It’s impressive that they didn’t slip and talk about it being the first show taped for Motor Madness. They held this one in the bank for almost 4 months other than the studio segments which were likely recorded a day or two before airtime.
Yeah and they messed up a lil bit because they actually showed the executioner roll over in highlights of the season before they aired this event on TV...so if u paid attention like I did when this came out u would have knew he was gonna roll over.
I like the idea of the King of the Mountain that they had here. They could have used that as more of an actual reward, like a World Finals birth kind of deal. But once they had the Indy event that were supposedly gaining points towards (earning a bye run if I remember correctly), they had a couple of trucks that hadn't even run a single event. Ah well, still loved the live aspect (even though this one was taped) and the full coverage of Pro Arena trucks in it's infancy. And if anything, it's makes us appreciate the promotions like ProMT, MLMT, and MOD who had meaningful points series not long after this.
Bigfoot, Samson, and Bulldozer all had byes in when Indianapolis came. Those trucks you're referring to, Maniac, Deuces Wild, they ran the first round.
@@DaltonHastings1 Thanks for the confirmation on that. What about Equalizer? David ended up winning the series championship, should he not have earned a bye as well?.. Although I guess I'll see for myself when I get to it as I'm re-watching them again. I appreciate you posting this history.
@@MisterGravelrama The only trucks that would have deserved a bye in Indianapolis were trucks that won King Of The Hill. Equalizer never won King Of The The hill, despite winning the overall championship that year.
@@DaltonHastings1 That is interesting. Never winning King of the Hill yet being crowned the overall champion. Signs of a flawed system perhaps? None-the-less, I'll always enjoy this chapter in the annals of monster truck lore. I may even make a hypothetical points series out of it one day to see how it would have turned out.
Wow the announcers are really messing this up. First one of em said Bigfoot rolled over in the obstical final raven n then the other announcer almost sailed Bigfoot was from Kill Devil Hills. N then they said they where going to talk to the Bigfoot driver n the guy said well ac6i got the snake bite driver lol. Smh. 🤣
