Mike Tyson vs Mitch "Blood" Green - Full FIGHT - Best Quality

  • Mike Tyson was 19 years old and undefeated when he met former heavyweight contender James "Quick" Tillis in his 20th professional bout. Tyson had won all his 19 previous fights by way of knockout, while Tillis had lost four of his previous five fights and came into the fight as a huge underdog. Tillis, however, put on a good effort and was able to take Tyson the full 10 rounds, the first time in Tyson's professional career; Tyson won by unanimous decision. Only four days later, it was announced that Tyson would next face Mitch "Blood" Green, who was ranked one spot ahead of Tyson on the WBC heavyweight standings, on May 20 in Madison Square Garden.[2] Despite Green being higher than Tyson in the rankings, there was a huge disparity in the fighter's purse, Tyson was guaranteed $250,000 while Green was due to make only $30,000. Because of this, Green threatened to pull out of the fight only one day before it was to take place unless his purse was increased. However, after HBO executive Ross Greenberg informed Green that a shot at the WBC heavyweight title was on the line, Green chose to continue on with the fight.

to my eyes, tyson is actually the most technical boxer, in any weight class, I've ever seen. His power seems to largely come from proper punching technique, he rotates into everything. His hip and shoulder rotation is ideal for generating as much power as your frame can, and his defense is as good as anyone's I've ever seen. Yeah, he's always coming forward, but his head movement is possibly the best I've ever seen, the perfect bob and weave, perfect hand placement and perfectly tucked chin, lateral steps to try to get behind, dipping and ripping, loading his attacks while dipping for defense. He's just so well trained. And that's actually what made him so good I think, because if anybody drills this enough, you'll notice the heavy bag flies around as your body learns how to coordinate power. It's all coordination, drilling endlessly. The speed, balance and power comes soon enough, just like how arm wrestlers become ever stronger. Tyson also smartly goes to the body a lot, which is the wide open defenseless part of us all. No bones, except some ribs to the side. take someone's air and you take all their will. Better than breaking your hand on skull, and better than needing the precision a KO head shot requires.
cus was cunning, he developed the ideal style.
but really... it's just boxing basics 101 done to perfection. it's nothing so clever, it's the basics, all of them, finely finely tuned from endless drilling I'm sure.
And Mitch Green is really, really tough, this proves it, you have to kill that guy to stop him.

Just completely annihilated a bum or got beat by a hall of fame heavy weight great. Or did something whack to get disqualified. I don't know why people rate him so highly. He was never truly tested in his prime. He fell to pieces if his opponents refused to be intimidated by him.

Green was satisfied to survive the fight and get the loser's share rather than try outpunch Tyson and get punched out. However, Green absorbed bombs from Tyson that would have KOd almost any other fighter. His head recoiled excessively more than a few times and he walked away from the fight pretty well intact. I wouldn't complain having his bank account after the fight. I'm sure he could easily afford a small bottle of Extra Strength Tylenol. Mike Tyson - Praised by the makers of pain relief medications.

Green really hung in there way better than most who came after him. So for Sugar Ray to say he "did nothing" is incorrect, in hindsight and in the moment. Granted, Green was simply outclassed. But he really should have gone harder.

The greatest respect for Mitch Green he went the distance!!! If he was bottle fed like Tyson was in the Catskills there would have been no stopping him. He had the speed of Hit Man Hearns but the power of a heavyweight. He walked off the street into the ring in 1986 with no money for training, food or trainer . Truly one of the most talented boxers to ever put on the gloves .
