Now reinforce the outside of the hull with fiberglass for rigidity and sealing all the leaks that will come up when the mechanical resistance of the water roughens up and thins the plastic. The workmanship was good... But there is a best practice to making anything that floats on the water that significantly reduces the potential for accidents and/or failures in the material/construction.
My neighbor who was a brainiac made a catamaran using oil drums halves back when they didn't have plastic drums. He put them 4ea long ways and brazed them together Then added copper tubing over it. He reinforced the hull by also bridging it with copper tubing. When he was done he sprayed the bottom a lot of coats as he did with the inside. He put an aluminum wave shield in the front. He put a 20hp motor on the starboard side as he operated it on the port side. The first trial checked out but it was completely under powered. So he kept increasing the Hp until the boat balance out. Eventually heard it sank due to an retaliation for stealing someone's girlfriend.

That's a pretty awesome build. I don't know how we expected that not to leak. I think I put a roll of butyl and some stainless screws in. Let's go fishin!!
@@RichardLucas I can't imagine using one of these boats in open sea, that leaves bays lakes and rivers, the domain of pontoon boats. The only requirement that would be better served by these is small size. Oh and speed.
This is pretty cool, not sure how safe these boats are compared to boats created in traditional materials such as various fibber or just wooden boats. I can imagine these are ok on rivers, but how does that plastic handle sea water? Also I think an improvement would be to use a heated wire cutter to cut plastic or a similar tool. And recycle the scraps too. Using a saw creates a lot of plastic dust, which is both bad for environment and everyone else, while also being very bad for the worker(s). Of course, just reusing the barrel for their original purpose would be an even better use.
As long as overlapping joints of the plastic sheets are facing towards the back of the boat and the seams are sealed with a waterproof silicone adhesive... the boat should last quite a long time.
It is better to weld the seams using a soldering iron and pieces of plastic. Polyethylene terephthalate should be welded. Or you can seal them with silicone sealant. Well, or spend 5-10 bucks on one or two layers of fiberglass, and also make a deck from the same plastic to make it easier to remove water, and add weight to the bottom to make it harder to turn over while standing on the water..

Trimakasih kawan videonya sangat bermanfaat,,, proses membuat perahu dari bahan drum plastic yang bagus sekali❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
HDPE can be weded with hot air gun and is guaranteed 100%waterproof. With the nails sooner or later water enters
I think your boat needs an inner shell as a floor cover. In fact, the body should be two layers.

Fibreglass over barrel plastic would delaminate. The barrels with sealant would be monocoque by themselves. Avoid over-engineering
It defeat the purpose of making this a cheap and easy project tho
Good luck making anything stick to polyethylene.
@@peternicholsonu6090 Varela are pvc? Both polyester and resin grab that.....
@@linusgoblinthis is far from cheap. Barrels are pricy and this won't last. So.. pointless

While good work the best use of these barrels is in pontoon boats.
They're great for floating docks too.
@@vertstang123 Good point.
@@RichardLucas Obviously not the best pontoons but best use of these drums in boat form. Sealed cells that for the most part just need mounting.

HELAL OLSUN. Çök güzel.
Economiquement intéressant ,mais le problème c'est que rien ne colle sur le polyéthylène , donc pas facile de faire l'étanchéité !
That's why it welds together. A soldering iron will help. Well, epoxy resin, as well as polyurethane, PUR.
Remember how plastic water pipes are connected)
wow very nice lake
So creative. Fantastic.
More work than necessary. I would have made a couple of pontoons, built a frame and structure on top. Mounted a motor and been on my way.
I really don't think that butt jointing the wooden frames and nailing some plastic patches on will last very long.
Как обработать, минимум 10 лет может прослужить
水の抵抗の恐ろしさを知らぬ…愚か者だよ…
Butt joining would then leave you dependent upon the strength of the wood splitting so he likely lapped the panels which would be very strong.
As long as overlapping joints of the plastic sheets are facing towards the back of the boat and the seams are sealed with a waterproof silicone adhesive... the boat should last quite a long time.
Nails? Agreed!
Thanks for sharing sir Godbless
Nicely done! The difficulty is all the woodwork to get a solid wooden frame.
Goose wasn't bothered by the guy sawing right next to it.
It was trying to get out of there - 1:33. It was distracting from the boat build.
Did anyone else see a duck in the garage? He was looking on with those wee beady eyes.

Recycling isn't using working barrels :D
That barrel he had in the front was full of water, the boat is too light for that motor and was trimming up way too high.
help the environment by recycling (uses only new barrels) lol
