      SORTEDfood Am I the only one who thought the poll meant James won because of the wording, both the question and answers?
      Guys was that intentional?
      Super happy Ben won, definitely my dessert of choice.
      I love plums but can't stand pomegranate, imh it's pretentious with F-all flavour and a seed in every bit. I would love to try both but would need to spit out the pomegranate seeds and I hate having to do that with food. Sorry James.

      and the cool part is that it's a relevant debate, James's method creates a shinier,more appealing chocolate

    • @randomnobody660
      @randomnobody660 5 лет назад +2

      @@Kdkendk But it's not. James' chocolate is not obviously better. It's just shinier due to how it's applied. Ben's chocolate can only be as smooth as the mold he used (which is arguably a mistake i suppose).
      James' mirror glaze is just naturally shiny, but if you look at the chocolate piece op top at 10:49 for example, which I assume is the same chocolate as the glaze, just leftovers, you should notice it's much less shiny and looks less well done.

    • @natalie9796
      @natalie9796 Год назад

      Well, I am so late but anyway
      There is nothing to do with tempering chocolate technique that’s related to James’ shiny domes. It is a glaze that is completely different! James’ attempt on tempering chocolate you can see on the chocolate piece on top of the domes. And it is not shinier than Ben’s - if not less tbh

    James should have won most of these battles (except the italian one for sure) if I'm honest; his clever use of ingredients and the balance he strikes with those flavors should win out. Ben definitely is equally talented, but I think he focuses on the palette of the judges, which admittedly is what you want in a personal chef or a test kitchen chef, and something that is probably factored in when they judge. Very much a clash of two different approaches to cooking and ways of going about impressing the judges. I'd like to see a panel of industry experts judge their foods vs normal people judging their food. Probably wouldn't happen, but one could dream.

    3.) James, you are lovely and the way you gave so much sass to Ben reminds me of how my big brother and I behave! That being said, my vote goes to Ben this week. Fun fact. Pistachios are known to spontaneously combust during travel due to heat buildup in the shells. This is why they have some very strict rules on how they are processed and shipped. To avoid, well, hot nut fires.
