I really love these timeless hymns; Doctrinally rich, music set to scripture proclaiming the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. O come O come Emanuel
It's the early hours of December 24th, a blustery, rainy night in the Nevada desert. I listened to this as I watched raindrops trace down my window and found a little peace. Thanks for your gift.
I was humming this song in my school once and the person next to me asked me what i was humming and i told her and she listened to it and it moved her so much that now she goes to church every Sunday and she says it was because of me that she goes to church every Sunday
Advent season from a Catholic Christian point of view is my favorite liturgical season of the year because it gives me a lot of hope that Jesus among us and coming soon.
Im having trouble at my Christian School and I need prayer thx guys u r the best so when I'm mad and have a bad day ill have this song in my heart ad😆😇😇😂
all i want to say to jesus is please protect everyone and please i ask you that to come back to our world because there are still people that fight and i know you are the key (to stop ever fight) and i just want for you to stay forever and teach about you and i will never stop loving jesus and teach some new comandments and i never will stop saying i love you jesus with all you heart
This song always brings me to the brink of tears for reasons non-specific. Every time I hear it, it makes me feel closer to the Lord for a time, and it fills my thoughts, making my faith the only thing I can think about for the rest of the day. Every time. It makes me sad and happy at the same time.
+Thomas Covington I really can't listen to it more than once at a time, or I really do start to cry. The sheer beauty of this song strips me of my pride (probably my biggest flaw; I'm an extremely proud person), and makes me feel so unmanly. Not in a bad way but such that I don't feel the need to give the impression of being all macho all the time.
+Thomas Covington Me too Thomas, no shame in doing so and that is the power music has over our emotions. The words and its lyrics especially for people with faith are so powerful.
+Thomas Covington I believe what you are speaking of is what St. Ignatius of Loyola appropriately called consolations. Have a blessed Advent and a merry Christmas.
+Thomas Covington I feel both immensely grateful and utterly ashamed that Christ died for my sins. Sometimes it is overpowering. Living simultaneously as both sinner and saint is hard (and wonderful). Have a Blessed Christmas!
Me too. I love this song so much it makes me sad and happy at the same time. I write down lyrics for songs and project the words on the screen for the whole church to see. It is really fun. :)
This evening, I went to a carol service at my church. Everybody was given a candle upon entering and the lights were turned out so the church was dark except for the Christmas lights on the rails for the stairs leading up to the podium and of course the candles held by the churchgoers, and this hymn was sung by the choir and congregation. Textbook beauty.
+Paul von Oberstein I would normally agree, but I have to ask you to listen to this first, Whitacre's "Alleluia," a contemporary Christian piece. I think it's a close as we can get to hearing actual angels sing :) I think you will enjoy it very much, Christian or not. ruclips.net/video/Rak_rJLG49k/видео.html
This song is very beautiful it is an old latin song founded in the early 12th century by the Early christians i love this music i give credit to you megan smith.
I remember singing this for the first time in December of last year (2014). I was very new, and only had just started going to church about two months before. And when the church started singing this song, I kept up with them as best as I could until the middle. By than I was in tears as the music and the words of this song came strait to my heart. It brought a sense of peace and hope to me in a time when I felt lots of regret and hopelessness (which sadly, I still feel). Since than, no other song has meant so much to me.
+Firestar9889 I am very sorry for your pain, but it sounds like you have found the one place where you can experience true solace. I pray that your heart will find peace. "One thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:13b-14)
I heard a piece of this song in my head a few minutes ago and had to listen to it, and came about this version. This moved me in my spirit. I am in absolute tears right now. Oh come, God with us!! We need You!!!
whenever i feel alone or in need of some guidance i listen to this song, it brings me such joy, it is beautifully done and deserves more praise then i can even give it. the only word i can define this piece with it: bliss.
david tracey I paid close attention to the lyrics. I thought the trinity made a subtle appearance in this. One of my favorite songs to listen to when I'm alone is Light at the end of the tunnel by Kerry Muzzey.
Chris Epperson I enjoy Kerry Muzzey, too. Have you ever heard "Alleluia" by Eric Witacre? It's got to be the closest thing to angels singing as we'll ever hear this side of heaven: ruclips.net/video/Rak_rJLG49k/видео.html
O people of Zion, behold, the Lord shall come to save the nations; and He shall make the glory of His voice to be heard, in the joy of your heart. (Ps 79:2)
I have always loved this type of music around Christmas. This, Carol of the Bells, and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen are just some of my favorite songs. I especially love this song because I'm Catholic and just love singing this at Mass
Listen to that E minor scale. This melody is documented to at least the 15th century. The scale itself is almost twice as old; monks were crafting the modes and scales that would define Christian and later all Western music when Vikings were around. The emotional power of a minor scalar melody (one that uses the notes of the scale rather than the notes the chords played) is utilized to this day. Listen to Scarborough Fair, in particular the Simon and Garfunkel version, or Parabol by Tool, both of which are also played in E minor. You can hear the same notes and similar melodic patterns that give the songs their spiritual, holy tranquility.
I totally adore this song Megan. Ever since I was a child and I am now 28. Now that I a personal relationship with Lord Jesus I know how important this song is and why this song resonated with me way back then when I was Dead through sin. But now that God is with us and the way, the truth, and the beautiful life is with us. Such a beautiful song thank you Megan.
jomari bayo We're already free we feel chained because of sin and allowing evil to control us but also because of laws (im not saying the government is the devil in that sense) but freedom is the cost for obeying and doing good
Sean Jordan I think rather sin is the cost of freedom (Adam and Eve were free to turn away from God and chose to do so). We are at this moment both bound by sin and freed by Christ (simultaneously sinner and saint). When Jomari says that we will be set free in heaven, I think he means that every last shackle of sin will be finally broken, including death itself.
I am an Atheist but I loved these church Hymns. They are beautiful and are amazing works of music. I enjoy listening to them and I think this is the best part of Christian faiths. Thanks for posting
This song is from the album "Hymns for All Saints: Advent, Christmas, Epiphany" by Concordia Publishing House. You can find it on Itunes. Thanks for the comment!
+Vanessa Poulsen I'm glad you enjoyed it. And plz don't think I'm weird or anything, but I just have to tell you that your pic here reminds me so much of the da Vinci's "Mona Lisa." That's very hard to do in such a tiny space. Merry Christmas!

+Cindy Trinh Me too! I'm not even religious, far from it actually, but I won't get into that, but everytime I sing, or listen to this song, I get goosebumps, its such a beautiful piece
+Toni Salazar That's very nice of you to be concerned, but Corbin might very well be happy with where he is. If Jesus is real, and we believe he is, He will never stop knocking at everyone's doors, the very polite and well-spoken Corbin's included, and we don't have to worry :) Merry Christmas!
oh my loving god u help me so much and u leads me to the way u are and bring me to your home although i not baptize yet but i still want to say i love u so much amen

Beautiful. Glory be to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
When life is so vexing, I turn to this song to calm my heart with hope and promise of a peace after this earthly existence. Oh come, oh come Emmanuel!

it is the power of the Trinity in the Holy Spirit which acts as the perfect healer to you. it is a promise, and it works, evidently+
:) This is a song about God coming to comfort his people. It is so lovely.

Very nice rendition. Beautiful melody. Thanks for uploading.
Megan Smith! I concur with your asking the vulgar herd to settle in another pasture. I've loved debating all my life and I've belonged to bookclubs that even get heated. Yet, do the lyrics of our ensemble stay civil. "The sin of mine ingratitude weighteth heavily upon my blades." Were I to have forgotten, shame on me. THANK YOU for correcting the adder's tongue.
