This movie is not what this country needs right now. I don't think it will achieve stasis/catharsis in the audience ala Aristotle's poetics of Tragedy. It can only encourage further division, and make more real the chance of conflict.

An alliance is not a merger. Texas and California might be allied only to break away from the US more effectively for the duration of the war. Then once they gain their freedom, dissolve the alliance and become two separate independent countries.

It won't happen this year. As long as the dollar is strong, states won't secede because so many people would go "but muh federal pension!" It could only happen after a dollar collapse, which is at least another three to five years out. And the war wouldn't be X number of states vs X number of states like the war from 1861-65. It would be the federal government, the blacks, white women, LGBT, and some Hispanics versus normal people who don't work for the government. I think the normal people would lose the war but would be better off in the long run as they would become refugees and integrate into other societies. Whereas the "winners" would be the losers in the long run as nobody would know how to farm, do plumbing, electrical work, et cetera. All anyone would know how to do is twerk and whine. It would be a dystopia worse than Haiti.
