- Welcome to the incredible Lairig Ghru mtb descent, and incredible piece of Cairngorm singletrack found near Aviemore.
I genuinely think mountain bikers of all experience could find enjoyment on the Lairig Ghru pass. It captures the essence of natural Cairngorm singletrack in a short and accessible ride. If you are trying to find the courage to head out on your first Scottish adventure then this would be a great warmup. Also, being near Aviemore, it places you in a great location to do more exploring.

As always: great riding and route planning inspiration. Thanks🙌🙌
Cheers Donnie 👍
This is our back yard so I'm biased, but couldn't agree more - such a fun descent! Great video as always! And yeh, some of those sections after the lodge just suck!
Cheers Leila. What an amazing place to live. Not jealous, honestly!
Great decent, I rode it as part of a bigger loop that took in the Chalamane gap and a horrible boulder field. But that part you did is sublime
Nice one Clark! We need to get out on another wee adventure soon buddy 👌
Looks a great descent. Worth the bit of pushing. Great video as always 👍
Cheers mate. A beautiful wee place 👌
😂😂
Jamie,
Thanks for the blast from the past!! Stayed at Rothiemurchus Lodge in the early 90s.
Was up in the Cairngorms skiing on that occasion and it's what started my love for northern Scotland. Truely a magical place!
And great riding too!!
Ah brilliant. That's so cool. Maybe everyone has a Rothiemurchus story!
The Largig Ghru is epic! Done it a few years back, really enjoyed it, such a beautiful part of Scotland is the cairngorms. Rode it a lot better than I did back then! Great edit too man, some lovely drone shots!
Thanks Archie. You are right, it's such a beautiful part of Scotland. I always enjoy my adventures up that way! Hope you are all good bud 😁
Another nice video mate. Drone footage works so well especially with scenery like that. Ive done that decent on my fat bike before was great fun and also camped at loch morloch.
Not done the lollipop loop yet but thats on the to do list for next year now.
As always well done.
Cheers Franco. Drone is so good in these environments. Deffo get the lollipop done. It's a legit one day epic 👍
Nice trail!
It's so nice to ride 👍
Looks really nice
It's a brilliant trail. The scenery is fantastic though. Really adds to the ride!
Amazing video. I’m kind of a beginner but heading to have a look at this on Friday as I live local ❤
I'd say this would be a great wee beginner loop 👌
@@streetpigeonmtb that’s amazing to know thank you
Excellent work with this video Jamie....just brilliant production quality that puts some mainstream stuff to shame. Loved the trails and the riding as well. 😎🤘👍
Thanks buddy. I really appreciate that. I love putting a bit of extra effort into the vids, trying to showcase the amazing places we ride 👌
Great edit here, loved the stop/start bit in time with the drum breaks in the intro and the footage of the climb and the foliage all adds to setting the scene. Fantastic descent too. Added to the list :D
That's brilliant Paul. Glad you enjoyed the vid. Hope you get to ride there at some point soon! 👌
Good stuff Jamie. Always good to see somewhere a little different, and nice to hear that you were enjoying the rocks 😉- We'll have you fully converted one day 😂
Ha ha. I am finding more love for rock... I just need to find a bit more to practice on! Hope you are good Darren 👍
Absolutely brilliant. I must get myself up there and do this. Top video. Cheers. Stoozer.
Yeah, it's an easy wee route to have in the bag if you are up that direction 👍
Great trial and video Jamie, I did this in June in the mid-summer rain. It's still mega even when it's wet. 👌
Ah nice. I was wondering if those roots would get quite savage! Good to hear it goes in the wet. Cheers man 👍
Setting the standard as usual Sir! great Job! 🙌
Ah, thanks so much mate. Kind words and very much appreciated 🙏
You've just done two of my favourite rides in the whole country. Love the Lairig Ghru and love Torridon. Different scales of course, but both massive fun. BTW, try the estate road into the Achnashellich descent next time. Far less hike a bike.
Thanks James! Yeah, I'd seen the alternative route in one of Andrews vids. Deffo looks preferable. So many good places to ride eh?
Gs stuff bro cheers
Thanks Diz 👌
Great video again. Stunning route
Cheers mate. Such a lovely wee route 😍
Contemplated coming here last time I was up in Aviemore but ended up exploring different bits of the Badaguish trails instead, never had enough time for both, will have to reconsider next time I am in the area, nice mix of trail terrain noticed connects to the bigger Lairig Ghru trail behind it. Excellent video, hanks for sharing Jamie! 😁🤙
Nae bother. What did you make of the Badaguish trails?
@@streetpigeonmtb Good! I enjoyed it although wasn't very good and could have done with sessioning but was limited timewise. Was a bit boggy at top but rode in November last year so should be much drier at the moment, over a good mix of steep (for me) tech and flow features another place in a list of many I would like to revisit.
@garyalexander3281 cheers mate. Sounds like I need to add it to the list 👍
@@streetpigeonmtbYour welcome! 😁
It's a great little trail and can be mixed into longer rides but probably best approached from Rothiemurchus Lodge. Just don't ride to the lodge by the path on the north side of Castle Hill. Not a good experience pushing a bike through that. Jamie, can I ask what you do with your controller for the drone when you have it tracking you? I have the same drone but haven't got a good solution to putting the controller somewhere where the buttons don't get accidentally knocked - such as putting in a back pack.
Cheers for the info bud. So I put the controller on the outside pocket of my Evoc pack. It's a helmet holder section of the bag so I can pull it tight around the controller. I stand the controller up vertically which stops the top two buttons getting pressed. In my experience it's the pressing of the top two buttons that cause the active track issues. Hope that helps 👍
