Btw this game was arguably Shadow’s peak as a character, after this he devolves into the stereotypical violent edge lord with barely anything beneath the surface and nearly every Shadow fan hated that.
Whether it's Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, 06 Colours Unleashed, Lost World, Adventure 1, Sonic CD, they're all quite controversial games within the Sonic fandom. Of course, some are less divisive than others, but they've all somewhat gone through one or more cycles of going from "it's good" to "it's bad" and then "it's good again". The fact is a lot of people judge these games mainly based on what they hear about them. And your outlook on a game can change your experience of it tremendously. Indeed, there was once a man named Arin Hanson, one who possessed the power to avoid all enjoyment (and tutorials) from Sonic games, always expecting and seeing the worse in them. Anyways, It's refreshing to see someone be realistic about this game. It has a lot going for it, but also some glaring flaws. It's definitely at least on par with Sonic Forces when it comes to the amount of lost potential it has. (Well you can make a lot of parallels between those two games honestly)
Okay, I'm about to explain a fan theory that doesn't make total sense, but I go along with it anyways because it's less of a headache. Basically, the theory is, Blaze gets sent to an alternate dimension at the end of silver's story, and that ends up being the Sol dimension. Because she's in a different dimension, she's the only one not to get affected by the timeline erasure at the end. That's not 100% perfect, but it's the best explanation we've got that allows both the Sonic 06 and a Sonic Rush to exist, and the references to both later in the series.
Been binging the entire Sonic series, and it's honestly been great-- definitely going to go back and watch the full VODs for some of these, too, as these highlights have just been fantastic. It's seriously just really nice to see someone run through the Sonic series and, like, properly recognize what neat things they've done right, rather than button mashing and then screaming at the game, rather than even *trying* to appreciate what's there for what it is. So to see someone playing the "worst" and still be like "honestly, there's some cool stuff in here," while also not pulling punches with the good-natured criticism of the stupid parts? Super refreshing, and I look forward to watching the rest of these! Always nice to see some appreciation for the honestly underrated level design in '06, in particular, despite how much else is wrong with the game's presentation, story, glitches, and controls (which I imagine were somewhat fixed with tweaks, in your case). Definitely consider checking out Project 06 for a look at what the game'd be like if it were much more "finished"-- might be a bit redundant, at this point, but it's honestly worlds apart. Also, suuuuuuuper late to be saying so, but in boss fights for any Sonic game that involves an actual arena, I've found it helps a LOT to try and AVOID picking up more than one ring at a time. There's no benefit to grabbing multiple, as it just means more are liable to despawn after getting hit. Handy trick I mostly learned for score attack stuff in the 3D games, as the score multiplier for rings is multiplied for boss fights, which can make it all but impossible to S-rank certain bosses if you hard commit to collecting them all early. Also also. Random trivia. In at least a few Sonic games, getting hit repeatedly will cause the "ring scatter" physics to become increasingly erratic, as to try and force you to lose more every time. I *think* that collecting new rings can negate that effect, and stop the few you have from getting to the point where they just catapult themselves out to impossible distances. But I can't remember which games that applies to, specifically. Anyways! Super fun series. Might binge it all *today*, and then start immediately in on the VODs, at this rate. ^^
I'm curious, do you get this mad over Star Wars, Star Trek, Mass Effect, Family Guy, American Dad, Ben 10, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Bojack Horseman, etc? All of which do interspecies relationships and MUCH worse.
tbh I really dont pay too much attention to ANY of those franchises; with exception to most Marvel movies up to endgame (and the main Star Wars movies). Plus, I wouldn't really say I was feeling angry, more so just weirded out. It felt very disjointed and jarring when comparing the event to the rest of the Sonic franchise. Plus, I'm just not a fan of the whole trope of kissing someone unconscious to revive them
@nudgeandprod that's fair. It DOES feel out of place, Sonic doesn't really need a love interest, human or otherwise imo. It's also weird because of the clashing art styles. Seriously, what was the guy who decided to give the humans realistic proportions thinking? Also, i agree, kissing a dead person is weird no matter what.
Talk about an overreaction. In my opinion, the fact that she's human doesn't bother me, sonic is a person, not an animal. He can talk and is of human intelligence, and it's not like interspecies relationships are unheard of in this franchise. The clash of artstyles is what disturbed me. I guarantee that if humans looked as they did in unleashed, nobody would care. That and the relationship is boring and they have no chemistry. Also Amy is a toxic stalker in these 2000s games, she's only good later on.
@@nudgeandprod I just don't get the thought process. I've never seen anyone get mad at the implied things between Knuckles and Rouge (Echidna and bat), or Vector and Vanilla (Crocodile and rabbit). I think its kinda weird to draw the line at Elise because she's human. It seems arbitrary. Especially in the context of the world presented in the sonic games. And it's not as if Sonic is the first to do this. Things like who framed Roger rabbit, spice and wolf, The Legend of Zelda etc. Again, it's the realistic human designs are the problem, as they don't mix with the cartoon appearance of sonic.

This video contains some of the best and worst edits I've ever done
Such a shame your Sonic Series has so few views. It's legit peak comedy and editing. Keep it up!
Thank you!!
I think this video is genuinely one of, if not my FAVORITE video that Trent has edited so far
This video is amazing
Thanks Perry!!
shadow and silver are actually pretty good characters when they're written properly goddamn
