... lunga vita al Diavolo!!!

Thanks Mark. I really enjoyed the ride out on the big "Duke" what a magnificent machine. I'm a little surprised it feels so light to move around and also riding at slow speeds, I guess modern bike manufacturers have got the geometry really well sorted.
Money being no object or if I wasn't driving a car at all maybe this would be one of very few to oust my "Striple" from the driveway. The looks and that exhaust (look and sound) are head turners aren't they? Great review as always mate and I want to say how spoilt you are for great bike dealers in your neck of the woods. Keep smiling and stay safe. :>)

    Afternoon Mark.
I went with your recommendation. I'm now waiting for my red Honda cb500f to arrive at the dealership so I can pick it up, I also went with a puig screen, centre stand and Oxford heated grips, with a givi tank bag on way.
Thanks for sharing this review, lovely bike, but I'll stick with my Honda for a while lol 😆.

A bike mechanic pal has an early model Diavel {chain driven, not a belt}, amongst numerous other bikes, from CBX sixes to a Harley 1200 engined Buell, as well as Lambrettas. I sat on the Diavel and thought it an extremely comfortable riding position, and he also does the belt services for Ducatis, the maintenance cost at Ducati dealerships being a bit of an arm and a leg experience for many.

    • @windyrun7979

@@windyrun7979 Yes, I knew that, thanks. My pal said he preferred a chain driven Diavel also, because he sometimes does European tours and didn't want to risk having a belt snap on him. His belt driven Buell is only for local use.

Hi mark , great review as ever , I’ve a gen 1 diavel , which is a beast and a 1260 diavel , which I’d say is plusher , both rough and crude in town ,traffic , in comparison yesterday I took my rocket 3 out , not ridden it for 5 years , like riding a magic carpet , and I’d forgot how fast the thing was and super comfortable , down side it weighs a ton , I’ll wait a year or two and probably buy a v4 diavel second hand , with all the bits, and accessory’s I want on it , judging by you test it seem rideable in town and traffic ,which my 2 are defiantly not , I first took a diavel carbon out in 2011 as a demo for a weekend as a friend owned a motorcycle dealership , on the ride home ( solo ) it was the absolute bomb , noise , speed , drama, brakes , on the Sunday rode about 160 mile twos up ( and she was a brilliant pillion ) but after that mileage I could have thrown it in the bushes and walked home ,almost got sick of the noise speed and drama , but a couple of years later I bought one anyway , it had gotten under my skin , something about those diavel’s 🏍🏍👍👍

More than the looks that can vary from person to person, is riding experience. There you will know if the bike is the one for you. It seems to be an awesome bike but to be sure we have to ride it. I have a BMW r nine T Scrambler and the bike gives me a lot of pleasure to ride and it is shaft drive transmission which is a feature that I became enjoying more and more as time goes bye. The solid construction of the whole bike is a very important matter for me. The BMW gives me that too. I might test this motorcycle but I doubt that it would be capable to surprise me so much, to the point of considering a trade. But as I said, you can’t tell unless you try it.

Don't actually wait 9000 miles between oil changes, because I believed the intervals on my Multi 1200S DVT and the rod bearings failed at 29k miles. Those were replaced...for $9000...and now it burns a liter of oil per 2000 miles.

I bet servicing is expensive, although 36,000 miles before a valve check is encouraging. As is the 9,000-mile service interval. 9,000 miles seems like a long time with the same oil, though. Good-looking bike. I'm not keen on the mini backrest. The fly screen protects the TFT, but I don't like the positioning of the TFT: wrong side of the bars. Not really my type of bike and way too expensive. I'd prefer the streetfighter model. Still way too expensive, though. Good review, Mark. NJ
