    A. We are anywhere close to this
    or B. Military units (Especially the 101st) are this detached. If something this sideways did happen more than likely the whole army would circle the wagons and pick a side. I know myself and my battalion wouldn't turn on each other like this. (Also your legally required to disobey any unconstitutional order so that firing squad wouldn't happen.)

    Isn't it amazing. A 1997 movie and here today you see the Democrats making the same ethnic voting calculations as in this movie, more concerned about their power and their control than rights and freedoms of citizens. And then the one line after it all starts breaking down ... So what do you expect? You can only push people so far. And we see that today in how people support Trump over Biden as they think Biden and his group keep pushing to dang far. Each side thinks they are right and the other wrong. Each side keep pushing the people on the other. And like this movie shows (and history backs up), there is only one final result with two groups thinking they are right and they are the alphas ...
    And sitting over the top of it all .. is the media with their biases once side views. Heck the only difference between this movie and today will be the media has already split into camps. No fighting on the inside .. just two groups each posting their stories about the outside to get ratings and views and push what they all believe again is right. Ahh the spiral of human stupidity down the drain is always SOOO entertaining. And the media will sell tickets to the flush and won't be shocked.

    This is so over the top (even for the 90s) I don't know if this is supposed to be a serious movie or a comedy. With that said there is one thing they got right, unlike the first civil war, America can't be divided along any established geographic lines. Polarization and division is in every state, every home, and every room now.

      That is how all civil wars are to a point. The 1861 US war was not as cleanly divided as you may imagine. For instance Maryland stayed in the Union and WVa was founded in violation of the Constitution because Lincoln had thousands of key separatists arrested w/o habeas corpus when he took office. Many secession votes were close in 1860 and 61.
      There were several counties that stayed loyal and waited till the end of the war to speak up and join up. Every southern state had Union volunteer Regiments. Tennessee had more than some northern states.
      Same in the US Revolution which was a civil war and colonial independence war.
      It was real messy in the French Revolution after General Lafayette lost control of the moderate revolutionaries, they killed the king and the Terror/Purge started.
      English Civil War was town v town.

    • @rabd3721
      @rabd3721 3 месяца назад +2

      @@STho205 I think that's valid for warfare at the time, but the weapons of war has changed. America has firepower that can level someone's basement with pinpoint accuracy using a drone strike. Militia's might spring up here or there, but they'll be leveled rather quickly. I honestly feel no sympathy for someone who openly rebels against their nation. Just like I feel no sympathy for J6 rioters who met their demise. This scene tries to create drama around the deletion of soldiers who participated in mutiny, but... I mean that's fair? Any soldier who rebels against their officers will rightfully be put down. I don't get what the point is.

      Well, when you have a right-wing that willingly follows a man like the person Donald Trump has become, sometimes satire can eventually become reality, simply because fake news used to be called "tabloids" & only the mentally-unstable & clinically-insane believed any of that.
      Nowadays, it's called "news" by rightists. The truth is, stupidity & ignorance by rightists/conservatives/Republicans is what causes such bad & dark times for this world.
      Ever wonder why Republican-controlled states are trying to ban history books? They fear that, if children learn about how the right used to be, that'll be convincing enough for more people to open their eyes & mind, and that will eventually end the right-wing's grip on politics.

Then watch the news of today from every source possible (Fox News, CNN, local news, etc.).
